Some of you guys have mentioned Mike Liptrot. Karen LeSieur Seeber Mentioned to me the other day that he could be at the George E. Whalen veterans care center in Harrisville. I don know any of the particulars of how he is doing, but I did verify that he was there. The only phone number that I have is 801-334-4300; the front desk receptionist could be able to transfer to his area or room.
Hey Dan, I love the jokes and have made some notes. I have an idea of something for the 80th Birthday Paarty Celebration

I tried calling Lippy, and talked with another old vet.  The receptionist said he had just gotten out of the shower; when I tried calling back about an hour later I didn't have anyone answer the phone (in his room).  The receptionist gave me a direct number to his room -- 801-612-3951.  No luck talking to him yet; perhaps  one of you guys can give it a try.

Gary, thanks so much for the update on your health...despite your problems, your attitude is great. I'm proud guy! You know positive thinking is powerful. Keep truckin' and you'll win man. - Life is full of trials, I suppose that's why we are here, and thinking about it that's saying a mouth full. We are here on this beautiful ol' earth and if we are still on the green side, well that's a big deal. - Nearly 1/3 of our 1962 classmates can't say that. -- I got up the other day and seemed to hurt  everywhere in my body, so I got in the hottest tub I could stand and stayed there until the pains subsided. --  Enough already! Gary, you're an inspiration. -- So are you Hutch. You keep us goin'. Ferron too. -- Here's a bulliten: the 80th birthday committee is meeting Wednesday August 30th at the Hug Hes Cafe on 48th near Harrison in Ogden. My phone number is 832-878-2865.  The 80th B-Day party will happen in September of 2024. ----------------------Two months later we get to kick some of our illustrious leaders in Washington, to the curb!!  ... I wanted to end on a bright note! Cheers guys!

Another great post Steve.  I too am inspired by Gary's grit and attitude.  You're the best Gary!

Steve, I'm adding your number to my contact list -- look for a call from ol' Dan one of these days (830-387-6626).

I heard a cute one at work today:  Bill and Hillary went to a baseball game; the Secret Service Officer leaned over and whispered into Bill's ear.  Bill stood up and threw Hillary over the guard rail!  The Secret Sevice Officer bent back down and said:  Mr, President "I said throw the first pitch"!

I guess our hearing diminishes for all of us - lol

Wow thanks so much guys for your encouraging words, to say overwhelmed is an understatement! I sure didn't expect a summer like this one but as I look around I'm pretty darned lucky for the health I've had but most of all the greatest friends a guy could ask for. Just tell me how to get some weight back on this frame thats left. Thanks for the information on how to get in touch with "Lippy " such a great friend. We go back to sitting on the lawn on summer nights and trying to learn how to tell jokes along with Gary Wilson, remember him? The last I heard of him was that he called me but I was at work (pre cell phone) he lived in Ontario Oregon but I've never been able to find him. Enough of my rambling but a huge thank you for such a boost to my moral. Thanks again guys be safe

Sorry about the surgery my friend but we all are hoping for a good outcome. I've been occupied by my little adventures and haven't talked with you so I plan to giving you a call. Keep the rest of our friends updated or I can pass it along. Dan is responsible for keeping the page going but I'll try and find something intelligent to contribute with my small mind. Talk soon buddy.

Yes Ferron, please keep us updated.  I get goose bumps and cringe at the news of your back problems.  There isn't much I can think of to cause us more pain and suffering than backpain.  Yours is definately something to cringe about.  May our Father-in-Heaven bless you throughout all of this, allowing you to recover, enjoying a life of good quality.

Gary, you too remain in my prayers.  I hope and pray you are doing better?

I've  tried three times to get Mike Liptrot on the phone at the VA Nursing home, but for some reason, even leaving a message for his case worker to return a call hasn't been fruitful.  If a couple of you folks could travel way out to Harrisville, perhaps we could get an udate for him.  The difficulty in getting ahold of him does not bode well.

I've been watching the Smithsonian's Channel, "Aerial America", which is extremely interesting. Learning about the various states is really spell binding.  Watching the segment on Vermont the other day made me realize how beautiful the state is, and made me think of Janet and Paula,  realizing why one would like living there.

An Aside, Gary; your contributions are always welcomed and appreciated.  Don't cut yourself short, there is nothing wrong with your brain.  Hope your health continues to improve.

One from Mario, I thought worth sharing:

"Short stories that make us think twice about the daily happenings in our lives as we deal with others!

 1.  Today, I interviewed my grandmother for part of a research paper I'm   working on for my Psychology class.  When I asked her to define success in   her own words, she said;
 "Success is when you look back at your life and the memories make you smile."

2.  Today, after my 72 hour shift at the fire station, a woman ran up to me   at the grocery Store and gave me a hug  When I tensed up, she realized I   didn't recognize her.  She let go with tears of joy in her eyes and the most sincere smile and said;
 "On 9-11-2001, you carried me out of the World Trade Center."

 3.  Today, after I watched my dog get run over by a car, I sat on the side of the road holding h im and crying.  And just before he died;
 he licked the tears off my face.

4.  Today at 7am, I woke up feeling ill, but decided I needed the money, so I went into work.At 3PM I got laid off.  On my drive home I got a flat tire.  When I went into the trunk for the spare, it was flat too.
 A man in a BMW pulled over, gave me a ride, we chatted, and then he offered me a job.  I start tomorrow.

5.  Today, as my father, three brothers, and two sisters stood around my mother's hospital bed, my mother uttered her last coherent words before she   died.
 She simply said, "I feel so loved right now.  We should have gotten together like this more often."

6.  Today, I kissed my dad on the forehead as he passed away in a small hospital bed.  About 5 seconds after he passed.
 I realized it was the first time I had given him a kiss since I was a little boy.

7.  Today, in the cutest voice, my 8-year-old daughter asked me to start recycling.  I chuckled and asked, "Why?"  She replied, "So you can help me save the planet."  I chuckled again and asked, "And why do you want to save the planet?"
 Because that's where I keep all my stuff," she said.

8.  Today, when I witnessed a 27-year-old breast cancer patient laughing hysterically at her 2-   year-old daughter's antics, I suddenly realized that,
 I need to stop complaining about my life and start celebrating it again.

9.  Today, a boy in a wheelchair saw me desperately struggling on crutches with my broken leg and offered to carry my backpack and books for me.  He helped me all the way across campus to my class and as he was leaving he   said,
 "I hope you feel better soon."

10.  Today, I was feeling down because the results of a biopsy came back malignant.  When I got home, I opened an e-mail that said, "Thinking of you today.   If you need me, I'm a phone call away."
 It was from a high school friend I hadn't seen in 10 years.

11.  Today, I was traveling in Kenya and I met a refugee from Zimbabwe  He   said he hadn't eaten anything in over 3 days and looked extremely skinny and unhealthy.  Then my friend offered him the rest of the sandwich he was eating.
 The first thing the man said was, "We can share it."

The best sermons in life are lived not preached!

I am glad I have 'you' to send these to.

These are worth passing on...hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

No matter how big a hammer you use, you can't pound common sense into stupid people.

{the above line}  "Ain't that the truth!!!"

Just what all the members want to see is more health stories.  I had a detached retina in my right eye about 8-years ago while still living in  La Paz, Bolivia.  I jumped on a plane and flew immediately to Viginia, where I had some medical contacts.  I landed and was on the operating table the next day.  The doctor is/was a Chinese American, and while he was giving me the initial exam he received about four calls from other doctors asking for his advice; I knew then I had the right guy.  He had to tack my retina in seven places, which saved my eye sight in the right eye.

I was having similar cloudy vision for the past few days, but was told today it's only an inflamation -- a huge relief for sure.

Thanks for the good wishes, and good luck to you too Ferron.  Gary I hope your procedure went well?

Glad that you're detached retna surgery went well Dan. I'm not thrilled with mine but what the heck I passed my driver's license and I even went to my eye doc for an exam and he told me I don't need a prescription and be happy with just my readers.
