School Story:

To this day, I still have wonderful memories of attending Bay High School and being a member of the Bay High School Million Dollar Band! I must say that school days affected the rest of my days! I felt I had some of the greatest teachers in the world and a lot of wonderful friends. Band trips were amazing! I can remember trips to away football games, trips to New Orleans, Mobile, Gatlinburg, Gainesville, Tallahassee (Inauguration Parade) and Tampa/St Petersburg. And it was a great feeling to graduate along with 650 of my classmates!

What did you do right after high school?

College followed by a 30+ year career in the US Air Force.

Where have you lived other than Bay County?

1. Birmingham, Alabama
2. Wichita Falls, Texas
3. Tampa, Florida
4. Fairfield, California
5. Colorado Springs, Colorado (USAF Academy)
6. Montgomery, AL
7. Colorado Springs, CO (USAF Academy)
8. Fairborn, OH
9. Homosassa, FL

Do you still have family living in Bay County?

I still have one sister living in Bay County.

How often do you get back to Bay County for a visit?

Unfortunately, not very often except for when I was living in Montgomery, Alabama (1988-1993)

Would you ever move back to Bay County?

It would have to depend on the situation.....I really love where we live and I'm happy to finally settle down in one place after moving frequently during my career in the Air Force.

Are you married? To whom? When? How long?

Yes......Carol.......42 years!! We were married on September 11th. Our 25th Anniversary was 9/11

Do you have grandkids? How many? Ages?

Seven Grandsons!!
- Ages range from 8 to 19!

Do you have any hobbies?

Golf, Camping, Travel, and most especially......Disney World!!!!!

If you travel, what is the farthest you've been from home?

I love to travel......Hawaii is the farthest I been from home (so far), or it may have been when I traveled to Alaska. I'm really not sure.

Where is your favorite place to go?

The Great Smokey Mountains, Hawaii, Marco Island, Fl; Sanibel Island, Fl; and of course, the happiest place in the World--Walt Disney World and Sea World!!

What have you wanted to do that you haven't done yet?

Go on a cruise! I must be the only American who has NOT gone on a cruise (well, at least among my circle of friends and colleagues!)

What would we be surprised to know about you?

That I served 30+ years in the US Air Force and was very fortunate to be selected for the highest enlisted Air Force rank possible--Chief Master Sergeant, which by law is limited to only 1% of the entire Air Force! Achieving Chief allowed me to have some wonderful jobs and great leadership opportunities. In my last position in the Air Force, I had over 965 enlisted men and women the I provided leadership and mentorship for....wow!

What's your favorite memory of Bay High School?

Being a part of THE Bay High School Million Dollar Band! Mr Ron Hardy!

Who was your favorite teacher and why was he/she your favorite?

Mr. Ron Hardy. He taught me the basic, but very imortant lessons of life....caring for people, self-discipline, self-motivation, self-initiative, being punctual, working hard, giving your best in evertything you do, as well as many other skills needed for a succesful life.

A few years ago, I was shocked to see Mr. Hardy while watching a TV commercial about tourism in the Florida, Alabama, and in Mississippi after the Oil Rig catastrophy in the Gulf of Mexico. He was the representative for Florida! Way to go Mr Hardy!!!

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your high school aged self about life?

Have fun, work hard, and experience life to the fullest!
