I'm sure you remember Miller's Market, the only grocery store near us at the time. My mom used to stop there every day, after work to shop. I think you used to catch the school bus near there didn't you Leida? Notice the munched car. There were so many terrible accidents around that area, and at the entrance to Rancho in those days. This is clearly circa early 1950s.

I can still name most of those kids as well ha ha. I didn't realize that Peggy Hammond was in that class. She and I became good friends during our senior year when she sat in front of me in one of my classes. John Darst was my best friend at the time (his photo is just below Patsy Swanson). Probably the best childhood friend I ever had.

Larry, are you sure we were in 6th grade in Whitneys class? We look a lot younger.I was in Mr Pinters 5th grade class too. Im sure you don't know this, but, before Napa Junction school was built, I went to a 2 room school house there in Napa Junction. 1st 2nd and 3rd in one room. 4th 5th and 6th in the other. I went to 1st grade there. There was no kindergarten. I remember John Darst. He was a cutie. I had a crush on him. I knew Ron Smith too. He invited me to a party on his patio, but danced with Sharon Stone. I think that was her name. Yep Millers Market was where my mom shopped every day.I caught the bus out front by the highway in front of the fruit stand. We didn't live in Rancho. We used to walk in back of Basalt to the quary. People used to go there to swim. One more little tidbit I'm not sure you know.Your cousin Carol and I became friends after we graduated. She married my brother Ken. They had 2 kids, but divorced later. Good to talk to you Larry. Please post more old pictures if you come accross any.

Hi Leida, yes it was 6th grade. The photo is even labeled as 6th grade (check it out). I don't remember having a cousin named Carol. I remember a Carolyn Hamilton who was the daughter of my Uncle Ken. He remarried (alot!!) and had a couple of step daughters though, I can't recall their names maybe she was one of them. Sweet Girls, and they lived in Vallejo. Nancy and Nina maybe? The only Carol I knew was Carol Sadenwater who was the daughter of my parents friends.

So where was the two room school house located, in relation to the Napa Junction site?

I think I have one more photo of Napa Junction with me posing proundly in front of my new school. I think the school was only two yrs old when I got there.

Do you have any photos you can post of those days?

Larry, you are right. I had to put on my glasses to see 6th grade. Your Uncle Ken was a insurance agent for Farmers Ins. He lived in Vallejo and had a daughter Carolyn ( I called her Carol) . So she must have been your cousin. She had a sister whom name I cant recall. Her sister died a long time ago. I think the 2 roim school house was accross the road from Palbys. Do you remember the little store that was just down the street fom our school . I think tge man who owned it was named Calamaros" or something like that. We used to go there and get big grape an fireball gum balls. Crazy the things we remember. Do you live in Napa? If I can find a ny old pics I will post them. Ha ha about Ron Smith. The girls name was Mary Stone. Not Sharon.

Hi Leida and Larry,

What great photos .. they look like something I would find in my mother's alblum!! I saw myself in the class photo, and, I distinctly remember that dress lol!

I was in Mr. Pinter's 5th grade class and Mrs. Whitney's 6th grade class. I think Karen Bush lived across the street from the school? I remember Leida that you were across the highway? I didn't know there was a two room school either.

We only lived in Rancho for 5 years but there were so many of us kids and it's fun to know they are still around for chatting. Hope to see you both sometime soon.

I was there for only two years as well. We didn't move to Napa until right after high school graduation. I was thinking that I didn't meet Karen until 7th grade...did she go to Napa Junction? The last time I saw you was while doing an appraisal for one of your sales. :) I was an appraiser for World Saving which became Wachovia.

Hi Lynne and Larry. That pic of me in 6th grade is horrible. I think I got a little better looking in 7th grade. Lol. I could be wrong. Lol. I don't think I have a year book for 7th grade grade. If you do, I'd like to see what I looked like. I dont remember either of you in my 5th and 6th grade classes. I do remember John Darst , ha ha.I, like you Lynne, don't remember Karen Bush till 7th grade. If you guys go to the Reunion, it would be good to see you guys. It's nice to talk with you two. Maybe some of our class nates that went to Napa Junction will chime in and chat with us.

Ok Leida, sorry for the graininess but this is your 7th grade photo. You were right, this looks more like you. I left you a personal message about John Darst.

I FBed Carolyn that we chatted. That was a surprise to her. The first thing she said was that you were her sister in law. How I did not know this is beyond me. I did lose touch with her and her sister, but my sister remained in contact with them. Carolyn said it was sad that she and I lost touch for all those years. I was always dealing with a new set of Uncle Ken's step kids.

I wonder where all those kids in that class photo ended up? I any of you are reading this...please chime in

Thanks for my picture Larry. Yes, I think I look a little better in this pic. I think I may have started wearing make up. To the left of me is Charlene Spradlin. To my right is JoAnn Garcia. I dont know the name of the kid below Barbara Ryan either. There's a few I don't know. So you forgot to tell me the message you had for me about John Darst. Is he alive and well? Oh my gosh, do you rember Barbara Rumbler? She's on the far right. She could kick anyones butt. She was a little tuffy. Those were the good old days. I met Lynne at one of our ladys luncheon. I know she's not married and has a son. I have a son and daughter and 6 grandkids and 2 greats. I'm a widow twice now. How about you Larry?

Hi Charlene, hi JoAnn. I think you are right JoAnn. I can't remember the name of this girl. Pretty sure she had a brother named Robert. Maybe they were twins. I think they were in the same grade as us.Now I'm gonna rack my brain trying to think of her name. How long did you go to school in Vallejo JoAnn? My first husband lived and went to school in Vallejo. He was 2 years younger than myself. His name was Darrel McMurphy. He was killed in Vietnam in 68. Just wondering, beings you lived there. Where do you live Charlene?

Yes, that’s Jeanette Stratton. She and her brother, Robert have both passed away. I’m living in Carlisle, Kentucky. My husband and I have been here for nearly 8 years. His family has been here for many years. We moved to spend time with them and my husband’s son and granddaughter after we retired from work.

Charlene: I found it in our seventh grade yearbook. Unfortunately, the photo is texturized to protect the copyright on the photo so when I tried to take a close up...I got that grainy look.

Leida, when you hit the button to "add response" a menu appears at the top. The second button from the left has a picture icon. You click on that and then select the photo you want to upload. I will try to find your FB site for the photo. I'm curious about that school.

I have a step daughter, and a son. 6 Grandchildren 3 greatgranchildren (ouch) and two more on the way.

I was married 35 yrs to a Jersey girl who did some of her growing up in Brooklyn. She passed away in 2007. Her name was Amie, and I used to tease her about her norweigian culture, and could do a pretty good muppet norweigian accent. Sorry I don't know how to make these pictures smaller once I upload them.

OMG, so many memories from so many graduating classmates. Wonderful stories. My brother, Steve and I, went to Kindergarten in a little red schoolhouse, in the park, in Benicia. It's no longer there. After 1/2 yr. in the 3rd. grade, for Steve, and 1/2 yr. for me, in the 1st., we moved to Napa. Westwood, Ridgeview, Napa High. Such good times. Jannette Stratton Valentinsen lived a block over from Craig, me and our boys, while the boys were growing up. Great neighborhood.
