How do you post a picture? Why is it here and not as a profile?  So untechy sometimes.

John,

I actually came upon my "Sherrif's ID" card back a couple of years ago.  I looked so much younger!

Good to see folks visiting and posting here.  Hope all is well in upstate NY.

Wow.  Sherriff's IDs and reminders that we're eligible for Medicare.  Doesn't seem real.

Yes many of you will be signing up for Medicare this year I had to do it last year so I'm ahead of some of you. Having to do that I felt like I was entering or joining my parents generation !!!!!! lol Still trying to getting use to having Medicare !!!

I also still have my sherriffs ID I have it put safely away in my fire proof safe, for safe keepings along with other important documents like my birth certicate & Socal Security card. It's funny because I have that but don't have my 1st NYS drivers license but have some of the more recent ones.

I hope when it's time for any of my fellow classmates have to sign up for Medicare, it all goes smoothly for you without any complications.

Good Luck to all of you

Donna

I am always trying to think of ways to get folks involved in this forum.

Just heard the song Expressway to my Heart by Soul Survivor.

Immediately I remembered Teen Canteen at Andrews Methodist Church!

We had so much fun!

Thinking of Frank, Jimbo, Bill, Rocky, Lorna, Cindy, Connie and on and on.

Think I am nuts! I really do not care! Let's hear your comments.

I can remember going there. I had such a good time, Dancing and hanging out with friends.    I also remember Friday night football games at North Syracuse high school.  Anyone remember the name of the Donut shop at the end of the path.   So many good memories

John,

I also have a weird musical connection to those church dances.  I remember hearing the song  "Heard it Through the Grapevine" at one of those dance nights.   I think it was played live by some group called the Pineapple Herd at one of those dances.  That song has been used for so many commercials over the years.  Every time it plays it reminds me of when I first recall hearing it.  I just looked up the history of the song and it looks like the timing was right.  The famous version wasn't released until fall of 1968 -- so fall of our junior year.  The first release was in 67.  Were we going to those dances as sophmores or juniors or both?

I think we were going to those dances as freshmen and sophomores.

How about the Fayetteville Inn with Mike Butler at the wheel? (Purple Haze!)

And Frank Rose was a good driver too! We were all so lucky to stay alive!

The band that played at Canteen many times was the one the Geno brothers had.

What was there name?

Pat and Louie Geno were in it with Pat Woznica.

The Genos owned a service garage at the end of my street!

The donut shop was actually a Dunkin Donuts at first. My Mom and sister worked there.

Our dog, Clem used to hang out there!

Remember when everyone had a dog on the loose?

Will always remember the dances at St. Andrews -- great friends, great dancing and great music!  I think the dances at the church were the beginning of a bigger circle of places we all enjoyed.  How about the Scene, the Barrel of Fun, Holiday Inn, Suburban Park and the Barge on Burnett Ave.?  I am sure there are many more I am not thinking of.  And then the after spots -- Heids and Jim's Fish Fry were a couple of my favorites.  And there was also the diner Mark Cordone ran on Salina Street -- think it was called Poodles.  If it was really late, you could just stop by Columbus Bakery for a hot loaf of bread.  Those were the good old days. Thanks for giving us the Forum, so we can share the great memories of the past, John.  Great connection tool!

Before Mark corrects you Frank, it was The Studio Deli.

Home of the Studio Omelete!

They had those Gorilla sandwiches that Rosie liked!

This thread is great!

Hope everyone is smiling and remembering those years.

Correct me but did we have to wear ties to those dances? Lol!

And Bill, how about Shultzes and the pool hall in Mattydale!

Great memory Frank!

How many times did we see the Sermon at Holiday Bowl after Happy Hour at Wanda's?

Before 690 was built!

Loved those Teen Scene dances! As well as The Place (corner of Rt 11 & Bear Rd), The Old Schoolroom, The Jailhouse, and demolished today - The Scene. The school dances and the NS football games. Anyone remember the Mom & Pop store across from SweetHeart Market. It had the most popular pay phone in town after a game! And, of course, Williams pizza! Those were the days!

Hey John' just saw The Sermon this past year at a reunion concert! Jam Factory was my favorite! Went to the Sammy's a year ago where they won. It was great to hear & dance to them one more time, "Talk Is Cheap".

The Old Schoolroom. That's a memory! I was trying to remeber the name just a few weeks ago when I was talking to my brother!  Age has fogged some of the names but you dont forget the fun!

John, how about the American Legion and the VFW in Mattydale, or did I just dream I went there!

03/29/17 08:02 PM #166

John Vincent

Now we have the forum hopping!

I was only in the VFW back in the late seventies to remodel it!

But I am sure Joe and you wandered in there at some time Bill!

The Schoolroom was very crazy! I know lots of Cicero folks went there for lunch at times!

Some more venues include The Bump, The Red Dog Saloon, Lums, Sportsorama and how about Hafners?

I was in there on opening day!

Loved those day glow eyes Karen!

Jerry Cali was my big brother when I pledged Zeus. Saw him a couple of years ago playing at Borios.

He was the Jerry in the Janguars! Loved their cover of Mustang Sally!
