Speaking of NoCal fires...here's what I'm doing with a lot of my burned oak
trees...put them to good use...

Let’s see.....Bruce and his teeth....they only fall out at mealtime, usually into a glass of water....which is quite ironic in itself!

Nice work on using the trees for lumber.  And I love those pictures, who would have thought of a fushia rabbit but it looks like they have a tagging problem too.  Now we have to give Bruce credit if he is willing to try the dancing.  And Bruce I have a bottle of homemade Ouzo you can practice with at hiome to perfect your moves.

Finished my trip to Europe last week.  Took several days to recover from the jet lag.  Here are some pics from Budapest:  In order are heroes square with the 7 Magyar tribal leaders watching over the grave of the unknown soldier, the parliment building taken from the Danube River, St Stephens Basillica, and some race fans from the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.  Sums up that part of the trip.  What I found to be interesting is that the cities were humming with activity after 7:00 pm.  It seemed like everyone was strolling along the streets, at a multitude of sidewalk restaurants.  The cities just seemed alive until the wee hours of the morning.  The problem with visiting  several countries is that the people have a different word for everything. Fortunately for me, many people spoke English making communication easier than I thought.

So, Les, it sounds like you did the River Cruise like I did.  I went from Nuremburg to Budapest for the Christmas Markets in 2015. Very nice cruise, although, they don't give people enough time to shop at the Christmas Markets, they are so big!   Budapest is lovely all lit up for Christmas.

Diane - we spent 4 days in Budapest on one of the days we took a boat from one end of the city to Margerit Island and spent the day there then went back.  So unfortunately no overnight stay on a boat on the Danube.

Les, you were in Budapest much longer than I.  I think you were ok, though, because I think they only do the lights for the Christmas time and Markets.  Not sure, though.  I'm sure the island was nice.  Glad you had a good time.  Did you learn anything about your ancestors while you were there?

My only experience with Budapest is ancient. Envy all this recent travel by my classmates. Maybe we'll do eastern Europe before we're too old to travel... Flew into Budapest, Zagreb, and a few other smaller towns in 83-84 as the USSR was dissolving. Like flying back 50 years in time. Old 1930's aircraft still waiting on parts or scavenged for their parts. Even a Ford tri-motor sitting abandoned at one small airfield. Horsecarts still on the unpaved roads, gypsies and a lot of poor farmers. Very bleak. The best existence at that time was a military or government job.

How can we find out information on the 60's Decade Reunion?  It is getting close and all I see is the date to be held and where, but no price or anything more.

Good morning Diane. The decades reunion luncheon is 13 months off and we have not come up with all the details such as menu, price etc. At this time we have only reserved the date at the Elks Club.If I had to come up with a wild guess on price it would be somewhere around $40.  As the details evolve I will post them. Hope to see you there!!

Bob

I’m getting not-so-subtle messages from my nieces in Vermont about the fall foliage. 😏 I’ll probably miss the trip this year because I plan to work a campaign in the mid term elections. 😒  Anybody else planning to make the trip to see the fall foliage back east?<>>

Yes,

We leave on Tuesday, flying into Portland ME. We take a small cruise ship (200 passengers) up around the coast of Maine, up through Halifax, Charlotteown, and down the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. We will spend three days there. Any "must sees" you would like to share?

We spent three weeks in New England several years ago following the foliage. Amazing! Beautiful quaint towns, hometown fairs of yesteryear, no rushing just a nice even pace. They have beautiful fall decoration on homes and streets. I won’t even get started on the covered bridges. Highly recommend a visit!

Bob and Joan .  Sounds like what you have done is way better than my trips I simply drive to Vermont ha ha .

Larry you have to get off the Maine roads to see the beauty and quaintness of New England. Do it! You won’t be sorry.

Thanks for the memory Larry.  I can still put names to a lot of our classmates.

Hi Larry. Omg. This is a blast from the past. I have that same picture. You are to the left of me. I can remember most of the people in the pic. At least by their first names. Is this our third grade, and is that MS Whitney ?

Leida Barrios (Dempsey)

Oops. I now see it is Mrs Whitney. Can't tell. Is it 3rd grade.

Hi Leida,

Yes that's me to the left of you.

It is 6th Grade.  I arrived fresh off the farm from Indiana, just in time for 5th Grade with Mr. Pinter (loved that teacher).  I didn't like Ms. Whitney.  I remember that she chewed out a bunch of the 6th grade girls for what she considered inappropriate behavior one day. Ha.  I don't know if you remember that.  My neighbor across the street was Ron Smith.  Alot of the girls had a crush on him and used to hand me notes to give to him. ;)

The City of American Canyon has a website with old photos.  There is one with Mr. Pinter, and another where the fire department was giving us a lecture in a field and you can see the old mill and quarry in the background. I will try to find them and post. There are alot of kids you would recognize from the photo.  The one with Mr. Pinter is with a class I don't recognize at all.

Ok Leida,

this the one of the fire department demonstration.  It looks like Basalt was operating at that time. That is Cindy Bucheon in the white sweater...the first girl standing up on the right. She lived across the street from me.  Some of the kids I remember being in the class behind us (1 grade back).  Just off the right shoulder of the fireman is a kid in a plaid shirt that looks alot like me but I can't tell for sure.
