Sad to report I heard Bobby Keenan has passed away. His brother Jim had passed a few years ago.

What happened with the auction? Do we know yet about if Borios will be available

07/30/21 10:28 PM #571

John Vincent

I have heard from Marty Borio that the auction went very well. All he could say was that the transition was going to go very smooth. He had not worked out details with the buyer yet. It is probably too early to say for sure but I am hopeful our reunion will go on as planned at Borio's. Will update as Marty confirms their plans.

Please reach out to any contacts you have and let them know about the reunion. Get them to join the site and follow through on the fifty plus one attendee section. People that use Facebook should post about the reunion and see if they can get others to participate on our reunion site. Any other recruitment ideas are more than welcome!

Thanks for any input and all your support!

Fins up!

John

Just heard again from Marty Borio. He has a meeting with the new owner this Monday to discuss transition. His exact words to me was that he thought they would be doing our function. He will contact me after that meeting. So keep your fingers crossed and let's hope we can gather at least one more time at Borio's!

I will report back again as soon as I hear from Marty. I can only imagine how bittersweet this is for Marty, Amy and the rest of their family! Too bad Chuckie was not here now to make the transition. We will miss him at the reunion!

keepthose fins up high!

Cliff,

Glad you can make it! The Borio's event is from 1pm to 5 pm Sunday, 9/19/21.

So far, no other announced events. Had tried to have school tours, but the administrators are too concerned with covid issues, and they passed on that idea.

If anyone or any group wants to have any kind of a get together please feel free to post plans here!

Fins up!

Just a cupla suggestions for 'other' activities for our upcoming reunion weekend:  Some sort of scavenger hunt; If any social tennis players are attending maybe organize a mixed dubs round robin (CNS has 6 outdoor tennis courts so doubtful administrators would have a Covid 'issue' and I'll can bring my bag/racquets/balls along); For the golfers maybe a co-ed 9-hole tourney; For us non-real golf folks a miniature golf tourney; Maybe an outdoor co-ed basketball or volleyball game?  For those of us coming in from other states it might be nice to have 1 or 2 additional class activities in addition to the actual reunion celebration...just my opinion.  Would love to hear everyone's thoughts and/or other activity ideas!

All great suggestions but I will be glad to just pull off the Borio's event given all that is going on. But I encourage any group to offer other activities. Please use this forum to reach out to people!
I know there are lots of concern over the covid situation and traveling. I am hoping for a nice day so that we can gather outside as well as indoors. Also hoping that all political opinions can be on hold for the day!
For people opting in for masks or not, let's not judge anyone! Just pretend it is a neck tie or hat for Pete's sake!

There will be a check in station at the event and the admittance fee will be $35.00 per person. Please have the exact cash with you. There will be a cash bar and the admittance fee will cover the food portion of the event.

Please bring any yearbooks, pictures or other artifacts to share with folks. We can set up a display table if needed.

Take care all and stay as safe as possible. If anything changes I will post those here on this site only.

Keep those fins up!

Thanks John for ALL you do and have done; I know we all appreciate you.  Since no one responded to my suggestions I'm gonna take that as a 'not interested'--all good. My flights and hotel are booked and I'm fully vaccinated (trying to get my Pfizer booster ASAP) and will be wearing a mask during the event/maintaining social distance purely for everyone's health and safety (definitely NOT political!) and will continue respecting anyone and everyone who has made a different choice.  See you all in a couple of weeks!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in less than two weeks and want to say a huge THANK YOU to you, John, for all your work on arranging this around Covid and the sale of Borio's"s!   You have done a marvelous job!!  See all on the 19th!

Hi John and classmates -

Thanks for all the efforts and interest in getting together for our reunion despite all the obstacles!  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Borio's (nostalgic site of my wedding reception!) on Sept 19.

For those of us who will get into town by Saturday Sept. 18, here are a few events on that date that I found on the internet.  They are: outdoors, open to all, free, in the "north" area of the Syracuse region, and could have a vague claim to "nostalgia".  If anyone is interested, we could pick a time to meet at one or more event and chat while enjoying the activities.

Michele ("Missy")

Great post Michele!

Looking forward to seeing you!

Hopefully the attendee list has been corrected. Not very good with technology!

Nice thing about Borios is we can stick around after the event! It will be bittersweet though, now with new owners!  Also sad that Chuck Borio will not be there!

Pamela,

The sign up was only to reach a ball Park number for Borios. Not sure why a couple names did not get added.

Out of 100 people it has only happened to three. Maybe you signed off before it was finalized? Be sure to answer the survey again and see if it works.

No matter what, everybody is welcome and I encourage everyone to spread the word! No sign up is necessary.

Hoping for nice weather because Borios has a nice outside area!

John
