Mike Lampman

I'm back....and look what I have missed. Becky Morrison
has posted a few messages...welcome back Becky. I'm sure
all of us would like to see how you are doing. Better yet, your presence at one of the reunions would have been much better. I have also noticed that there is some talk about rafting down the salmon river. I have done the middle fork of the salmon river from the town of salmon to mackey bar. Flew out of mackey bar on this small single engine that landed in the pasture to pick up passengers. It was quite the takeoff coming out of this narrow valley. Then landing in McCall Idaho. I might even have some material on the rafting trip should anyone be interested. Ok then, take care everyone. Mike

Hello Mike Lampman, Welcome back! Where did you go?
I am curious about the financial crisis and what impact it has on Hawaii, if any? How about your business? How are you surviving?
I wonder how the humidity is on your aches and pains from years of hockey?
Keep smiling friend,
Ray Olsen

Hi All:

Just had a brief conversation with Lynne – things aren’t going so well with her Mom so they are going to cut their vacation short and head back to Idaho in a couple of days.

That being the case, Tom’s Farms on the 22nd is up in the air for Lynne at the moment.

Also, her internet connection has been iffy on the trip which has limited her access to emails - in case you were wondering why she has not been contributing (or may not have responded in her usual timely manner).

Molly

Hi everyone,

Since we already have set this date to go to Tom's Farms, shall we still go? I am game. Since I didn't get to go to the Mini reunion I was looking forward to visiting with everyone. What are your thoughts?

Carol

Sounds good to me. Are Jim and Nick coming? Any of the other guys?

Hi you all, Tom's Farms is one of my favorite places to go, alas, I will not make it. My mother in law lives up the street West from Tom's Farms and when we go down there we always stop in at Tom's Farm.

Enjoy people and think of me.

Missing you all,
Ray Olsen

Hello fellow Pirates,

It's been awhile, but I wanted to share some thoughts and photos of the PHS grand opening of their new stadium on October 17th. Linda Hernandez, Gloria Dena, Donna Boudreau, Cecilia Hernandez, Janice Brown and I got together for this event, and it was awesome.

First off, Linda is a member of the Paramount School Board and was able to have us attend a pre-game mixer (free t-shirts, "Pirate" water, and some scrumptious appetizers). We also had VIP parking and VIP seating. The school looked wonderful...some things looked the same, others totally different. We had a great time!

I know for some the thought of going back to Paramount seems frightening. I was pleasantly surprised at the crowd. They were well behaved teenagers (just like you and I in '68), enjoying their new stadium. I hear that some of you will be atetnding the Homecoming Game tonight. I think you will see that really not much has changed....I saw alot of us in the current PHS students.

So check out the photos on my profile and enjoy!!

Patsy

Patsy, thank you for sharing the great pictures of Paramount High. Love the new look.

Lynne, where are you my friend? Left a message on your cell phone. I had to clear my phone up with all the messages, did not realize that it was full. I had a lot of calls while I was in Carmel. That's what I get for being so darn busy.

I am in for Tom's Farm. Is this still on? Don Hodges mentioned that he and Roma might be interested, he was going to email Kathy Davies too. If this is a go, what time should we meet?

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Hello Everyone,
I am sitting out in the middle of a street in Yuma, AZ on a motorized mule. I haven't had interenet service in days, and more than likely won't have any until I get back home next week.

Our trip is being cut short, due to my mother's health. She is doing OK with the Alzhiemers but her good knee went out and getting her up and down the steps of the RV is more than she can bear. So, we will head for Parker today to see my brother and ride the quads for a day, then head North back home.

Thank you all for the phone calls and emails, I appreciate your thoughts and love more than you know.
I am SO going to miss seeing you all again at Tom's Farms.

Lorene my dear sweet friend, I will try to call you when I have some alone time, which doesn't happen very often at all. I miss you so much.

Molly, I will call you when I get home as well.

Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families, and please remember to love each and everyone of them as you may only have them for a short time.

God Bless
Love,
Lynne

THE GAME WASN'T MUCH BUT A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL....

Around 11 of our classmates made it to the game last night. Linda H and her crew form the stadium opening joined Mirtha, her friend Lonnie, Pat K, Geneva, and me for a beautifal evening at the new stadium. Everything about the field is top notch, except the PA system. Not loud enough and could understand only a few words from each announcement. While the overall Pirate record improved this year, the still faired poorly once conference play began, and, unfortunately, the Homecoming game was no exception. Lynwood took a 14 point lead into the 2nd quarter. A Paramount player suffered a BROKEN ankle and the delay went on quite awhile so the first half took an hour and a half. During the delay Linda and I walked down to the field. It looked pretty state of the art to me. Artifical turf marked for football and soccer. The hard rubberized track even had jump pits built in with lock down covers. And the cleanest restrooms in football. Of course they're only a month old. The half time festivities saw the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King revealed by a Batman/Joker skit that probably sounded like a good idea when they first hatched it. With the delay, half the group had their fun meter pegged and, with the score 30something to 14, was off to Super Mex in Lakewood. Being the driver for the second half of the group I exercised veto power and we stayed for much of the third quarter. The Pirates started moving the ball well but an interception and a quick touchdown by Lynwood, was our cue to make out get away. All in all the Pirates are a pretty small team with only 2 or 3 quality players. The place kicker for Lynwood was very impressive. Every kick straight as an arrow. One kick off, following a Pirate penalty, was spotted on the Pirate 45, and the kick split the uprights (55 yards away) with room to spare. This kids going to college for sure. So the rest of us joined the others for food and libation in Lakewood angering the waitresses who were almost done for the night. Oh well that's what happens on a Friday. All in all it was a pleasant experience and the small fracas in the stands and eventual ejection of one offender in hand cuffs did little to mar a pleasant evening. (when the incident broke out, Paramount staff was on hand immediately, quickly replaced by a number of Sheriff deputies. We never felt in danger and look forward to next years Homecoming.) The final score was 45-21 Lynwood, so I think Lynwood shut it down in the 4th and Paramount scored once after we left.

RE: Fires Corona/Yorba Linda:

Geneva be safe and hope that all works well for Joyce too. We've had a lot of calls today, with the news mentioning the Corona fire. The 91 Freeway has been closed for most of the day. I live about 5/7 miles from the fires. The only thing that scares me are the embers, should the direction of the wind change to east instead of the direction it's going. We have a shake roof. There have been many fires through the years, there were times that our cars were just covered with ashes, we are not seeing that because of the direction of the wind.

Jerri, how are you doing? Is the fire in Slymar close to you?

To all classmates in close proximity of all the fires, please be safe and careful.

I just talked to Lynne, she is in Parker Arizona at this moment. Wow she and her dad have their hands full at this moment. Remember to count our blessings and say a prayer for Lynne and her dad as they proceed with their journey to Oregon and then home. One thing for sure, Lynne's dad knows that this is his last trip with his wife - so sad. When you look back at a couple who has been married for years and you look at your wife/husband and they are there, but in reality they are not there but in and out. So so sad. Bless you Lynne, your dad and your mom. Have a safe journey home. Lynne look at it this way, you are there for both of your parents for their last journey/trip together. They would not have been able to do this without all your love and support.

Be safe everyone,

Lorene

Peggy,

Thanks for making and sending copies of my picture in yearbooks grade 7-12. It's a hoot to look back at school pictures and remember how we dressed and wore our hair!

Marianna, what's this about recognition in Who's Who publication? You didn't mention anything about it during our telephone conversation last week. Don't be shy, it's okay to toot your own horn, tell us all about it.

Peggy, it was good to talk with you the other day, and yes, Bob and I are looking forward to our trip in a few months. You and Marianna have certainly put a great deal of thought into planning our activities, a day at the spa for some serious pampering and girl talk sounds wonderful to me!
