Thank you Phyllis and Phillp for your work on the memory page.  I viewed and am amazed at how many of our classmates have passed away.   I'm looking forward to seeing some of you in the not to distant future.  Get your check-ups, eat well, exercise, laugh lots, and cross your fingers.

I just received a message that it will be Jose Salazar's bithday, don't know who's in charge but he was killed about 3yrs ago riding a horse. So we may want to update his profile who ever is in charge of that. He was a really sweet guy.

The Old Lahaina Luau is the Best on Maui.  Have to go to a Luau when in Hawaii at least once.

Aloha, if you are still on Maui and are looking for a couple of great restaurants, try Gerard's in Lahaina and Merriman's in Kapalua. Merriman's has the best food and ocean views of any restaurant on Maui. Enjoy and aloha

Mike & Carol,

We had a beautiful time in Maui. I loved ever aspect of it and would like to go back again. The hotel we stayed at was amazing. I loved the sunsets and the warm ocean breeze. I will post some pictures tonight. Thanks for the info on the restuarants.

Take care one and all,

Lorene

I'm glad your trip to Maui went so well. It sounded like the trade winds were making things comfortable. Maui welcomes you back any time. Aloha

We had a new classmate join our site.  Welcome to Mark Cutler.

Thank you Phyllis, so kind of you.  And I joined only a mere 47 years after graduation!  I finally broke down because I wanted to see some of those beautiful faces (like yours too) again, and there was simply no other way.  Funny to remember faces more than personalities, but thats just me.  'Wish I could do all of that over!

I did have a hard time getting to know people very well which I tried to explain in my comments.  Apologies in advance to all the vets who went to Viet Nam and followed the politically correct, or alleged patriotic path of the time.

I was only trying to explain in my comments that the politically correct way seemed pretty weak after Pres Kennedy was murdered, which apparently had something to do with us getting drafted, or joining the military against our wills.  All I wanted was a decent job or perhaps a further education, but not a horrific war after high school.  And I didnt ever dream of working for the Air Force.

All the Best, Mark.

Hey Mark!

Glad to see that you posted a message.  I wondered what became of you.  Hope all is well.  We have two facebook sites;  PHS class of 68      and   Paramount High School Class of 68 & Others.  There are a couple of other Paramount High School sites.   Look it up.  You'll see some familiar faces.

Your old classmate,

Mark

Has anyone noticed that the Classmates site doesn't have our yearbook pictures easily accesible on it?  I see the class of '66 and '67 but not '68.  Does anyone have a idea why this is?

Glen,

No I did not see that. Have no idea. I know that if I am on my phone, I can't post pictures.

I was one of the first members to classmates.com. over the years they started charging to reply to comments. I dropped the membership.we can post all you want but unless you pay for membership no one will ever see what was posted on there. I guess why our Yearbook is not viewed because someone who is a member probably has to post it.

Hi Lorene, thank you!  Nice to hear from you!  You Rock.

Hi Mark O-ld friend.  I have thought about you too.  Didnt we go all the way back to Collins?  We are talking around 60 years here, by now.  I see you are doing well, thats great!  In a nutshell, I came to the big island back in 1990, worked 20 years for the County of Hawaii, and finally remarried after a really long time.  I cant do Facebook, but I do scour the net plenty for morsels of truth.  Retirement feels like being a freed slave, which is like almost too good to be true.  I sure hope it lasts!  Positive thoughts, positive thoughts!  You do those, right?

Hi Glenn, thanks for your concern about the pictures.  Here is what I know: a few years ago you could pull up a picture from (1968) PHS with just a name & net search.  That appears to have stopped.  I notice when I just signed up there was an option to release personal info to the net.  It seems probable that the two are related, ie no permissions, no photos & data.  I wonder if different program updates or revisions could explain the difference between 66, 67 & 68.  And no, no photos onsite available unless you sign up (with Linux Mint & Chromium browsers anyway -admittedly not a typical op-sys).  Database programming can get tricky, but Class Creator should know precisely what is going on.  Perhaps it would be nice if they posted that photos are available to members, but I dont remember seeing it, so it just could be there!

Take care & have fun all, the best to you, Mark

Classmates and class creators are 2 different websites. One has nothing to do with the other. Class creator is hands down better than classmates.

There is going to be a big Barrio Reunion this Saturday at Paramount Park for any of you who lived on The Other Side of The Tracks :) It is really open to anyone wanting to go. We went a few years ago Cessy, Mirtha, Ofelia, Patsy,Sarah, Manny, Ernie , myself and several others from different grades. It was kinda nice seeing the old timers like my mom and her friends meet after so many years. I think now though we are getting to be the old timers . I'm hoping to stop by for an hour or so if anyone would like to come see you there.

take care everyone

Linda

Linda,

I would have loved to attend the event to see all of you. Tell everyone hello. I committed myself to going to Disneyland for the day and evening with my kids and grandkids. Darn, it would have been nice. Especially I have not been in the Paramount area in years. It would have been nice to drive by the house that we lived in. Actually both of the houses in Paramount.

Let me know if there is going to be another one.

Love to all,

Lorene

Jeri Fish (Penley)

Hello everyone, Jeri Fish Penley here. Blessings to all. Linda, I'm totally bummed to just now hear about the sat gathering. Please keep me in loop as I would have been there but going to a good Pastor friend funeral up in the mountains today. I'm in touch with David Barker trying to talk him into hosting a small gathering at his home as I hear he meets with sever of his classmates once in a while. We should do a mixer with other classes.

Im still working in Century City & still live in Sylmar, not much has changed in 30 years here now. I hope all is good.  I will do my best to get on the message forum more often. JFP 😎
