O.K., I tried to post pictures of Jack and me. Ha! If you check my profile page, that is not what you see. It's an awful picture of my flower garden. I tried to delete it, but it wouldn't go away! I think I have the "Freddie D. syndrome". I may get brave and try again, but I may not!

Rosalie, if you'd like I'll wave the magic wand and make that photo disappear and if you need more help just email me the pic of you and Jack, or snail mail it, I'll post it for you. I haven't seen your fellow Haughton resident classmate Bernard Grappe on the site yet, I might need to nudge him a little.

Thanks, Bill. I did get the "garden" deleted!

Hi Raymond,

Well,I'm no expert but Landry's on I-10 east side of Lafayette; Prejean's is on I-49 just north of I-10, east side of highway. For crawfish, Breaux Bridge (east of Lafayette on I-10) is the crawfish capital but I don't know any of their eating places.

Now up around Alex, hmmm, I can tell you about the catfish here in Pineville but the crawfish I can't say.

If you are coming up I-49 or US 71 through Alexandria you'll be passing within 10 minutes of our house. If you have time I can give you directions to our house or could meet you on I-49 at exit 90 (or 94, not sure), Cracker Barrel, for coffee. It's just north of Alexandria at the England Airpark exit.

If you come up US 190 at the little town of Livonia just as you cross a bayou you can turn left and follow the bayou for about a quarter mile to Dreyfus' Restaurant in an old plantation building. It's kind of a unique place to eat. There is a sign at the intersection of 190 and the bayou road pointing towards Dreyfus, it's on the south side of 190.

If you are coming north toward Alexandria, it's a prettier drive to jump off I-10 west side of the Mississippi at Port Allen, run north to US 190, then west on US 190 to US 71, then north on US 71 to Alexandria where you can jump back onto I-49 or continued north on US 71 to Bossier City, or north on US 167 to Ruston, or north on US 165 to Monroe.

Watch all of the little towns, speeders really add to their city coffers down here.

If your timing is such that you'll need to spend the night in the Alexandria area, we have an extra bedroom that you're welcome to use.

Our home phone is 318-640-6615; my cell 318-446-6328, Polly's cell 318-451-6328.

Thanks for the offer of a bed,but we have ours with us. We've been exploring the coast since January and have a couple more stops to make before we head to Natchitoches. We found a fellow smoking sausage etc. near the Tickfaw state park. Will explore this area a few more days and then head west. I want to see if there is still a beach at Holly Beach. I'll give you a call when we get near your area. Coffee sounds good and I know there are great oyster po- boys and bread pudding in couple of places in Natchitoches.

We just bought a travel trailer this past May. Picked it up in New Mexico planning to be home in three weeks. Went to Bend & Springfield, Oregon to visit Polly's uncle and Chester/Carolyn Martin and then to Everett, Washington to visit our youngest son. Five weeks later we got home, only because Polly had an engagement requiring us to be home.

It really is nice to have your own bed & bath. And, it's nice to visit with your neighbors in RV parks, something you don't do in a hotel/motel.

Raymond: I'm looking at the message forum, but I don't know "nuttin'" about crawfish! I'm jealous of all your wandering around looking for it, though.

Polly & I are planning on running up to the Smokey Mountain National Park in April to see the Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrom in bloom. We understand the Cades Cove Loop is closed, until May 21, while they resurface and expand the Cove Loop Road to two lanes, still one way, but with the right lane available to slower traffic and for stopping while traffic can continue in the left lane. That will mean no traveling the Parson's Branch Road or the Rich Mountain Road but you can still go up to the Cataloochie Valley, see the elk, and the Little River Road and the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Balsam Mountain Road. :) We love it up there.

Might even try to run on up to Jamestown & the Yorktown Battleground up at Norfolk, VA. Will have to see how our timing works out.

Maybe some others will jump on here, on the Message Forum page, this page, you talk about whatever or one can go to the User Forums page and set up a discussion(s) about a specific subject.

Rosalie; Wandering is something Mary and I do very well. It's taken us a month or so to get from Florida to Louisiana. If you don't know nuttin about crawfish, some the best were in Minden last year but I can't remember the exact location like Bill can.

Sounds like a good trip Bill,Kentucky now has the largest elk herd east the Mississippi. They thrive on the reclaimed mountain tops after mining.

Raymond, don't know if y'all are going up through the Little Rock area of Arkansas but Karen put us onto a neat place a couple of years ago. It's about an hour west of Little Rock, south of I-40, called Petit Jeanne State Park. They have numerous hiking trails there and a waterfall right behind the lodge. The waterfall can't be seen from the lodge, it's about an hour's hike each way. Not a big one but we like it. They have RV parking areas, rental cabins, a lodge overlooking a canyon. The dining room has one wall glassed in overlooking the canyon. They also have a couple of teepees for rent, a canoe comes with each teepee for use on a small lake right next to the teepees.

Not far west of Petit Jeanne is another high peak, I think it's Mt. Nebo, has a Sunrise Point and a Sunset Point, great views of both and there is a high overlook over the Arkansas River. You probably would not want to drive an RV or travel trailer up Nebo, it has some steep and hairpin curves.

Hey, I'm going to go over to the "User Forums" page and start a discussion on places we (our classmates) have enjoyed visiting and want to recommend to others. I'd likee to limit it to scenic places like National Parks, historic places, etc. Someone else can start another discussion on cruises or such. Just let me know the title of any "forum" you want and I'll add it, then you can add related "topics".

Raymond, thanks for sending me to this site. Afraid I don't know of any crawfish places but maybe someone from dear old NHS will come through. Sounds like you and Mary are having a blast. About Bill's suggestion on Petit Jean, I have never been but I know of a lot of people that have been. Can't wait for the reunion. I'll keep my eye on the message forum. Thanks again.

Raymond, where are the elk herds in KY? One of my best friends from Border Patrol days on the Rio Grande lives in LaGrange just out of Louisville. I was enroute to GA on my motorcycle years ago, from Dallas, and stopped by to visit him. He and his wife also had a big bike and we toured the horse country over east of Louisville. Beautiful country and the KY state capitol is something to see also.

We found craw fish but no Internet for a few days. We parked at Breaux Bridge and supported the cajun economy until yesterday. Bill I think we've been to Nebo. You can break loose an empty pickup on the switch backs, but its great at the top. The elk in Kentucky are in 14 southeastern counties. Mary and I spent about 10 days on a reclaimed mountain top in KNOTT county.I counted as many as 100 grazing within 200 feet of the camper.Google Kentucky elk for lots of info.

Raymond. Just sent you a message to the wrong place. I am seriously electronically challanged! Stop in New Roads on your way up to Natchitoches. We will have some seriously good crawfish. Di

Need your help. Just got an Email invitation from Hotel Monteleon for Eudora Welty's 101st birthday party. Wasn't she in our class? Would hate for her to think I don't remember her. Di

Diane; We'll have to wait on anymore crawfish until we return for the reunion.
Judy; I don't type well enough to give much of description of our travels. This was brought to my attention last week in the Haynesville library by Martha Scott as she watched me try to bring up this site on a library computer. Small world isn't it.
Rosalie; The crawfish hole #2 in Minden still has good crawfish if you would like to try them.
How's this for conserving cyberspace.
