Hi Pat,
They have some wonderful bed and chair alarms, they are very flat little pads that go under the patients bottoms, and they alarm goes off and you can get to them before they fall....unless you are out in the south forty.

Gosh can you tell I work in an Assisted Living Facility now as a Marketing Director?

You can check out our place at www.beehivehomes.net
Coeur d' Alene Senior Living....it's really a beautiful place.

Love ya
Lynne

Dorothy,
I guess I better start planning our trip to see you, it's going to be here before I know it. I heard they had snow on one of the passes today, so now I am going to have to look for some snow chains for the tires on the scooter...gosh what next???? LOL
Love ya
Lynne

PS: Pat if you need any help with anything I'd be more than happy to help you find some of the stuff that might help your mom.

Well Lynne make sure that you take a big patio umbrella to cover yourself from all the rain and snow you might encounter with your journey to Wyoming. I can close my eyes and see all the funny comments regarding your road trip visualize what the scooter is going to look like.

Pat/Dorothy hang in there. We are all thinking about ya.

Lynne there is not a day that goes by that I don't feel the pain of losing my dad. It does not seem real. The good Lord has been keeping me really, really busy. Time passes so very quickly. There is one thing that I am certain of, I am so proud to have been my father's daughter and proud to say that George BuSteed was and always will be my DAD. Little teary eyed here.

Went out to the Ranch after work yesterday. Mom just got all new tile in the kitchen. It was only 3 years old. Now she is getting all new carpet, the carpet is only 3 years old. Way to go mom. The only thing is everything has to be packed up, so I took her a ton of boxes last night. Brenda and I packed things up until about 10:30 p.m.

It is count down until the wedding now May 15th. I am off to Vegas - New York, New York are you ready for all the girls on April 9th. Can't believe my daughter wants me to party with her and her friends. Should be fun. She said mom we are going to a club too. This sounds interesting? She just told me I need to take something dressy. hummm I will let you know the details, oops I forgot, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas - sorry! LOL

Just me checking in with a few words, where is everyone?

Love, Lorene

Pat Kuester (Bowen)

Lynne, Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about shackles. All she really needs to do is call me. I come immediately no matter what I'm doing. In fact this morning I dreamed she called me twice. I jumped out of bed and evidentally I was dreaming. She was sound asleep. One morning not only did I dream she called me, but my sister called me too. Now that one for sure I knew was a dream. At least I hope so.

Dorothy Smaller (Abler)

You are right Lynne, we got lots of snow yesterday. It looks like a winter wonderland again. Took Joel to Idaho Falls yesterday to his doctor. We are going to change a couple meds to help him. The one new change helped him sleep the entire night last night. First time. I asked the doctor if he had any more magic tricks up his sleeve and he said he did. Last time he got real bad the doctor gave him about 6 months before he got bad again and we are now going into the 9th month although he's going down again. Praying these new changes will help. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. IT does get pretty rough at times, that's for sure.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Pat,
Sorry deal but the shackels are considered a "restraint" by the state and you would be in big trouble if they found out. Sounds like you are on top of things, even in your dreams. However, when the day comes and you need any help please let me know. I have all the good tricks still up my sleeve.

Lorene: Why wouldn't April want you to go to Vegas and party with her, you are the "party girl" as long as no one gives you a blanket and lets you lay down on the floor, because then it's ALL OVER, right Maurene, and Mike L????? LOL

Last night was a really rough night, I all most called you at midnight I couldn't stop crying I just missed my mom so darn much, my heart felt broken in two.

As far as my scooter trip, I am going to have to really get busy on this thing. I need a few days off to get my tires and chains measured for getting over the big pass on the Montana border. I think I am also going to have to tow the generator behind me to plug in for more electric when I go over those passes.
But I know that Joel is going to love his new scooter, Dorothy won't be able to keep him home now since they live so close to town.

Everyone have a blast in Vegas for your mini reunion, I'll be thinking of you.

Love
Lynne

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Dorothy,
Glad to hear that the new meds helped with Joel's sleeping last night. We have so many residents that wander all night long, it's just so darn sad that this disease does that to them. We have a lady in one of our houses that is only 52 and she is really bad, but all she does all day long is walk around the building over and over and over. She can't speak, but every time she sees me she gives me a big smile and hug. I hug them all, you know how I am.
I have a new resident that I go see every morning, we are going to be coffee buddies. I am moving him to a new cottage tomorrow he isn't fitting in where he is. THey are more advanced in this house than he is.

You hang in there, I know you are doing a wonderful job for you hubby.

See you soon
Love ya
Lynne

Hello people. Pat, I'm so sorry about Mom being bed ridden. Is there a nurse with her through the day? Not much good news here at the Lint house. I guess the most exciting thing is that my daughter got her fourth tattoo today!! We are just sooooooo proud ! Not really ! I think it will bite her in the butt when she goes for interviews. But I don't know anything, right? Love to all, Lorene, Lynne, Pat, Marcia and Carol & Jim, prayers included....Sandi

04/02/10 09:34 PM #2999

Pat Kuester (Bowen)

Sandi, neither of my kids have tattoos, but my son-in-law more than makes up for it. Talk about being sooo proud. He is in a band, everytime I show people their website and people want to know which one is he, I have to tell them he is the one painted green. He is the only one painted green.

Mom actually isn't bed ridden (Lynne says I can't shackle her). She needs help doing everything. She needs someone with her to get in and out of bed her chair and the potty chair. I am her caregiver. She has a nurse come in once a week and a bathing nurse twice a week. My son babysits for me. She has a friend she worked with her at the VA hospital who has offered to watch her also. My son really enjoys helping her on the portable potty. LOL I told him this is practice for when he has to do it for me in 20 years.

I'll tell you one thing, her bowels are going to drive me nuts. 1st she was constipated so she over medicated herself and got diarrhea. We got that cleared up. She went one day without a bm and said she needed a laxative. I told her I wasn't riding that merry-go-round again. So I got her Activia and fed her oatmeal. Should I tell you about the hemorroids now?

Maybe I'll just leave that for another time.

Oh Sandy you are soooo funny regarding those tattoos.
The one thing kids no realize is that someday they are going to get old - ever see an older lady with tattoos like from the 60's covered all over her body, they wrinkle in time, change colors, sag with age, ya know the skin what it does. Oh my gosh I am laughing my you know what off just visualizing what women look like with tattoos as a woman in her 80's. LOL

Pardon, I am not trying to offend anyone with tattoos just thinking ahead.

My daughter got a tatoo on in the inside of her wrist. It does not look bad - but when she gets older I sometimes wonder how she will feel about it.

Sandy thank you for making me laugh. I need it sometimes.

Pat, Marcia, Dorothy how are you doing. Dorothy hang in there, you too Pat.

To my dear friend Lynne, you will see this posted on facebook but I wanted you to see it again, hopefully to brighten your day or night. Hey girl, you are always on my mind. When all of this wedding stuff is over, we will have to get together.

This is for you Lynne:

To my dear friend Lynne: The tears you shed will be fond memories, with a tear there will be a smile, with a tear there will be yearning, with a tear there will be a smile, a smile of one moment in time, one fond moment will appear before your eyes, it is then you will shed a tear, it is then you will smile.

Everyone have a blessed Easter!!!

Love to all!

Lorene

Ok Girls,
On the tatoo thing, my son the policeman got a tatoo after the shooting we were in, it was his third shooting. So, he got the "scales of justice" and then three little bullets under that. I told him since I was his back up for 2 minutes before anyone else arrived that I felt I could get a tatoo as well with one bullet. He didn't seem to like that idea at all.
Maybe on my way to Wyoming with the scooter, Martin and I will find a tatoo parlor to stop in and get warm.

Pat, as far as your mothers care as I read your stories I laugh and remember being in those same circumstances with my mom. I'm telling you I never knew how big a deal having a BM was until we starting taking care of her, then when we could no longer do it on our own even the facilities would ask every single day if the patients had had a BM. It baffled me, but I guess it's pretty darn important. They used the word did so and so get a bullett? Meaning a suppository, to funny.
Hang in there Pat, and don't forget the good ole' prunes.

Love you all
Lynne

Lorene: Thanks for the kind words once again.
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL

We went to sunrise service at the lake this morning. Family was here for a BBQ. It's a beautiful day in Lake Havasu. Happy Easter to everyone.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Marcia,
My dad will be leaving for your area next Friday, first trip ever all by himself. I am worried about him, but everyone keeps telling me to "knock it off, hes a big boy". Ya he is a big boy, with heart problems, and someone that just lost his wife of 64 years only 32 days ago....so I think I can worry a little bit.
Anyway, he plans to be at the river on the 17th for the boat races, he will be hanging out with my brother and my cousins. It will be good for him to get away.
Hope the weather will be good for him.

04/05/10 07:45 PM #3006

Marcia Kraft (Barringer)

Lynne--- I totally understand what you're saying. My father-in-law is 88 and in excellent health but when he wants to take a road trip I "encourage" my husband to go with him. Just don't want Poppy going alone. But, I'm sure your Dad will do fine. Too bad you're working. Maybe next time you can go with him and we'll come down to Parker and have dinner together.

Great news from the Barringers... Damon and Karen found out today that we're having a GIRL... We are so excited!!!!!

Thank you again Marianna,

I got a card today it's all ready to mail off.
Today I finished reading the last Sympathy card from my moms. It's so hard to read those, and my dad had left them in a sealed box he just couldn't do it. So, I just added the names to the guest book from her service, and that way he won't have to read each one when he returns home.

God bless you Carol, I know your entire world is turned upside down right now. We are all thinking of you and love you.

Lynne
