El Salvador working with other Christians to construct a retreat center. Then I spent a few months hiking after doing CLEP at Gulf Coast. Florida State for two degrees in Social Work. Lived in Tallahassee for ten years doing social work with the community mental health system. Lived at the Grass Roots Land Co-Op. Rachel was born. Then we left it all and went to seminary in Atlanta. Rebecca was born the day after I graduated from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Moved to Lexington Kentucky to begin my pastoral ministry. Long story, very short.
One of them in the homecoming when we paraded around the stadium singing the John Lennon song, "all we are saying is give peace a chance." I suppose the other is visiting nursing home patients with folks in a service club; or going to the beach wild, happy and free.
Who was your favorite teacher and why was he/she your favorite?
Mrs. Cope - she engaged my mind in a wonderful way. I also loved one of my English teachers who name I can't recall but she also got me very interested in poetry, especially John Donne.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your high school aged self about life?
Talk more to the people who aren't sitting under your own tree. They may become your friends later in life and besides, they may have a perspective different from your own that is intriguing.
