IN LOVING MEMORY

Ken peacefully passed away on March 6, 2024 surrounded by his immediate family. He leaves behind his wife Diane, three children; David, Andrew and Kelly; 5 grandchildren and his two sisters, Mary Laurie and Cathy Bailey.

Ken was born in Vancouver and spent most of his young life in the Dunbar area. His family moved to North Vancouver in his early teens where he established many of his long lasting friendships. He attended Delbrook High School and then the University of British Columbia (UBC) where he received his Bachelor of Commerce. During his time at UBC he played Rugby and throughout his life enjoyed playing almost any competitive sport.

He often talked about his summer jobs he had between school semesters. The jobs were usually in the BC bush logging, prospecting, mining and diamond drilling. He loved the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and throughout his life revisited these experiences with his friends and children taking them canoeing, horseback riding and hiking.

Eventually he married Diane (1966) and moved out to the Fraser Valley where he established his career in Real Estate. Along the way he invested in the Self-Storage business, building two facilities and became an expert on running and developing this type of business. He was a founding member of the Canadian Self Storage Association which is still ongoing today.

Ken was a gentle giant with a loud voice and a presence that you couldn’t ignore. However, he is best remembered by his wonderful sense of humour and his funny stories. He would like to be remembered as being a very, very funny guy.

Contributions in Kenneth's memory may be made to BC Lung Foundation, https://bclung.ca/make-donation or to a charity of your choice.
