I had Mr. Regner ( where is my yearbook when I need it? You know, the coach guy.) I had him for Physiology. I remember he and his wife had a baby while I had his class. Me, (trying to be cute and smart at the same time, not a good combination in my case) asked him when he came back, if the babies eyes were open yet. First he kinda looked at me with surprise and then said," It's a baby, Sandi, not a puppy." Color me embarrassed, to say the least! I really didn't know, I had not been around any babies at all. I still call Chris (my first born) my science project. Thank God, Don had been around his nephew and nieces alot when they were babies. Anyway......!

Billie.
The one who idolized Elizabeth Taylor was Mr. Hay. I had him for accounting. I don't know if he taught anything else. Elizabeth Taylor was all he could ever talk about.

Mark,

Just as an FYI, I found Mark Manus when I was searching for classmates and invited him to our reunion. I had found Wayne Gallup and asked him if he came to the reunion, who was the one best friend he would want to see. He said that his best friend had been Mark Manus, but that he had moved away and he had no idea where he was. Well, I started searching for Mark and found him. I was able to put he and Wayne back in touch with each other. As a matter of fact I was able to do that with a few of our classmates. It made all the time and effort worth it, even if some of them were not able to make the reunion.

Phyllis, Phyllis there you are boy have we missed you on the forum. I just sent you a big long email and then came to the PHS site and there you were.

That is such a great story about Mark, I wondered if you ever would realize just how special you were by creating this site for us. Just look at how you have given all of us a great communication tool after 40 years.

You have helped me in a very difficult situation, I have been blessed by receiving a wonderful email from Gene Muren who has been able to give me a vast amount of information and help with what I am dealing with with my Mom. What a blessing! Thank you Phyllis.

Hi Lynne, my sweet friend, I am sorry to hear about your mother, hang in there. My mother in law has it, it is so very hard, she has lasted for 10 years with it but is now getting closer to the end, it is hard to find a good place for them, you need to be their voice, to make sure they are taken care of, my mother in law just broke her bone above her knee, and of course Somona Creek doesn't know how it happened. That is a major bone in the leg, my heart went out to her the other day, she held on to my hand so tight, she didn't want me to leave, I told her I wasn't leaving and got in her bed and laid next to her and rubbed her hair, she held on to my hand. I stayed with her for over three hours, until I knew she was asleep. I too have been pretty busy taking care of my parents, I was down in southern Ca. for three weeks and then went back and stayed another week. Lorene and I were blessed with wonderful parents and I thank God for for all the wonderful memories our parents gave us.
Hang in their Lynn, I have something I am mailing you, I didn't get to open the gift you sent to Lorene's, she forgot where she put it, but now found it. When I go back down I will open it, thank you. I am so sorry I haven't had time to do much but take care of my parents and my mother in law. Took my husband to the doctors today he has to have two hearing aids, I told him, there not all that bad and he will hear much better, Lynne take care and I love you my sweet friend.

OK Classmates;
Here we are another class reunion in Las Vegas. I am so happy that it's going to be in June, because there is no way I would be getting on a airplane now. There's just something about looking out over that wing, and watching the crews down there spray de-icer on the wings that makes me a little nervous.
Now as you all know I'm quite the flier now, thanks to many of you and all the great encouragement you gave me to get to Las Vegas the first time, especially you Mike Lampman.

To much snow on the ground for the planes to get off the runways safely as far as I am concerned. One little tip and the plane becomes a one sided snow plow. Not my kind of trip these days.

So this reunion is supposed to be casual, hummm what does that mean? Are we all going to meet out in the desert and have a big old Paramount High School bon fire and sing cum by ah? That really does sound kind of fun.

Stephanie Eyler and Betty Haskins I hope you will be there to join in with us again, it was so great getting to see you both again. You were both a big part of our class, even though you were the little punks one year behind us. LOL Betty, I remember working with you on the student councils, that was alot of fun wasn't it?
Let's see your names on that list soon.

Good night all.......
Lynne

Hi fellow classmates,

Well Pat you nailed that one, Good old Dr. Mertz Biology 101 and a royal pain the butt.

No response to Engine Mechanics or Mr. Trask eh? Gosh now I know some of you guys out there attended that class.

I see no one can remember my girlfriend back then. She was the love of my life then and kept me from doing things I would regret later... She also was very well known on campus, ahhh well you don't remember... Guess what? I'm not gonna tell you either... na na na na na...

Hey classmates, we are in a virtual heat wave here, up to 36 yesterday and 39 today. Now with all this snow guess what happens next... it melts... all over everything, every road, every walk, everything and then night time comes, temperatures drop, and all that wonderful melted snow (water) now turns to black ice. You want to know why it's black ice? It's perfectly clear and you can't see it. Then here comes Ray, struttin' along and guess what happens? You got it! Ray goes on his butt, side, face what ever direction I happen to take when I go down... Usually I don't get hurt, other than my pride and my vanity... but wow what a shock when it happens and it seems to happen more and more... me thinks it has to do with age???

Lynne, I got your snowball and thought about retribution when I had this idea... I know what I'm gonna do... I talked to the snow plow driver up there on your street... and guess what he's gonna do for me?.... Ha Ha Ha...

Phyllis me dear one... How are you? Welcome back to the forum. I missed you. How is married life treating you?

Mike Lampman is very quiet... me thinks he is enjoying the weather there too much... Hey Mike! Hellooooo?????

Well no one's talking back now, so I guess I will get to work... No snow until tonight so work consists of training, safety, and quality control. This time of year it is training and well I need to go train.

Hugs and Hand-shakes to you all,
Ray

01/08/09 08:26 AM #1455

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Hey Ray,
Oh man do I know what you mean about the ice, my only problem was up on the roof once we got to the bottom of the snow there we found the slippery ice, so my idea as I started to slip on the roof and was heading down the peak of the valley decided to sit on my butt and just BUTT PLOW the rest of the snow to the edge of the house.
Little scary, but at least I didn't fall off the roof.

For some reason our snow plow man hasn't been by our street in a few days, so we have a slick sheet of ice and ruts. If you turn the car radio up loud and just head on down the road those ruts can throw your head all around and you just kind of look like you are "rocking out".

Another thing my friend, don't hold out to much hope for the snow plow driver. I'm one of those people that stand in my nice clean driveway as he comes by to make his six foot berm (that I just shoveled) I stand there with a six gauge shot gun, so he lifts that blade right up, therefore he won't be able to throw that snowball.

Now all you folks in the nice warm cozy places, look at all the fun you are missing out on.

Guess it's time to get busy. I still need to get things ready for the big Yellowstone trip.

God Bless You All,
Lynne

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Hey, I like the communication and the funny stories, keep them coming Ray. Oh Ray about your girl friend was it Phyllis Willhite?

Love the stories regarding the snow, everyone who lives in it. You guys hang in there. Just think about all the exercise you are getting - ya don't have to go to the gym.

Looks like the mini reunion is going to be something. Hey, I am all for the bon fires - camp sites in the desert. No seriously wherever it is, it will be great. Look at the list of names growing each day. Hey Randy, glad to see you on the list too.

See ya,

Lorene

Hey Lorene, You nailed that one. You are right and don't tell anyone that it was Phyllis Wilhite okay. I think she wants to keep that secret...

Hugs to you,
Ray

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Hi Ray, no I am sure that I will not tell everyone about the girl you were talking about, your girlfriend Phyllis. Classmates your eyes were closed right!

Keep shoveling that snow in Idaho, Montana, & Utah.
I can imagine how cold it is, especially when I get off from work, I think it's freezing cold, go home to a warm fire in the fireplaces. Those wood buring stoves really heat our tri level home. Christmas day, Roland had them both blaring away, we had to open windows it was so warm, but raining outside. Our firewood is the wood that they use to build Fender Guitars, so the fire is nice, clean and hot. (they use alder & ash)

Ray, hugs right back at you. I still remember how gracious you were to Maurene and I at the Las Vegas reunion. I'll never forget it, thanks again.

Take care everyone!

Lorene

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Ray,
I knew who the lady in your life was all along I just didn't want to get you in trouble, you seem to do OK in that area all by yourself. LOL!!!

So, now our snow is melting fast and the flooding is starting. We put the pump under the house and have the fire hose stretched out to the back creek. Maybe it's time to get the boat out. Ah, probably still a little to chilly only 38 degrees out right now.

Hey, why don't we all start putting our heads together for ideas for our 45th reunion. We all seemed to think that we didn't get enough time together on the week end in Las Vegas so we need a little more time. Some of us talked about a cruise, but them found out we could only have a room for a small amount of time and then we would be on our own again. I know there has got to be something we can do. Let's put on our thiking hats and think of something fun and exciting we can do.

Maybe going to some kind of resort on the coast for five days or somthing? Maybe Phyllis could set up a suggestion list we could post on.

OK, I'll let the rest of you talk now.
Lynne

Phyllis Willhite

Ok Ray, It is not a secret. But not everyone knew us that well in high School. Yes, we were an ITEM for about a year. From the middle of our junior year till the middle of the senior year. And then an un-named female told me something about Ray. Instead of going to him and talking about it and finding out the truth, I just broke up with him. We didn't get to what really happened until last year. Upon looking back, it appears that someone was just trying to stir up trouble between us and sorry to say, it worked. Ray, I have very fond memories of you and the times we spent together, and had it not have been for you know who, we might still be together today, who knows.

Gosh Ray and Phyllis,
It sounds like a Love Story book or something, I am waiting for the happy ending. Good thing I know you both and that you both do have a happy ending.

Gosh, I wonder how many of us have those secret high school love stories? Hummm, I know I have a few but I'm not saying anything until one of them does.

Lynne

aw, come on Lynne enlighten us.

01/08/09 05:56 PM #1463

Phyllis Willhite

Ray and I do have a happy ending. After 40 years, we were able to see and talk with each other and find out the truth of what happened and laugh about it. Now we have a wonderful friendship.

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Lynne,

Phyllis, Pat Kuester, Pat Hamilton and myself are going to start looking for a location for the 45th reunion. More and likely it will be at a resort for a long week-end. The survey we did after the 40th reunion came back to wanting it back in Calif. We have lots of choices here and as we talked before you are included in the committee and who ever else that wants to help for that matter. Vegas will be fun in June.(HOT) but at this moment that sounds very very good. Our tree is gone now and I get to have our furnace back up a few degrees.....Yeah!!! what a blessing. Still cold although it is suppose to be in the 80's this week-end. Go figure.

An up date on Jim (my husband). His doctor took him off chemo. The tumors in his lungs have not changed since June so he seems to think thy are dead. He will just have a chest x-ray from time to time to make sure nothing is changing. Thank you to all who have been praying for him...

Maurene & Lorene my thoughts and prayers are for both of you going thru all with your folks. Lynne still keep you in my thoughts too.

All of you snow country folks be safe in all that white stuff....

Carol

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Hey Billie

It looks like that June 6th list in Las Vegas is growing by leaps and bounds, I hope they will be able to find a place big enough for us. It's funny this started out as a little reunion and now look at it. Is it still going to be casual? Is there going to be a formal dinner night and all that? Or are we just going to get together and be able to talk and visit, I think that's what most of us want to do anyway. Just my opinion, but I don't care about a DJ or a big dinner, I just want to see all of you again.

Thank you girls that are working so hard on things.

Betty Haskins, and Stephanie Eyler I still don't see your names on that list????

Lynne

01/08/09 07:31 PM #1467

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

I like Lynne's idea of a place where we can just talk and hang out. DJ and big dinner is OK but most just want to visit.....The Gold Coast was really a great spot.

7:50 pm we just had what seemed like a huge earthquake. I need to go watch the TV to see how really big it was.
