Traveling way out to check out the Erie Blvd scene. Uncle Sams & Capt. Mac's and as Karen mentioned the Yellow Balloon. And then hitting up the Barrel of Fun &  Shifty's on the way back north. Crazy daze indeed!

Seems like yesterday when we used to clean the Scene with Ray!

Still remember Clark playing the drums!

Then back to school before noon. Just in time for lunch!

We used to go A+W between double sessions football practice!

How many remember Martin's Chicken on the Rough! Or Florentos!

That is where Tully's is now!

And who can forget the Bear Road Market! Used to use my Canadian green card there to buy

Colt 45!  Only time those French Classes seemed worthwhile!

Thank god there was no Homeland Security back then!

I need to throw out a few more places I remember growing up.

How about the Pit!

Tri-Town Park before they filled it in?

The swimming hole quarry on South Bay Road!

The swimming hole near Hafners property on Allen Road.

The "hill" @ Roxboro Junior High.

That place over near Bear Road that had the great hill?

How about bumper hopping cars in the village after snowfalls!

Field Days!

And who remembers the one summer that there were trampolines installed in the parking lot at Northern lights?

Sam's Hobby Shop!

The Pit!!  I remember I used to go there all the time...it wasn't far from my house. Now they don't even want you to slide down anymore...someone might get hurt and sue the village!!  Tri-Town Park is a place I used to go to ice skate on the weekends.  Even had my picture taken for the Herald Journal one Sunday.

Anyone else used to go to the Post Office building next to Main Street Elementary and ride the elevator up and down before school? We used to get yelled at alot for that!

All these things are such great memories.  I wonder what kind of memories the kids of today will have...

How many dinner trays did we go thru sledding down Lab after hours?  I never heard Bob Wilson say a thing, although he must have known.

How about letter sweaters, frat jackets (and what else?) that pulled us together and taught us the value of comraderie.  Karen's Outer Mongolia ski team....

So much has changed for kids growing up now. I witness the change when I watch my grandchildren.

I sometimes wonder if they have it better than us or not. I guess every generation has their thing.

Lots of pros and cons for all generations! Remember how our parents told us about how hard their lives were? They were told the same by their parents!

I do think we were very lucky with our experience growing up. We had freedoms and guidance along with love and the parents that were willing to let us be ourselves.

It is such a different world out there now.

How about the things that are becoming extinct?

Wall phones, standard shift cars, hitchhiking, sand lot games with no parents around, crossing guards (Pops!), kids riding bikes everywhere, passing notes in class, and so much more!

Your right John , You never see kids outside playing  nobody ever walks.or even rides a bike.  Like you when I watch my Grandchildren they all have I Pads , phones always in front of them.

Two words sum it up!

Helicopter parents!

We were lucky our parents did not watch every move we made!

How did we ever survive in school without a cell phone! I mean how were our parents supposed to get in touch with us in case of an emergency!

John Vincent

Good point Bill!

How many people had curfews?

I remember my father telling me to always carry a dime in case I needed to call!

How things have changed!

Can you imagine how we would have abused texting!

I still do not text! Call me anytime!

04/25/17 01:34 PM #185

Hope everyone is enjoying this spring weather!

If any folks are traveling this summer, please look me up if in the Albany, NY area!

Also if interested, we should consider an informal reunion next fall?

John V., I just might be headed out to visit a cousin in Cropseyville the week after Memorial Day. If so maybe we can meet at one of the many brew pubs in the area.
My spring adventures have me coming up to Liverpool the next several weeks to do some  cleanup chores for my mom.
During my visit I plan on catching some CNY lacrosse action starting with this Sunday nights SU game.
Also I see C-NS has their last regualar season home game on Tuesday 5/16 @ 7:00.
There are also a couple of Onondaga Redhawks box lacrosse games on 5/20 & 21. Those are always fun.
If anyone is going to any of these games (Sam Anderson) and wants to meet up, post a note here or give me a call. My cell# is 315-657-4907

Been thinking about you!

Linda has her 40th reunion at Cobleskill this fall.

Let's try and get together for sure!

Tuesday 5/16/17 7PM @ CNS is ON!  CNS has a 5-8 record with a strenth of schedule rated at 7.7 vs. B'ville's 11-5 and 10.9, but Monday eve, with my Lpool teacher daughter and grandson, I saw similarly ranked underdog LPool tied with favored F-M until the Hornets pulled out a game winner in the last two minutes.

Anyone else who can make it, call us at the game.  Dave's cell above. My cell 315-243-6439. Better call Dave, cause I can't hear squat when it's noisy.
