I agree with comments around sticking with the September date.  Given all we know about Covid and vaccines, this date hopefully gives us the best chance for having a maskless event!   Happy New Year to all!

I'd stick with September for a more normal event. The world is not instantly going to return to normal.

I, too, agree that September seems like a much better idea for "50+1".

Happy New Year to all.  I agree with keeping the 50 + 1 in September. Getting the vacine rollout started smoothly seems to be a bit of a challenge. Let's make this happen! Really looking forward to gathering together. Regards, Deb

The Bills are for real! Hopefully they can get by KC and move on to the Super Bowl!

Remember the first Super Bowl?

I do remember watching the first AFL-NFL World Championship Game with my family. But it's hard to tell if my memories of the actual game are my own or those implanted by seeing all the replays over the years. Nevertheless, it was a pretty good game between the Chiefs v Packers.
However, I'm hoping for the opposite teams to win their AFC/NFC Divisional Championship games this weekend leading to a Bills v Bucs battle. And of course, finally a Super Bowl win for Buffalo!
I was able to get up to Liverpool & New Jersey during the holidays. My sons made sure they updated my wardrobe and  got me a new Bills hoodie for Christmas. There are a couple of fellow CNYers in my senior softball league that I'll be watching the games with, proudly wearing my new apparel.
Like many people I look forward to the commercials and seeing how the cost for a 30 second commercial is as out of control as the players salaries. The price during the first SB was 45K. This year it's $5.6Mil. Crazy.
And is it just me thats wondering who the heck is this halftime performer?
It's time to circle the wagons. Go Bills!

Congrats to the Bills on a great season! Looking forward to next year!

Hope everyone is staying healthy and making the most of these trying times!

Hardest part about the covid situation is the isolation from family and friends. I suspect when we get to the other side of this crisis, we will have to cut loose! In the meantime if you are feeling blue or have cabin fever, feel free to vent a bit on this forum! Be sure to share good news as well!

Hang in there kids!

Fins up!

Second shot for Joanne and I is next Tuesday.  Seems strange to be looking forward to a needle -- but these are strange times.

I always did like Pat Benatar - "Hit me with your best shot!!!"  Not to hurry along Father Time, but "Fire away" Moderna #2 for Sara & I on 02/18/20.

Has been hard to get vaccine here in Albany, NY area. Some friends have gone to Potsdam, Plattsburgh and Utica. I tried the phone hotline Friday and got an appointment for February 19th here @ Albany State Campus. Best of luck to everyone trying to get the vaccine. Not sure if it is a life changer but sure is a relief!

Please take note that we have had some new people join the site. Remember to encourage anyone you may know to join if not already signed up. Also be sure to reach out to new people and welcome them! The isolation created by the pandemic is a terrible thing for many of us. Hopefully social interaction will improve over the next few months. In the meantime, reach out to old friends and maybe you will make someone's day brighter!

Hang in there gang and stay safe and healthy!

The first day it was announced in NY that 65 year olds could sign up for the vaccines my wife and I went on both our phones to sign up (you can only make one appointment at a time and she wanted to go together) This was the middle of January.  We got appointments for March 2nd. By the end of the following day they were making appointments for the end of March. This definitely upset me do to my age, compromised immunity system, and the fact I am considered an essential worker. Now for the good part.  Yesterday (Sunday 1/31) my wife got a call from one of her friends at approximately 5pm. Her friend said they had extra doses at the ON Center if we could get right down there we could get our 1st dose. Needless to say we have received our !st dose. 2nd dose appointment is set.  We consider our selves lucky !!!!

We got our 2nd shots today !!!!!

Indiana seems much more organized than NY. Have my first and scheduled for second. Hubby has had both. When age drops appointments available in a few days. But they are slowly dropping ths age so fewer people competing for doses at one time. My brother in NY could not get an appointment until April 5th.

Eventually we will all get there. 👍

I received my second dose today! Even got a sticker to celebrate the fact! New York State can always afford the bling!

The vaccination site at SUNY Albany was efficient and ran smoothly.

So glad that there is some light at the end of this dark tunnel!

Going to Buffalo and Syracuse soon to hug and kiss all the grandchildren!

Joanne and I got our second doses back on February 2nd -- Moderna vaccine.  There's rumors out there that the second dose is "worse" than the first.  Neither of us experienced any reaction to either dose.

Neither of us had any reaction. Dave had Pizer amd I had Moderna. All good. I see New York dropped quarantine for those vaccinated. Good news for those of us out of state with family still there.

Happy to hear many people getting vaccinated.  My husband and I are due for our 2nd shot (Mederma) next week.  It is reassuring to me when I read responses that some of you have not experienced reactions to doses especially 2nd one as I have heard the opposite.  Looking  forward to being in Syracuse this Spring - Summer and hopefully celebrating a return to less sheltering life and our 50+ Reunion!!  Keep the faith!  ☺️

I am due to get my second (Moderna) vaccine next week.  I have some friends in healthcare who have said hydrating prior to the shot helps diminish any uncomfortable reactions....

Sara's 2nd Moderna was uneventful, but my day two was like something out of CCR's 🎶"Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door" (i.e.: missing seconds, awareness & coordination off, frontal lobe headache, wierder than usual mental state😎).  Days three+ have been smooth sailing!  I'd recommend Moderna shot #2 candidates plan on taking the day after with no commitments.  Good times ahead gang!

"weirder" - blaming all these things on residual effects

So exciting to see all the progress with receiving the vaccines. We live in west Michigan and have been very pleased. We received our first Moderna dose January 12, the day after it opened up for our age range. Our second dose was February 9. I had no side efects and my husband had mild discomfort after the 2nd one. Both times we were in and out in 25-30 minutes, including a 15-minutes wait time to monitor for immediate side effects. I stay in touch with Gary Huges and his wife, who live in St Louis, MO and they just got their 1st dose about 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to the reunion in September. Many thanks to John for all you do with the site and the reunions.

If it snows anymore, I won't be able to see my house:)  Fortunately, it hasn't snowed for 3 days.  Hear it'll be spring in a couple of days.  I wonder if the tulips are popping up.
