Carol it sounds good to me, I know that I will be there. Was supposed to be at a concert tonight, paid for the tickets and I am babysitting. hummm

Carol I like your idea regarding the Steve Miller concert at Fender. Anyone else want to attend? Tickets can be purchased on line at the Fender Center.

Any other interests?

Lorene

Hi Lorene,

Boy I would love to attend the Steve Miller concert, if nothing else just to see you and my buddy Roland.  I hope things go well at the doctor today.

I think Carol's idea of all of the So. CA classmates joining in would really be a hoot for all of you. I know if I still lived down south I'd be going to see all of you.

Seems our summers here are filled with family coming up to visit from CA most of the summer.  We had 44 people at the lake house for our 4th of July, wish some of you would have been there.

Spent the last few days with the grandsons at the lake having good times in the water, skiing, tubing, wake boarding and all that fun stuff.

Life goes on, and we constantly are learning how to survive without our loved ones.  I think of many of you often and hope that you are learning to cope as well, it's not easy by any means.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful fun filled summer.

Love to all,
Lynne

How is everyone's summer going so far?  What wonderful weather we've had.  Just a couple of hot weeks in June.

Since I don't have enough stress in my life, I decided to remodel Mom's (well mine now) house.  I contemplated putting in HVAC, I got such a good deal I decided to do it.  Then had to remove all of the furniture in the house so I could have the floors re-done.  We had carpeting over hardwood floors.  So all the carpet had to be pulled up.  Then had all the rooms except the bathroom painted.  I have been staying with a friend.  Well we started out as friends.

I went to check on the house yesterday, and it looks as if the painter is almost done.  Whooppee.  Oh wait, why am I happy?  Now I have to put everything back.  Packing up the house was incredible.  Besides all of my stuff to pack up, we had Mom's as well.  There are 3 bedrooms.  All of the bedrooms have closets with cupboards above.  Every cupboard was full of stuff.  She had a large linen closet in the hall with 6 large drawers below totally filled.  She had 3 hutches, 1 very large curio cabinet and 1 small curio cabinet crammed with stuff.  Sounds like a lot?  Well the attic was also filled with boxes of heirlooms (I think that's French for "estate sale crap").  The HVAC installer couldn't even work up there.  We had to take most of the boxes down.  He told me to leave the rest up there.  But I'm going to have to face it some day & go up there and remove the rest.

I think when the painting is done I am going to have an Open House.  It'll be the house is open and empty so help me fill it.

This past weekend we had a baby shower for daughter-in-law Karen.  Baby Addison Rae (Our 1st grandchild) is due in FOUR weeks and is going to be the best dressed baby in Las Vegas based on all the outfits she got.   We are so excited.   Pat B. came to Havasu despite it being a very HOT weekend.  Thank you, Pat.  What fun we had talking, laughing, etc.   The boys had a "man shower" for daddy Damon.   Big BBQ at our house Saturday night.  What a great weekend!

Saw this and thought I would share it with all of the special people in my life.
Keeper

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused.. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress; lawn mower in his hand, and dish-towel in hers.. It was the time for fixing things. A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.

But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away ...never to return. So ..While we have it ...its best we love it ... And care for it .... And fix it when it's broken ... And heal it when it's sick.

This is true ...For marriage ... And old cars ... And children with bad report cards ... Dogs and cats with bad hips ... And aging parents ... And grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep. Like a best friend who moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some t hings that make life important, like people we know who are special ... And so, we keep them close in heart and mind and spirit.

I received this from someone who thinks I am a 'keeper', so I've sent it to the people I think of in the same way.

Good friends are like stars ... you don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

May the stars always be shinning on YOU!

Love - Lorene

Hi Classmates,

Seems like ages since I have checked out our PHS site, that face book will do it to you every time.  I have found that I spend way to much time on Face book.

I hope everyone is well and has been having a great summer, I hear from my brother it's been very hot in So. CA. as well as at the River.

We've have a short summer, way to short for me.  We had a big 4th of July bash at the Lake House over 40 people but boy did we have a good time.  I am getting in some practice for a PHS mini reunion in Idaho.  :-)   Really how many of you think you would come to Idaho for a mini reunion in the summer?

Husband has been working out of town again, I hate it but glad he has such a good job. Any job these days is good to have.

My dad is doing better, it's been 6 months since we lost my precious mom. They say time heals, but I think we still need more time.

Hope you are all doing well.

Love to you all,

Lynne

Lynn my heart goes out to you....know how you feel.....thank God for your Martin and your family.....

Dear Sweet Carol,

I think of you so often you have no idea, I know that this has got to be one of the worst things that could happen to any of us.  I do know that you and Jim were best friends, and I think of that every time I think of my mom.  I still go to the cemetary just about every day, and I have that printed on her head stone, I miss all of those special times.
I think the only thing that will ever get us thru these times is just knowing that they are both in a much better place, up in Heaven in the arms of Jesus and best of all no more pain for either one of them No more confusion for my mom and what better could we ask for. In that one respect we are very blessed.
Please know that you are in my thoughts all of the time, and my heart breaks for you as well.

Love and big hugs to you.

I was going through my mom's papers today and found this note written on onion skin paper:

My Christmas Wants

My Christmas will be happy with a few little gifts, but most of all I want my dear Uncle Sam who is my Santa Claus, an "Oh how pretty!" from mother, and when I say "Dad, do you like your gift?", the little "Uh huh."  But most of all, a little remembrance of the holy child.  These are my little wants, they are small in size but large in my heart.

Patricia Kuester

Where the Hell did that person disappear to?  She must have just read Little Women.

By the way, I knew this girl very well, and she would have been very disappointed with just a few little gifts.  Who is she trying to kid?

Awwwwwww, Pat!  I love it.   I still think that little girl is inside somewhere!!!  (I'll bet Uncle Sam was the perfect Santa.)

Ok Girls,

It's funny how we find things after we lose our loved ones.  I found a little tiny sticky note in my moms wallet, on it was written in her handwriting.........

FRIENDSHIP PRAYER

MAY THE FLEES OF A 1000 CAMELS INFEST THE CROTCH OF THE PERSON WHO SCREWED UP YOUR DAY AND MAY THEIR ARMS BE TO SHORT TO SCRATCH THEM.
