Lynne,
Sorry to hear your Mom has gotten worse. I understand how this disease is. At the end my Mom was the same. You do have alot to handle there and Idaho did sound like alot of fun. but I am sure that everyone will understand. Your Mom needs you. It will nice to see you in June at the Vegas Party 2009. We are still in the works on where it will be held but should have an answer soon.
Our prayers are with you and your family.
Peggy

Hi Becki,
Thank you - yes, we had a nice New Year's - stayed home - and I ended up falling asleep so Stu had to wake me before 12 to watch the fireworks on TV. That will be great to see you again for the Vegas Party - we really hope you will be able to make it.
We became grandparents again this morning at 1:51am - Bob (son #3) and Michelle had a little girl - Lauren Louise 8lbs 15ozs. We now have 2 birthdays to celebrate - Debbie turned 35 today too.
I will add you to our list for June. The Idaho trip sounded so nice - and so sorry Lynne's Mom is not doing well.
Take care and Happy New Year to YOu and Bob.
Peggy

Lynne, I am so sorry that you mother is not doing well. Just know that we all understand about cancelling the Idaho reunion. We all love you and know that your family has to be you first priority at this time. I pray that God will give you the strength that you need daily to do what He wants you to do.

Blessings to you and your family,
Phyllis

Charnetia, loved you family pictures and the paintings you did are beautiful. Thank you for sharing them. For those of you who have not seen them, go to Charnetia Anderson Pokorny's profile and check them out.

Hi fellow classmates,

Well I have to toot the Utah horn here and say "Did you all see Utah Utes win against Alabama?" I was really glad to see them go all the way this year and now be recognized as the only undefeated team in the nation is just icing on the cake.

Let's talk about snow... anybody want some??? I have plenty! Will ship it to you cheap! No??? I don't blame you a bit. Driveway is sorta cleared, it is so cold here the ice melt doesn't work to get that last ice off the concrete. Even in the sun! Sidewalk to the front door is clear. Deck is sorta clear 1/2 of it anyway. Ray's lost 5 pounds in the last week shoveling snow, breaking up ice, etc.

I was sorry to hear that the Idaho reunion is cancelled, however the Vegas one looks pretty good right now. Heat, wonderful blessed heat, dry heat... sounds really good doesn't it? Put myself and Pam down for Vegas reunion and I promise not to bring any snow. My heart goes out to Dorothy and Joel in Wyoming with all the snow they are getting hit with. Makes my house look like nothing and I have almost 18" on the ground that will be here til first thaw. Dorothy, you two stay warm up there. By the way classmates, I called her and Joels house a log cabin. Could not be more wrong as it is really a log home. Complete with many rooms, main level and basement along with good size loft. A log cabin sounds like a shelter from the weather, and that is definitely not what they have.

I had a call from one of my main workers Salvador from deep in southern Mexico for Christmas day and he had to tell me he was wearing a t-shirt and shorts in 82 degree weather. Me thinks I should be going to Mexico for the winters. Something wrong with this picture. He did invite Pam and I down to stay with him in one of his extra houses that is empty and held for guests. Now I know I am doing something wrong here.

I tend to ramble on when I start writing here. Someone tap me on the shoulder and tell me to shut up. Hey! I said tap. That hurt!

Later you all,
Ray

Looking forward to spring, (are we there yet?)

Hi Ray,
Love your stories. The snow sounds so beautiful - but glad I don't live in it - I would never survive - at 65 & 70 degrees, I'm still in a jacket and complaining its cold. God bless you for being able to handle the cold. We have good friends who live in Logan and have seen the snow they have gotten - wow...
Anyway - I will add you and Pam to the list - looking forward to seeing you in June.
Take care
Peggy

Lynne I too am so sorry to hear your mother is doing so poorly. We understand about the reunion. Charnetia as I told you, your paintings are lovely and Ray keep right on chatting. I can just see your home buried in snow. It's a pretty sight I'm sure. I'm still waiting to see the photos of the Tetons.

Take care all, have a great New Year.

Ray, You keep on "ramblin'." I love your stories, and the pictures of the Buffalo's are amazing. My husband says they are some dumb animals, but it seems to me they knew right where they wanted to go...towards your truck! Glad you and Pam weren't Buffalo dinner! Happy snow boarding. Take care, Sandi, Oh yeah, it was 55 degrees here in Mesa today and cloudy. Burrrr!

Charnetia Anderson (Pokorny)

Thank you Phyllis and Pat for your kind words. I had one of my paintings hanging in the ladies bathroom at school, and a parent went into the restroom during Parent Conference night. She came out saying, "I need to get my sister so she can come and see this painting...I just love it." It took me by surprise that someone really liked my work enough to show someone else. Since that incident, I took another look at what I create, and now I have a little more confidence to share my work with the public. For several years I have painted a canvas and then made Christmas cards out of the print. I have even seen friends frame their Christmas cards and hang them in their homes. I just love to paint for fun. It sends good chemicals into your brain to make you feel better. It is the best therapy ever. Again, thank you for appreciating my work. God bless you!!

Hey, talk about weather, move to Oklahoma...you get it all. Yesterday, it was a balmy 78 degrees here. Today it is a freezing 28 degrees and it feels like 17. It is supposed to get down to 22 tonight. I think our weather changes so much we don't know what season we are actually in. Tomorrow they are predicting about 39 degrees with a wintry mix, meaning rain, sleet and or snow. Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain!

Your paintings are beautiful - you should be very proud to display them. You also have a very lovely family. Enjoyed your pictures.

Lynne, so sorry to hear about your mom. Trust me I truly understand. When I sent a reply to your email this morning, I had not read the forum regarding Idaho being cancelled. Honestly, we truly understand. As for me, I cannot commit to Las Vegas yet, it is a wait and see with my parents too.

Nice to see everyone chatting back and forth, keep it up. So sorry I have not been online doing the same, it seems as though my plate is pretty full at this moment.

Love the pictures Lynne of your home. We did take a break with our kids and grandkids to Big Bear to play in the snow. Oh it was so much fun!!! I need to get some snow boots though, my feet were cold. I had snow pants on, at least my upper body was warm. You know as we were leaving it was snowing all the way down the mountain. I love the snow!!! We want to go back and rent a place for the weekend. Does anyone know of anyone who rents cabins for the weekend in Big Bear?

Take care everyone and Happy New Year!!!

Lorene

Classmates
Thank you to all of you that have sent encouraging messages, and called as well. I know that many of us lose our parents, it's part of life.
However, in reality my Mom is still here, but in all honesty I feel as if we lost her this week. She has taken such a turn for the worse and can't even speak a real sentence, she just doesn't know where she is or who she is talking to. She couldn't even figure out what the white stuff was on the ground all around us. It's such a horrible disease I just can't tell you how awful it is. I feel as if I have not only lost my mom, but my best friend and my pal. She just looks at me with this far away look in her eyes, it breaks my heart.

I am so sorry to all of you that had signed up for the Idaho reunion, I had no idea this was going to happen so quickly. My family is my life, and as many of you know I have to put them first.

Thank you for your loving thoughts and support, and hopefully someday we will all meet up in Idaho.

My duties now are to start looking for a Alziemer facility that I feel is appropriate and good enough to care for her, something I promised I would never do to my parents.

Right now I'd just like to ask all of you for your prayers, that's the only thing that is going to help her situation. I hope that she will just be able to go to sleep one day and enter into Heaven and be with our Heavenly Father.

Sorry my email has been such a downer, but I felt you should know how sorry I am about having to cancel.

Love you all,
Lynne

Hi Billie,
Thank you so much. Lauren is a sweetie, it just kills us that we won't be able to see her until late this summer. So we have to rely on pictures. We are getting web cams for us and the kids.
Take care dear friend and will call you soon

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Ok Lynne, I put Roland's and my name on the list for Las Vegas. Hopefully we will be able attend. It just depends on what is happening with my parents, so we will plan at this time to go.

Lynne, you hang in there. So sorry about your mom. Hey you are just like Maurene, my sisters & I regarding our parents. We are all extremely close. The hardest part is seeing your parent/s slip away. You fondly remember all the good times and great adventures together as a family. Hold on to those memories. Remember too, please call me anytime, day or night if you need to talk, to cry or just need to hear someone's voice. I'am here for you my friend.

Regarding Las Vegas: Peggy are you going to contact the same hotel for discounts if we get enough people to attend? Where is everyone going to meet?

Take care everyone.

Lorene

Just a little suggestion about how the list is updated?

Once the list has been updated if you go back to the message where you updated it and delete it, we won't have so many copies on a given page.

Especially when the list is active, if you miss a day you got all those copies to wade through.

Happy, happy.

Hi Fellow Classmates,

Well I just returned home after 14.5 hrs driving a snow plow, and guess what? More blankety, blank, blank snow on the way this afternoon and tonight. I know "quit yer bellyachin" I chose to live here. By the way someone shoot the next person that says "global warming". It is colder than you know what up here in 'white Utah' The spring, summers and fall are just beautiful in contrast to white Utah. The last missive I posted here I said my driveway was clear sorta... not anymore... I said the walk to the house was clear... not anymore... and guess what "I don't give a hoot" How's that grab ya????

Okay enough, Whats new? I see new grandbabies, new loves, probably some old loves not doing too well too. I see life goes on no matter how much it snows... So I will join life. What can I tell you about today?

I remember back in high school when we had 5 mins. to get from class to class and I could see the people in the office working on my schedule so I had to cross that campus every period change. I used to think that if I knew who it was that set my schedule up - I would strangle em. Kept the weight off me though. I used to miss seeing my girl friend because I had to hustle my buns to each class (betcha can't guess who my girlfriend was)and then Dr. Mertz... What can I say about good old Dr. Mertz... He made me sit in the front row by Stephanie Eyler so she could keep me in line. (He didn't know I had a crush on her back then) Worked for me! But that guy would bust my butt over anything I did... (or didn't do) Anybody out there remember Engine Mechanics and Mr. Trask? That was a fun subject for me...

Let me know if anyone can remember who my girlfriend was!!

Keep smiling, I'm sure I jogged some memories loose here... See what the snow has done to me??? made me loose lipped and sorta weird coming up with all these things...

Hugs and hand-shakes to you all,
Ray

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Ray, you just keep on rambling. I hate to tell you the weather update since you say I keep sending it to you from Idaho but it's snowing like crazy here. We have had several roofs fall in, so my husband just left his job in Moses Lake to come home and start shoveling our roof. Now, you haven't mentioned shoveling your roof my friend so.........I've got you on that one. Two days ago my oldest son and I were on the roof shoveling for hours. Talk about hard work, and trying not to fall off.
I did most of my shoveling while sitting on my butt and shoving the snow off chunks at a time. Today the snow is wet and heavy, not good. Great snow if you want to make a nice big fat snowman, not so good if you want to clear your driveway and decks.
So my friend just hang in there and keep on pushing that snow, you know it's got to come to an end sometime. Then look at what we get, beautiful mountains, spings, lakes, trees, etc. it's never ending beauty and we are very blessed to live in the places we do.

I have to say you have stumped me on the girlfriend question? Stephanie??? since you said you like sitting next to her in class.

Keep writing, it's nice to know that our forum is still alive after our reunion.

I'm throwing a big fat snowball at you......
Love ya,
Lynne

Wasn't Dr. Mertz at Alondra Jr.? He was the other half of the Science Dept., Mertz and Dahlen.

I had Mr. Silver for Science in high school. He added a lot of dry humor. Sandy was in the class along with Mark Manus. Remember him? He moved away in 11th grade.

Steve Wysong sent me a card. Said that he is retiring. Steve and Renee Minium have moved back here to California.

Talk to ya al' soon,

Mark

Lorene,
At this time - I have not firmed up with the same hotel. In the early part of June the hotels are giving better discounts. So we, the committee are still working on a good rate. We should have a decision made within a couple of weeks. At that time we will post it and also give the cost of the function. We are wanting to keep the cost down so its a wheel & deal time for us. Hang in there we'll have something soon.
Peggy

Pat Kuester (Bowen)

Mark,
Dr. Mertz was a science teacher at the high school. He taught biology & physiology along with Mr Zabrinsky. He always wore a bow tie, but I don't think he wore a toupee. Dr. Mertz is on my "I Did Not Like" list.
I was so shy, and it was obvious I was shy. He had the female reproduction organs drawn on the board. He picked me to go to the board and show the progress of the egg to the uterus. Why would he ask any student male or female to do this? He knew it would be embarrasing for anyone our age. Besides it's a damned one way street (for the egg that is). Which way would the egg go for cripes sake? Anyway, even though I was a goody two shoes and always did what I was told, I refused to do it.
Now I'm going to be pissed off all day about that little twirp. He embarrassed me a couple of times the year I had him. I am sure it was intentional.
