Mike Lampman

That's good to know the party is a go. It just appeared to

me that the SD reunion didn't have enough people paid

to make it work. Glad to know that this one isn't depending

on something like that. I'll be sure to let you know if I can attend.

Thanks

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

We needed to garentee a certain amount in order for the hotel to let us have the event  and this applies to all events even in Las Vegas.... they have to have a certain amount or someone will have to pay the difference up to the reserved amount.....wasn't that we didn't have enough paid we didn't have the numbers required in San Diego and none of the committee wanted to pay the extra amount it would have cost us to cancel.....not sure what has been said here...just setting the record straight....Hope all is well with the planned Vegas Party.....numbers count not money until the numbers don't come in.....then the money counts...soooo with those who said they are going to Vegas....and have not paid yet....please get your money in ASAP.....

I think that in 5 years we should try for a moderately priced dinner with no frills.  I think cost & transportation will be an issue.

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Dinner would be nice in 5 years. For instance Orange Hill restuarant has a nice group dinning with a view or Orange County. Or maybe at a big park like Yorba Linda Regional Park where everyone can bring families if they so choose.

Just shooting out ideas.

See you all in Vegas.

I was just thinking that the dance floor gets pretty full with all of those walkers & canes.

Before saying anything else, if I resond in opposition to ANY ideas along the way....

NO MATTER WHERE

NO MATTER WHAT

NO MATTER WHO

WE WILL BE THERE!

TO ME we can gather anytime for a modest dinner.  The 50th should be a CELEBRATION!  But I will support THE  CLASS'S decision.

The challenge I issue is that everyone who is physically and financially able to make it should pledge to do so now so we don't have to scramble again in 5 years.   We know it's coming.  Let's mark the year and be there.

(to be read with a big ole Pirate smile!)

08/11/13 04:08 PM #3572

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

Don,

I totally agree.  Who knows where we will be in 5 years.  Celebrate often and don't miss out.or be the one who said if I only had talked or seen that person.  Life is too short to miss the opportunity.  The 50th should start to be thought of now.  Hope everyone who said they were coming lets us know as soon as possible.  You can always call me.

Let's go Pirates

Everyone knew there was going to be a 45th reunon 5 years from the survey. Don so making plans for the 50th as a revelation and heads up makes me wonder who was not paying attention.....we even sent out a result of the survey 5 years ago.....so  with that being said...those who want to attend will and those who chose not to will not....having formal gathers along the way I feel takes away from the excitment of a reunion every 10 years.....not saying to never get together but to plan an offical reunion or gathering just a thought. We would have never started planning a 45th reunion more than a year ago  if we had know there really wasn't an interest doing so....I agree the 50th should be a celebration.....

08/12/13 09:02 AM #3574

Don Deyne

You're right, Carol.  And I've made your initial point a time or two, tho in my mind the planning technically started 5 years ago.  Hence my challenge for people to pledge to attend.  Seeems to me we had more than enought say then that they wanted a reunion every 5 years?  And I've never understood where they went when the San Diego plans were formalized.  It's been on my mind that once we close registration on Vegas to begin a conversation about what people want for the 50th reunion.  I'm hoping we get input from those we seldom if ever hear from.

08/12/13 04:03 PM #3575

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Don,

To do a survey again it should be a mailing ....as you can see there are only a handful of classmates who do facebook or email.....and this could be the reason for low attendance interest because we are dealing with a very small percentage of our classmates, although letters were mailed to every classmate who doesn't have email and very little responce....strange...not sure what to do except maybe charter a few buses and go pick them up.....hope all is doing good with the Vegas plans.....it has to be a "go" for deposit reasons if nothing else......

08/12/13 04:06 PM #3576

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

You know I agree with the 50th reunion and if I am around I plan on attending however everyones lives change for one reason or another and that is just life and to some who reallly never kept contact with classmates probably want to spend time and money with the ones they truely want to spend time with...just saying.....

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

It's so good to see so much positive feed back and excitement for your next Vegas party. I am sorry I will miss seeing so many of you dear friends. My husband and I have sold our home, and plan on starting our new little chapter in our lives. We have been married 44 years, raised three great sons, and have been blessed with amazing grandchildren, our oldest Paige starting college in Bellingham, WA at Western Washington University this year. Wow time flies by so fast.....

Now it's time for us to follow our dream of traveling the states in our RV.  We will always be here in Idaho for summers because there is just no place like the lake house. I am not sure how well this Nanny is going to do being away from all the Grandkids but we will just take it day at a time. We plan to be home for holidays for sure, I really doubt I will last more than a month away at a time, but who knows. We hope to head towards Vermont in the middle of October. It will depend on when my dad leaves to go back South to Parker, AZ with my brother.

I hope you all have a wonderful time, I will be thinking of you and waiting to see all your fun photos.

Lynne.

Went camping in the motorhome at Bolsa Chica State Beach again over the weekend. I was able to acquire camping spots at the last moment.  It was so much fun! We will be there again over the Veterans Day weekend if anyone wants to stop by for a visit, the more the merrier! That place brings back so many memories of yesterdays! I was really suprised that King Neptunes was still open, although we did not go there this time. I remember Noel's across from Sam's Seafood. Oh it was the best, besides Mexico City which I loved equally as much!

Love,

Lorene

the pictures I took Friday and Saturday are edited (some cropping, color/contrast/and lighting fixes) (dark lounges and yellow rooms are not conducive to photography)  ) and posted to my profile and to my Google+ photo page https://plus.google.com/photos/107921499633385745614/albums

Aloha to one and all. It's been a while since I checked in. But I just got back from a trip abroad

to Scotland, UK/London and Paris for three weeks. Needless to say I'm pretty whipped and

stilling getting caught up. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to stop in to the LV reunion,

I'll be passing this time. I just can't pull it off. I hope this finds everyone well. I'll try to keep in

touch better. Aloha
