It is with great sadness that I tell you that Tom Grieve passed away on July 31, in Dallas, TX. Tom had been in the hospital most of the time since he was the victim of an automobile accident in October of last year and died as a result of complications from that accident.
If you knew Tom in high school where he had the nickname of “Temper” you may not have recognized him as an adult. He was the most thoughtful, courteous person you could ever meet. He had a fascinating career as a pilot for American Airlines for 30 years. But what he really liked to talk about was the many years he worked in security at the American Airlines Center in Dallas and for the Texas Rangers. His position at AAC was “Star Security” which meant that from the time a performer arrived, until they left, he was by their side. Being friendly and gregarious he connected with many of the performers and had mementos from them. He also became friendly with players from the Dallas Stars hockey team, the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and the Texas Rangers baseball team. Despite all of this he was a devoted Boston sports fan all of his life.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest next to his sister in California.
