Was looking at some of the photos I have here in my profile/photos and notice the framed Thai wall hanging.  It's actually a pillow cover which Jane, saw on one of our many trips to Bangkok, Thailand, while posted to Dhaka, Bangladesh.  We had to escape the poverty once-in-awhile.  We did a lot of traveling, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand, Austrailia, India..

Jane liked this pillow cover and had it framed.  The lacqured screen behind me, is from Japan,  The photo was taken in January 2017, a few months before moving back to the States.

Dan, with your extensive background in international affairs I'd sincerely like your comments, similar experience and opinions on a recent post from commentator Bill O'Reilly. It really has me spooked yet fascinated. Here's a summary of a few major points...there were many minor items too but these bug me:

1- O'Reilly states that Covid 19 is actually a biological weapon being used as a retalitory move by the communist government led by Xi Jinping in answer to Trump's 50 billion trade agreement that has China's economy in its "worst free fall ever'. His words.

2- He compares Chinese government officials to thugs and Barbarians (I'm no fan of the communist government believe me!) and states that they knew Covid 19 would kill several thousands of China's own people but with 1.4 billion of them what's a couple of hundred thousand deaths anyway...

3- O'Reilly also claims that Trump's sending two battle groups of destroyers and other Navy ships to sea to fight drugs and warn rogue actors like Iran that we mean to shut them down is really a ruse and a warning to China, that we know what they're up to.

There is much more in the article, but I've always enjoyed reading about your dealings with international affairs and would like to get your take on the above...if you have time and inclination. Thanks Guy!

P.S. I'll email the entire article to you...And anyone else that wants a copy; Gary, Ferron, etc. just semd me your email address.

Just a note before addresssing your questions, Steve.

If our classmates haven't set their profile settings to receive notifications of the BLHS posts, it might be useful.  I get notifications of birthdays coming in 7-days, and on the day of their birthday, which is nice.

Doing some face time with my son, daughter-n-law and grandson in Wilmington, North Carolina --what a treat to have this technology, unheard of 20 years ago

P.S.  For some -- when you post something, you'll have an 'edit' tab at the top of the posting, and can go in to easily make corrections, then submit again.

Yes, Steve I would like to see the entire article by Bill O'Reilly.  I've generally been a fan of O'Reilly, not always agreeing with him, but find him to be on the mark generally.  What I like about him is he broaches subjects which most news commentators shy away from.  He's his own man, and tells it like he sees it.

From what you've shared here, I tend to think with  Bill's vast political connections, he may very well be privy to some sensitive intelligence, most likely inadvertendly shared, but when those who deal in the world of gathering and analysing intelligence do it 'day in and day out', it's difficult to separate what can and cannot be shared with the public, thus we get glimpses once-in-awhile of otherwise classified information.  I'll read his entire article, after getting back with you.

This is one of those things, which makes me think of Todd Maltby asking me several years ago to offer my critique on the "Winds of War", the movie/commentary of the Viet Nam War, and other insights into the Johnson administration.  My critique took about four moths before getting back to Todd.  I posted it here (long since deleted).  It was lengthy, and I'm sure it had most who read it yawning -- I'm sure most find those things boring; nevertheless, I enjoy these things.  I'll get back with you later - thanks for asking Steve.

Thanks for putting my feeble mind at rest Ferron on Miss Hendrickson and the swimsuit. What I still wonder how I my have seen her! She was my English teacher in my 11th year but I wasn't her favorite but she had such beautiful eyes. On another subject how much do you really have to stay inside? Max and I just went for a walk and met two more neighbors up the street. I guess that I should thank my lucky stars that I don't live in New York or some big city. Conspiracy theories, everybody knows that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK with a crappie Italian rifle and a moving target. Ballistics be damned. I'll shut up now but thanks Farron.

Thanks Ferron, for the nice tid-bit of information.   It makes me feel like joining you on the golf course -- super!

Here's a little something from our home on 19April2020:

Sam is my baby, only weighing in at about 142 lbs.  He's really a pussy cat, a loving dog.  His hair is normally about 3" long.  I had him groomed/hair cut, and it's growing out -- looks pretty scruffy.  I take him to PetSmart, where if you're a vet you can make an appointment on Tuesdays for  a discount - grooming -- it's a pretty good deal.

"
When Dad's not in his recliner, Sam thinks he'll be king and take over. He normally dictates everything to us anyway. Poor thing obviously needs some brushing -- another chore during this Covid-19 sequestration."  I'm getting a lot done around the house.

I’m not one to normally buy into conspiracy thinking, yet as time goes on, I’m finding more and more I think there are more adversarial groups out there trying to stick it to us, one way or the other.  I know many of our classmates will not be interested in this type of thing and that’s fine.

Before getting into what I think of this China virus thing, I’d like to diverge somewhat and explain something I’ve learned over the years, and have had some excellent explanations given by experts. Not just someone professing to be expert in a field, but who have actually done the work, learned the languages, lived in the cultures, knowing, feeling what they are talking about.

I am not one of these experts, only penning my views from years of living among many different cultures, drawing upon what I’ve learned over the years from others.

I may have alluded to some of these things in the past; however, my comments are always different; at times I tend to be peripeteia (look it up) in my writing.

Cultures around the world are unique unto themselves and few share the same ideals as the western cultures, namely, western Europe and the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia  in particular.

The Eastern European, Balkan States, moving through to Turkey, Iraq, Iran, then further east to India, Pakistan, then the south Asian countries, Thailand, Malaysia, Burma. Further north east, to China, Viet Nam, Japan, Korea and so forth.  Then switch your view to the south, northern Africa, mostly all Islamic states, east to Lebanon, Jordan and sundry of other African states.  OK, you’re beginning to see the vast differences in cultures, but what are those differences?

In the United States, England, France, Spain, as far as Italy, we generally enjoy the Judean, Christian understanding of doing good to other, respecting one another, property, general ideology of loving one another.  Central and South America share many of these ideals, yet there are many subtle differences to ours.

I could go on for a week explaining the various cultures, as I view them, but for this purpose I’m going to focus on the Oriental mind, China being the focus right now.

To us, people are people the world over.  There are some universal sameness, we all want what is best for our families, to live a comfortable life, with necessities being met.  That’s about where it ends.  To most Orientals, their belief system is conditioned on ancient philosophers like, Confucius, and Buddha.  Buddha taught that all nature should be respected, have feelings and we people are just part of nature, no different.  When we say we can’t understand how they value life so little, it’s not much different for them to expend a human life as it is to cut a rose for their need or pleasure. If their need is to propagate their ideology, not to convert us, but to satisfy their need or ultimate goal, if it requires people die, then so be it.  The emotion, sorrow, value for life just isn’t there as it is for us. The Oriental can be very devious, and subtle, achieving deeply nefarious ends.

As westerners, it’s virtually impossible for us to understand this.  All people of the world are products of their upbringing, conditioning; if we have not been raised or exposed to these other cultures, we just can’t imagine or intellectualize how and what they think.  I’ve said for many years, one major political fault in our world diplomacy is rooted in this very thing.  We send our diplomats to a few weeks or months to Area Studies and send them into the world as experts.  This is almost laughable, if it wasn’t such seriously flawed thinking.

OK, back to the Chinese virus issue.  I do believe we have some very well educated medical people who understand what is going on; such as, Dr. Rashid Buttar, he is beside himself with the fraud being perpetrated upon us over this.  A fraud which is costing lives.  There is a Youtube link
 https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DWGbYHJcMbz8%26feature%3Dshare%26fbclid%3DIwAR1ooXMv-_6tdGMCPfH6yGayPltK4wo3M9Qp68buEhrCHlrSGjEaxVgclPA&h=AT07u-5tdfEeN5xRODb7HSqqyEx1acsx0vRIXBh4ybG1zxOrOzG7ZgJT1wagyR0xlquL8uHd16-dTaFZF-GvJVlTg0DP9klc5OHD7vROxnXNlDMfMHspNhvJ90HYrWQgyfyflTcV4GRDXhe9DONqCalEETetI7osGw0

presentation which he points out as “Fake Pandemic Numbers”.  Well worth viewing.  I’m not saying this is the end all, but as I said at the onset of this, I’m beginning to think we are being hoodwinked much more than we can even imagine.  I do believe there is a Deep State, who wish to control us. It has been human nature for centuries for people in power to want control and wrest control over anyone who opposes them.  Money, is at the bottom of most of these conspiracies.  Would the Chinese purposefully expend their own people and send the virus to us, yes I think they would.  They’re angry over Trump disrupting their sweet deal of taking, taking, taking from us, giving very little to nothing in return – it’s what they are willing to do to achieve their ends.

It is not my intention to turn this into a political tirade, rather offer something for us to think about.  Is Bill Gates, involved, Doctor Fauci and the like, do they want to be part of a ruling class, controlling us, perhaps.  I’m not saying they are for sure, but I’m sure watching and looking for all of the subtle maneuvers they’re making, and there are many.

Steve, I didn’t view O’Reilly’s presentation, but know basically where he’s coming from.  I do not agree with him referring to the Chinese hierocracy as ‘thugs an Barbarians”.  They are just doing what they think is necessary to achieve their ends, based on their belief system (foreign to us), and O’Reilly’s comments compliment what I was saying about our diplomats – we really don’t know, or understand the Oriental mind/thinking.

As for sending ships in force now is a psychological signal, that we are not to be trifled with, not just for the Iranians and Chinese but for the world to see.  I think that’s a good move – as Regan said “Peace Through Strength”.

I would love to delve into some of these other cultures in more depth, but this is probably all you can endure now.  The culture of Islam is one which has dominated much of my time of late.  Having lived in the Muslim world for nine years, I do have a pretty good feel for what is going on there. Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have some ideas which, I believe help some to understand what we’re dealing with.

Excellent Dan! I have learned more about the Muslim world courtesy of a great man, (Retired Air Force Colonel ) . Your so right on the way we pick foreign diplomats, insanity rules! Your post is definitely a keeper. Regards, Gary.

Dan, your post was excellent and informative as I knew it would be! Two things, #1 I sent you a short video of an interview between Patrick Bet David of Valuetainment and Daniele Demartino Booth which I hope you've seen by now. I thought it was also excellent. Daniele, is very bright and is the Chief Strategist of Global Intelligence and presented a strong case for conspiracy. #2 I fact checked the O'Reilly article and found it wasn't written by Bill O'Reilly. Sorry. I jumped the gun. - But again, Booth's information contains strong validity.

I too studied Islam in detail Dan, and started a book called Muslims verses Mormons. I Had written 60 some odd pages with a side by side comparison of teachings on the Godhead, and Christ specifically, fasting, the hereafter and marriage etc, but the more I read the Koran and the Traveler etc. the more I realized I was treading on thin ice and would never even think of getting it published. I quit. Period.

Ferron, sorry about your many back surgeries but golf should have you pretty linbered up by nowl I also love the game. After I finally get moved in here and finish my wife's landscaping projects, I may even play again! I also love woodworking and found Hutch's article on Arlo Felix very nostalgic. He was a good guy. - Never tried scuba diveing but admire those who do it.

So Dale Youngman's a gardener huh Gary? Well, I'm putting in a garden... a small one and need a little advice. Everything I ever planted in Houston was greatly enjoyed by insects so I blew it off there. I'm hoping for better luck here in Utah's rocky soil. Rich stuff though,,,nice and black and fruit trees love it! By the way Gary, good advice, I am still working but at something I love...Writing. Beats the heck out of selling investments and insurance that's for sure.

I'm sorry Steve, I've been using my Yahoo account for so long, I don't goto my gmail much -- I did now and see where you've sent the things to me.  I'll peruse and get back with you --thanks.

With your indepth study of Islam you probably know more about it than I.

I know while posted to Ankara, Turkey we had a Minaret about a half a block from my bedroom window, when that Mullah began his call to prayer at sunrise on Saturday mornings, after a night of partying at the Marine House or Officer's Club; I longed for a rifle to shoot out the loud speakers which hung on the sides of the Minaret.

Good morning Steve, I'm not quite sure about Youngman being a gardner but I guess he could be I've been wondering how he was doing since we last spoke at our reunion at the park. I thought that you have been writing but I'm really happy for you to be able to do that now keep it up! Dan was writing what I consider a very good book but he's a busy guy and writing demands a lot of demand. Heck you should be able to grow a great garden where you are now. Be safe, don't play in the streets or run with scissors! Your friend, Gary

Dan, please email me your yahoo address. I don't have it. - When a few radical Muslims took out that Danish Cartoonist it caught my attention big time. My only intent in writing the book was to show the beauty and simplicity of the gosple, and of Christianity at large compared to Islam...but the more I studied Islam so as to write the comparison, the more I realized I might end up like the Danish cartoonist. I'm a careful guy, and don't play in the street (although it's safe in Willard Utah) or run with open sissors - Great advice Gary! LOL. - Hey you guys are a riot.

BTW, I just read your bio on the BL site Dan. Was very touched by the passing of your son. I'm sooo very sorry. Man what a blow to take! If you can please share what happened. We've all had tragedy in our lives, some we can share and others we can't but so far I've not lost a child. So sad guy. I'm very, very sorry for your loss.

Now I'm gonna' go read your Bio, Acker - hope you didn't mention dragging main looking for girls or other things we used to do or places we all used to frequent! Communicating with you guys is neat, and eye opening...I just wish we could get more 62 grads to join in the conversation. Any ideas?

Gary, I didn't know you spent time in California. What were you doing there? Lucky you got out of there without becoming a socialist. Ha, ha. Hey, It's a beautiful state or should I say country? Huge, and so diverse. San Francisco was often foggy and damp while San Diego almost tropical when I was there. BTW, More…I noticed a post from Val Lasko on your site. Big ol' handsome devil and a very dangerous man. He once told me all you had to do in a fight was watch the other guy's feet and you'd know how to hit him while also defencing yourself. A very fine person, still Val was no man to mess with; he once fought with three guys at once, and all three of them suffered!

Steve there isn't much in my bio about my activities but cruise the Blvd, hang out at combes' Arctic Circle, masons oh yeah! My dad said I must have worn out many sets of tires on Washington Blvd. The motorcycle was the most fun, good weather only, . I rock climbed in Ogden Canyon mostly got to climb with Maltby. The guy was like a spider kid you not. We also managed to snow ski a lot. The only time that I spent in California was at a beautiful spot referred to as Fort Ord don't want any California! Call me stupid but I think that you married Sue Larson am I right? How did you manage to get such a jewel! Neat Lady for sure. I to would like to hear more from our other classmates I sent Jerry Davis a message about joining us. What a pair he and Sharon are they lost a son also tough one there. Remember the scissors and I guess the Muslims also. I heard the phrase, a harsh Religion for a harsh environment! Does that make sense? Later buddy.

Do you remember when I heard the phrase "we're in the honeymoon stage of this pandemic "? Well look around boys and girls, the natives are very restless, dust in the teepee or something. Men in the depression of the 30s wanted to work but the business was dead. We have active business forced to close thus they really will die. Looking at gas prices, they've been ripping us off since 1$ a gallon. Not to worry though, Putin and Muhammad will get back together and prices will put us back. Buy oil stocks I guess. Enough! Have a good evening.
