Hey Martha! Where are you in AZ? I remember moving to Flagstaff in December of '97 from Summit County in Colorado (Breckenridge, Copper Mt., and Keystone Ski Area towns) to get out of the snow. We rented a house with a very long driveway at the foot of one of the volcanoes. It was dry and warm, sooo nice. Then just before Christmas we had the single biggest heavy wet show storm I can remember. My car was buried for a month.

We then moved to the desert and loved it. Gila for the Spring, then Sedona for Summer and Fall.

One of my favorite coffee shops is Campus Coffe Bean in Flagstaff just south of the RailRoad tracks.

Hey Mark! Where are you in California? I was living in Berkeley for a while. A very cool town! I have visited San Francisco regularly for many years. Several times I have been there in July and August and had to purchase heavy winter coats. Perhaps you are familiar with this Mark Twain quote:

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

I can relate!!

It was really nice to visit Newaygo this Thanksgiving. For those of you who have stayed there, I can only imagine that your lives have been cosy up there in the trees. It is so quiet and peacfeul.

I brought Theresa, my wife - a city girl for sure, and she fell in love with Newaygo. It feels like home even to strangers.

By the way, I am impressed with Newaygo's up-and-coming look! Who is the sign-maker there? I'd be interested in having signs made there to ship down here to Florida. Very nice! The signage in and around Newaygo is high-end.

Newaygo has big potential right there on the Muskegon.

How much snow did you get in Newaygo? It sounds bad. Drive carefully.

Hi Mark! Remember me? Anyway, as for snowfall in Newaygo, I don't know the exact numbers, I think it varies in the different areas, but in Croton here there appears to be about 4 inches on the top of the patio table we forgot to get put away! Overall, compared to the "end of the world" that was forecast for us, it's a "normal" snowfall.

As for the "Crack-book"....it's not "addicting" for me. I have my morning coffee while checking it out, and that's about all. I have a lot of Ponce's family members on it that I wouldn't normally talk to on a regular basis (big family!), so it's nice to be able to keep up with them - plus I've got some former co-workers and older friends, etc. that I talk with. So, I guess it's what you make it.

How is the Christmas gift shopping going for everyone? It's crunch time!

Be safe out there hustling around!

I was going to ask the same question. How's everyone's holiday stress going? As for me not good. But, over the years I've realized Christmas comes and goes and it usually turns out good no matter what I get done or not. It takes the stress level down a notch. Well, everyone have a very Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year. This is the last time I'll have to check in before the big day. Enjoy.....................

All I have left is the gift wrapping. I also need to buy our dog some treats. I'm sure she doesn't realize that Christmas is a special day, but I would feel bad if she didn't have something under the tree.

I'm fortunate and thankful that 2009 was a good year and I hope that 2010 is better for everyone.

Not only a full moon - but a Blue Moon - so those things that happen only once in a blue moon - yep, that's right - they're happening tomorrow night....so everyone drive home from those parties extra safely!!

I work for the River Valley News Shopper, and we just went online: wwwrivervalleyshopper.com - not sure if the pages will load for those with dial up (like me, haven't tried it yet) - but I wrote a little "ditty" for the "news/editorial" section and it made it in. So, I'm a "published" writer. It's high school caliber writing at best, but it was fun.

Thanks for the nice words about my story, ladies. I don't know if I will do more or not - I didn't ask permission to put that in, just did it....how's everyone's new year going? Weather's been pretty mild as of late....thought it was supposed to be a "hard" winter?????

If anyone remembers Chuck Adrianse's brother Dean, he was a staple here in Croton - he passed away a couple of weeks ago...it was sudden, and such a shock for us Crotonites! He was only 48.

Paula Hanlon (Veneklase)

Kim, I do remember Chuck but I do not remember Dean. So sorry to hear of his passing though. Thoughts and prayer for that family. And still praying for you too. Another loss so close to yours.... and another loss happening with so much life to be lived yet. That's what gets to me most. Take Care......

Where is Chuck now? Still in Michigan?

Paula-I like the picture updates! My daughter Mikal is living in Auburn Hills...basically Rochester Hills. Right across the street from Oakland University. What's next for your son?

Finding full-time work. Now he is part-time merchandizer for Kraft Foods, scheduled to have a full-time interview in Feb. He is an assistant boys swim coach @ Stoney Creek HS in Rochester Hills. He would like to find a graduate's assistant program somewhere as a swim coach. He's got OU coaches looking for a opening, he'd like to go back and get his master's in business. But, due to alot of cuts some of those programs where the first to go. We'll see, he's got options. Justin actually lives in Beacon Hills apt. in Auburn Hills right across the street from OU. What is Mikal doing there? Justin likes it there, being apart of OU's swim team helped him make many nice friends. I don't see him coming back this way unless a job brings him here. That's the scoop on that..Hope your 2010 is off to a nice start. Mine is.....take care.....

PS.. Where you over there for the holidays to see all the lights they had going on? It was crazy as my picture shows. It was very pretty. The city was packed with people and many were setting up tripods taking pictures.

Paula! Mikal lives in Beacon Hill apts. too!
I moved her there January 2nd.

So I didn't see the holiday splendor of Rochester Hills, but maybe for Christmas of 2010.
