By the way Steve I listen and watch PBS I think Rush and Hannety got to full of themselves I was watching Hannety just last night. Way to partisan for this time in our lives. Just my opinion! I'm not on Facebook but just talking to you is very important to me. Be safe buddy.

Posted on facebook today...had a little time on my hands:

I smell a rat! Did God cause the Great Depression or was it Mankind? Human Fear caused it, that, and the ability to buy securities on margins of up to 90% meaning when a stock dropped below the 10% or 20% down payment used to control it, margin's were called by the brokerage firm and investors had to anti-up the difference! then because they didn't have the $, a few folks jumped out of skyscrapers. Markets dropped, more people panicked and simply quit buying goods and services causing crippling unemployment! Finally the Great Depression hit! - Buying on margins and Security laws changed in 1936, but the current media feeding frenzy over Covid19 and liberal politicians are causing unnecessary panic thus heading this country down the same dark drain as 1929! Certainly the Covid19 virus situation is serious, but it pales next to drug and Alcohol related deaths, obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and auto accidents; pick just one! Yet Fear, caused by faithless people, certain politicians and media hacks is forcing millions into unemployment, and also to be Leary of one another even pushing folks to wear white masks around the house! And the entire thing is Trumps fault, right Trump haters? Come on folks! get a grip. Faith instead of fear, a little Horse sense, good hygiene, diet, rest, exercise and education on virus' can and will calm you down. God knows the very second your life will end on this earth, and no rubber gloves, isolation, or fiber mask will change that. - I do see some good coming out of this bogus panic; people are spending more time with their children, perhaps even praying more and II'm sure to lose a few of my fearful facebook friends over this post, Cheers, Steven Nielsen

Controversial right? I believe the numbers on the net are bogus, China too few cases, USA way too many, Etc. but I'll take the flak. Truely though, it's a tough new virus, and yes we must, and wise people do, take precautions, but unhealthy lifestyles kill far more of us (we all could take better care of ourselves, especially me at 30 lbs. overweight) than any virus. And to live in fear just makes things worse. I do believe in God our Father in Heaven, and He is in charge. Faith is a much better way to live than being fearful. As a country, we'll ultimately get past the Covid19 virus, and related hype, There is much yet to do on this ol' earth!

I applaud and appreciate your outlook with help from your faith. As you know I'm not of the LDS faith. I'm one of those coffee drunken chicken eatun Methodist. I have as deep as yours. I have been too physically close with my family as they passed away. This leads to something I rattled on was "Mother Earth, Mother Nature or Our God that purges the earth now and then"? Think about the flood Noah was the dudes name I think. Think about it, the Spanish flu really hit the world hard. Yes we are way ahead of anything that we had then but still, unless what we on the tele-screen every minute is a complete lie we got trouble brother! Hear's hopping I didn't alienate everybody. Sure do like chatting with you. "Hey, how is Facebook reacting "?

Steve, I completely skipped over your financial experience and the markets crashing in 1929. You know that had been coming with an inflated stock market and it was entirely clear to buying on the margin and also changing weather patterns that do happen and always will. Also selling short and buying futures. All in all, the biggest crap game in the world! Along comes a huge bump like a little cold ( tongue in cheek ) and all the cards fall down. Goodnight my friend.

There's a book named "The Dirty Thirtys"that I need to find. It supposedly gets in depth on the depression.

Interesting stuff guys.  You're stiring me with some of this, but it's getting later here in Texas, so will hace to call it  a night.  But, Gary, we're all brothers and sister in the human race -- never worry about offending someone.

Steve, very intersting post.  I do take slight exception to our time being predestined, but that's for a more lengthy responose.  I'll get with you guys again within a couple of days --

Acker,  Hey, I like chicken and have a cup of Jo now and again, nothing whatever fo do with the Lord, He's the center of my faith Too. Go Methodists! Really. BTW I was touched by your comment about the passing of loved ones...I was right there at Aileen Larson's bedside (Sue's Mother) when she opened her beautiful blue eyes, looked heavenward and then closed them and took her last breath! Aileen lived with us her last few months on earth. - Spanish flu, yes, a very different world back then. Virus' are an interesting study, thank heaven for the internet, info at our fingertips. - Like you I don't want to aleniate myself from anyone but having been through 7 or 8 hurricanes in Houston, I know the power of an unhinged media. One storm we had, had the freeways snarled and backed up for miles & miles, one guy finally pulled his truck over, fired up his BarB Que cooker and passed out ribs to those around him. Another friend of mine finally got to his cabin in Cold Springs TX 50 miles away and the cabin was hit by a tarnado .People that stayed home made it through just fine. Time and again it is so, even folks in Galveston! - My facebook post came back 90% positive, 10% with advice - Stock Market, you are spot on, Bro.biggest crap game goin'. I tried to find the book you mentioned, Dirty Thirties, but came up with one written by a lady and it wasn't it. I'd really like to get that book so if you find it let me know. - Hutch, thanks for your comment on predestination. I don't believe it either. Death is deep stuff and Gary so much to talk about, wish Danny were here in Utah, but let's get lunch (at a drive in of course) please call me at 832-878-2865. If you were here Dan I'd cook you a steak in my back yard. What I love about you guy's posts is the raw honesty. I've appreciated it.-  Gary, I'm sooo terribly sorry about the outcome of Danny Russell's life. I remember hearing about it but the report of you seeing him in a rest home, whoa! really rocked me. He was quite a guy. loved life. See you guys soon, Steve

Something I just posted to Linda Bardsley's profile page which perhaps our classmates would like to see.

"Linda, I am a little slow to notice you were born on an enormously famous day;  The very day and year of the invasion of Europe, D-Day.  While your mother was giving birth to you there were 22,000 young G.I's. storming the beaches of Normandy.  I'm sure this is something you've been keenly aware of your entire life?  But what makes it particularly special is this is the day YOU were born!  Bless you dear lady."

04/06/20 08:53 PM #760

Gary Acker

That was quite a time in history to be born. Mine is 7/7/44 the same as Lippy as I remember. Steve, I hope that you got my number 801 941 1651 anyone can call me! Obscene calls are only taken between 12:01 to 3:00 am. Calls will be answered in the order they came in. Seriously, I did not find a reference to that book, "The Dirty Thirtys"that I recommend. An old client recommend it to me years ago. I'm going to check the library and used book stores. Many subjects too talk about! Anyone else ever heard about that book? The dust bowl, the 29 crash and how they're all intertwined. Enough from me.

I posted a message a few days ago but aperantly it didn;t go thru. Steve, it wasn't Hendrickson who Gillespy was messing with it was Rebeka Larson. I know this because while in 7th I was a janitor after school. My job was to clean the boys and girls locker and shower rooms. One day I walked to the girls side and low and behold   there was Gib and rebeka going at it completely naked. Well think they saw me but  I got out pretty quick. She was transfered the following year to Ogden high. Gib ended up getting an devorce,  Funny stuf .  I have a lot of interesting tales, but thats enouph for now. It's fun reminising about high school.

WOW! I just looked her up in my yearbook, she was there when we were seniors I would take her over Hendricks any day. Can you imagine if we had cellphones back in the day.

You know Ferron, Phyllis was not there when we were seniors, she was when I was a sophomore though. Makes you wonder eh?

Sometimes it's hard to understand through those darned masks!

"A suspected Covid-19 male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. A young student female nurse appears and gives him a partial sponge bath.
"Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?"
Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet."
He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my testicles black?"
Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and
pulls back the covers.
She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles gently in the other.
She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir. They look fine."
The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says very slowly,
"Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen very,
very, closely:
"Are - my - test - results - back?"

I'm laughing out loud honestly Dan! Where do you get those, their great?

04/07/20 10:07 PM #766

Daniel Hutchinson

I like a good laugh too.  There are some funny ones which several of my friends from around the country send to me -- this one came from a Jewish friend in Bolivia.

I was reluctant to post, thinking it might not be appropriate for some of the more sensitive classmates, but heck sometimes it's nice to laugh a little.

Glad you liked it Gary.

P.S.  I suppose a good rule of thumb would be "if you can't tell it from the pulpit", it probably shouldn't be told at all -  I admit to being a weak mortal at times - for me repentances is an on going effort.

.

04/08/20 02:10 PM #768

Gary Acker

Oh yeah! That was me alright but I wasn't drunk or sick, the bell rang and I couldn't get out before Mr Allen came in. I didn't think anyone remembered that. It's funny now but I don't remember that Allen was too happy!

Girl: 'When we get married, I want to share all your worries, troubles and lighten your burden.'

Boy: 'It's very kind of you, darling, but I don't have any worries or troubles.'

Girl: 'Well that's because we aren't married yet.'

couple laughs for today

Anita was lying in bed one night. Larry was falling asleep but she was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk.
She said: "You used to hold my hand when we were courting."
Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep.
A few moments later she said: "Then you used to kiss me... "
Mildly irritated, Larry reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep.
Thirty seconds later she said: "Then you used to bite my neck..."
Angrily, Larry threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"To get my teeth!"

DOWN AT THE RETIREMENT CENTER
80-year old Bessie bursts into the rec room at the retirement home.
She holds her clenched fist in the air and announces, "Anyone who can
guess what's in my hand can have sex with me tonight!!"
An elderly gentleman in the rear shouts out, "An elephant?"
Bessie thinks a minute and says, "Close enough."

______________________________ _______

OLD FRIENDS
Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years,
they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their
activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards.
One day, they were playing cards when one looked at the other and
said, "Now don't get mad at me... I know we've been friends for a long
time but I just can't think of your name. I've thought and thought,
but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is."
Her friend glared at her. For at least three minutes she just stared
and glared at her. Finally she said, "How soon do you need to know?"

SENIOR DRIVING
As a senior citizen was driving down the motorway, his car phone rang.
Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Vernon, I
just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on I-25. Please be careful!"
"Hell," said Vernon, "It's not just one car. It's all of them but me!"
______________________________ _______

SUPERSEX
A little old lady who had lost her way was running up and down the
halls in a nursing home. As she ran, she would flip up the hem of her
nightgown and say "Supersex." She ran up to an elderly man in a
wheelchair, flipping her gown at him, she said, "Supersex."
He sat silently for a moment or two and finally answered, "I'll take the soup."

______________________________ _______

DRIVING  (especially in Florida)
Two elderly women were out driving in a large car - both could barely see over the dashboard.
As they were cruising along, they came to major crossroad. The stop light was red, but they just went on through.
The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself, "I must be losing it. I could have sworn we just went through a red light."
After a few more minutes, they came to another major junction and the light was red again. Again, they went right through.
The woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it.
She was getting nervous.
At the next junction, sure enough, the light was red and they went on through. So, she turned to the other woman
and said, "Mildred, did you know that we just ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us both!"
Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh! Am I driving?"

Hutch, you're on a roll ! Good ones. -  I'll come up with a couple, but next time. - To change the pace a bit, today I took a loaf of bread over to Bonnie and Ken Frew's house. just to check on them. They are well and are raising a great grand child who's mother had passed this life. You know, it's kinda interesting to me that if Ken Frew didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any...for instance their home flooded two years ago, a real mess! Then I saw them at a funeral last year when their daughter died, and they had to take over the raising of her beautiful child. They've raised 9 orphaned children, and you know they still have such tender love for each other, you can see it in their eyes. By and large they're very happy with their lives. - There are three of us from the Shupe addition (high rent district folks) at 7th and Wall who married their childhood sweethearts and are still togethere; myself, Ken Frew and David Spindon. - Hey can someone bring me up on Jerry Davis? He married Sharon Kappleman as I remember and they lived on 7th. Sharon had some kind of muscular illness and I've not kept up on how she and they are doing.

Thanks for the update on Frew Steve, Pete Crompton used to live in the shupe addition also I have a picture of Gary Wilson, Pete and I taken right around graduation standing in front of his house. Pete is in California the last that I heard I used to see his sister in law but I never hear from him. Wilson lives in Ontario Oregon but nothing from him either. Jerry that rascal is still married to Sharon she has dealt with muscular dystrophy her whole life but still has the same wit about her. I have seen Spinden at car shows and around town still doing cars.

How about this one; A guy walks into a Dentist Office and so the dentist says, how can I help you? The guy says "I think I'm a moth ". The dentist says you need a psychiatrist! The guy says "I know " Well why did you come in here then? " Your light was on "

Love the groaners, Gary.

Hearing of the Frews is very interesting -- so commendable.  Thank you for that, Steve.  Ken and his wife sound like saints here on earth.

Jerry and his wife, Sharon were at the 55th reunion and I had a very nice visit with them. I recall she was wearing an oxygen tube then.  I would be very interested in hearing about them, and some of of our other classmates.

I've been wondering too, of Curt Wilker, Pam's husband was having some difficulties, Dale Youngman,  Your wife, too Steve, how is she doing?  Having this open window to some of you is what this site should be - a large part at least.
