FINKEL, Marshall G.

Dr. Marshall G. Finkel, 67, of Delray Beach, FL died on April 22, 2014, with his beloved wife of 42 years, Krysia, by his side. He was born to the late Col. Joshua and Hazel Finkel, November 27, 1946, at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. Marshall graduated from Newton High School in 1964, received a B.Sc. with honors in Psychology in 1968 and a M.D.,C.M. degree in 1972, both from McGill University.Marshall married the love of his life, Krysia, in 1972, and they lived in Greenlawn, NY before relocating to Florida in 2005. Marshall was a physiatrist until he retired in 1995. He was passionate about helping veterans and their families, which he did in his work at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, NY. Whether reading about astronomy or making the perfect sailing knot, Marshall loved books. He was at his happiest lost for hours in the stacks at the Strand Book Store.Marshall is survived by his wife, Krysia Finkel, of Delray Beach; his mother, Hazel Finkel, of Oceanside, CA; his daughter, Lisa Broock (Scott), of Burlingame, CA. Marshall was a gleeful grandpa and is also survived by his two granddaughters: Olivia and Violet, of Burlingame, CA. A memorial service will be held at 1:45 pm today at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel at 11115 Jog Road in Boynton Beach. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bob Woodruff Foundation to help veterans and their families.

Marshall, you were a great friend through Newton High, McGill and years after.  I remember your daughter Lisa at 1 year old crawling all over me, now she is a mother of 2.  Fond memories Marshall.  Be well.
