Bo and I started Chinamerica Radio, a fulltime Internet radio station playing top-popular contemporary Chinese music (Mandarin and Cantonese), hosted in English. I also Host/Produce a weekly 3 hour Country Show, on about 100 radio stations in the U.S. Other than a few radio management jobs outside NYC for a few years each, I've lived here since 1971.
Bo was born in Yunnan Province in Southwestern China and raised near Beijing. Bo previously worked in NYC at the Chinese Consulate and in Canberra, Australia at the Chinese Embassy. He is a hair stylist, skin care specialist, and make-up artist with a degree in business from Beijing Technical University.
We met in 2006 and I try to visit China annually to see his friends and family there. I was just there in April-May 2023.
My name in school was Warren Mal Stephens. In high school, my friend J.L. Embrey (class of 65) and I built a radio studio at his house where we recorded our own make-believe radio shows. Of course, we both needed "stage names", so I flipped mine around to be "Steve Warren", which has been my legal name since 1965 and the only name I have ever used professionally. Bo's married name is Bo Qiao-Warren
After NAHS, I attend I.U. Southeast for 2 years, then moved to Florida fpr a year to attend a radio technical school, then back to Indianapolis to work at radio stations for 5 years and finish I.U. at Indy campus and Bloomington. Over the years I also did some legal studies at L.A. Community College and Hunter College in NYC. While living in Indianapolis, I taught 6th grade for 2 years.
On September 22, 2019 I was honored at NAHS to become a member of the NAHS Hall of Fame.

Following my visit to NAHS for the Hal of Fame induction luncheon in September, I returned to NYC to start prepping for our biggest holiday of the year at home...Halloween. Check out our decor and guests.
Happy birthday

Hi all. I wanted to share with you that my sister Lisa Stephens passed away on May 4 in Jeffersonville. She was my only sibling and although we were 12 years apart in age, she hung around me and my NAHS friends as a tag-along. She was born in 1957 while I was in class at Hazelwood. I finally had a little sister. She lived here in New York for about 20 years and wants her ashes brought here for dispersal at some of her favorite spots. There will be no service or funeral in Indiana. Many of you from our Ekin Avenue neighborhood will remember her. Cause of death was complications from severe COPD.
