Pioneer's descendant, Daniel Keig York, Jr., 69, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

Dan is the great-great-grandson of John York, a member of the Grigsby-Ide party of 1845, who settled in Napa County.

Dan was a social worker with Contra Costa County for 35 years. He was enjoying traveling in his retirement, as well as working on cars and remodeling.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of 48 years; two sons, Eric (Pam) of Texas and Marc (Tahasha) of Vacaville; six grandchildren, Gregory and Hailey of Flower of Mound, Texas, Athena, Ariel, Trent and Mariah of Vacaville; and brothers, John of St. Helena and James of Napa.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Treadway & Wigger, 623 Coombs Street, Napa. Burial will follow at Tulocay Cemetery. Contributions  to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society have been suggested.
