Ok classmates, more of you need to be on facebook.

I am on the Board of Directors for the Fender Center/Museum in Corona. They gave me tickets to give away for will call pickup for tomorrow nights Steve Miller concert.

As I saw classmates on facebook I would ask them if they would like FREE tickets to the Steve Miller concert. To those of you who got tickets, your name will be at will call for you to pick them up. Have fun!

Also, on another note. Fender Musical Instruments just opened up a visitor center right next to the Fender factory on Railroad in Corona. You would be amazed at all the guitars etc. in there. You can purchase shirts and all kinds of stuff. The best thing is you can also purchase a new guitar with everything you like, the way you like. Pretty interesting. They had their grand opening on Wednesday night with a performance from Steve Miller and others. Lots of names came into the visitor center to check it out.

Have a great weekend!

Love Lorene

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Manny Rodriguez passed away on September 10 from a heart attack while vacationing in Palm Springs with his wife, Avis.

You were a great friend Manny. Your life was cut short.  I will miss you.

James 4:14New King James Version (NKJV)

14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

  HERE'S THE NEWSPAPER OBITURAY

Manuel 'Manny' Rodriguez of Langhorne, formerly of New York, passed away peacefully on Sept. 10 with his wife at his side. He was 61.

He was currently employed at Magellan Health Services in Philadelphia.

Manny was a member of Temple Shalom in Levittown where he served as a former Vice President.

He was an avid reader; enjoyed working on his computer and photography was his greatest passion.

He was a devoted husband to Avis and they recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ian (Sharon), and his grandchildren, Gavin and Zayda, with whom he enjoyed spending as much time as possible, and his late daughter, Jami Rodriguez.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Martin J. Burns Funeral Home, 1514 Woodbourne Road, Levittown.

Sad news.  Manny was one of my first friends at Paramount.  I remember him riding his moped to and from school.  It was kinda funny but having his own transportation was kinda cool.  I spent lots of time at his place playing chess and hanging out.  I rode with him and his dad when they went downtown LA to buy a new car.  Memory says it was an AMC Hornet but that may be wrong tho it is possible (they came out in the '70 model year.  I can't remember if Manny went to Compton with us but that would fit.  Had some contact with him around the time of the 30th reunion.  It was good to hear from him then, and I'm glad to have called him friend.

I kept in contact with Manny pretty regularly since I located him prior to our 40th reunion.  He was a a very talented writer and photgrapher and he had a great sense of humor.  I will miss my conversations with him.  I am honored to have called him my friend.

Pat ---

I can't believe you are choosing Vienna over Homecoming!!!  Such a horrible problem to have.

P.S.  Sorry you had to mop your floor since I wasn't home to talk last weekend.  You should have talked to Denny.

Thanks Peggy, I think I got one of his photos posted. I didn't get very many good shots of him, I was to busy holding him.  He is really a cute little baby.

Hope you are doing well. I miss our PHS site being as active as it was before our reunion. Seems like everyone has gone to FB, but it's not nearly as much fun as we had here.  I miss everyone, hope they get back on here soon.

Take care and thanks for sharing with me.

Lynne

Hi Lynne,

If I was in your place, I would have spent all my time holding him too.  He is just adorable.  All is well here I picked Jake up yesterday (Tuesday) in Portland anddid a turn around flight.  Spending all day flying from Vegas to Portland then turning around and coming back is prtty tiring, especially with only 3 hours sleep.  He is here now and what a treat.  Spent the day registering for school, clothes shopping, learning materials for math & writing, he won't start school until next week.  Still more stuff to get done too.

Take care and hope all is well with you and the family.

Peggy

Peggy,

So happy to hear you have Jake with you, what grade is he going into this year?  I don't know how you did that power trip, but job well done my friend.

Thanks for sharing the photos of my new great with me.

Just had a nice long chat with Dottie Abler, she has had a couple of rough days.  It's got to be a very rough time, but I told her I was really proud to see her getting out and being involved with her church and she even joined a church group of ladies tonight.  Keeping busy really helps.

Sounds like you are going to be a busy gal with all that home work. :-)

Take care good to hear from you.

Love,
Lynne

Thank you Lynne,

This is a new journey for us to start over again, but you just do what you gotta do.  The trip was a whirlwind to say the least.  Jake is in 3rd grade.  It is wonderful to hear him say everyday I love you grandma & grandpa.  A new journey for him here in Nevada.

Good to hear Dottie is getting out, that is so helpful and joining the ladies group will certainly be a wonderful connection for her.

Take care,

Peggy

Peggy -

So glad to hear little Jake is finally at his new home in Nevada.  I know how excited you and Stu must be to have a little one in the house again.  What fun you'll have at Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and all those school carnivals - I can still remember hosting the cake walk and so many other game booths at my children's school carnival throughout the years - wonderful memories!

Take care, and happy days with your little one :-).

Homecoming 2011:

We were among the lucky few invited to the dedication of the New Fieldhouse, or more specifically the Bob Witham Wrestling Room, a state of the art facility housing not only the wrestling room but home and away locker rooms, band room, weight room, training room, and conference rooms. The west wall of the wrestling room opens on to a large patio like area.   The event saw the return of many of Coach Witham's wrestlers, including '68's own Larrry Roudebush and one of MIrtha's brothers.  Also in attendance was coach's son Mike who spoke of his father's dedication to Paramount.

We remained in the field house area and watched the game from the east end zone.  On the opening series it looked like the games we'd been to before.  Garh marched down in about 5 plays and scored but missed the extra point.   The pirates drove all the way to the 1 yard line but couldn't punch through for the score.  Hopes were not so high at that point.  But, though Gahr was able to gat a first down they could not sustain another attack and when the ball was snapped over the head of of the punter we were on the board with a safety.  Again the Pirates moved well down the field but lost the ball deep in enemy territory.  THEN...Paramount intercepted the ball and a quick play or 2 later scored.  By halftime it was 16-6.

After a halftime that featured the presentation of the homecoming court, in horse drawn carriages, and modest but nice fireworks display, we retired to Casa Gamino for some beverage, food, and good company.

Final score Paramount 23 - Gahr 9 (the following link provides some info on the game)

Hi Billie,

Yes, it will be fun having a little one in the house again.  Yesterday Jake started on a bowling league and had a blast and talked about it all day long it was so cute.  He's like the energizer bunny on max speed.  He's gong to be Mario for Halloween and every night puts on his Mario hat to say good night what a little character.  We love it.  Will call and fill you in on some details.

Peggy

Love to all,

Lynne
