Marianna,

Like the military picture. It's hard to believe you were in the service. What year was that? Nice picture. Thank you for protecting our country....

I just had to come on the forum and say that I have a new grandson. My oldest daughter, Rachel gave birth to her first child this morning at 2:20a.m. His name is Christian Raphael Hardin. He weighed 8 lbs. 15 ozs. and is 20.5 inches long. And of course he is beautiful. I don't have the time to get a picture posted now. But I will add one soon.

Marianna, I too thank you for serving our country. It had to take a very special woman to do that at the time you were in. Love the picture.

Phyllis, congratulations on your new grand baby. I can't wait to see the pics. I would love to have some more grandbabies mine are not babies anymore and my kids are done.

Carol,
The rain was really coming down yesterday and last nite too this morning it is quiet and cold. Got lots of snow in the mountains, we can see it from the house - we are close to both mountain ranges. Both of my girls hate to go out in the rain they touch the ground first and shake their feet - they too are wimps about it. Bailey is getting pretty old she is 15 and shadow will be 11 in March and both are spoiled. Stay warm and hang out by that fire.

Marianna, great picture thanks for posting it.

Phyllis, congrats on the new grandson - don't forget the pics.

Billie, can't wait to se the pics.

Gosh, I miss a couple of days on the forum and all of a sudden you guys are having new grandbabies, CONGRATS I'm so happy for you both. Can't wait to see their photos, you know me I never get enough photos of the little ones.

There is nothing like grandkids is there?
I know I can be in the worst of moods and one of those kids will walk thru the door and just light up my life. One of the things my husband is missing more than anything working away from home, is being away from his grandkids.

Marianna, thanks for posting your photo, you know how I feel about our military and I thank you as I continue to do all of the folks that continue to serve.

I'm starting to worry about you guys in that cold rainy weather, not sure if I should start sending up some of my snow gear to you. Just let me know if you need any hats, scarves or jackets, maybe even snow boots, I'll share. (you guys know I'm kidding)

Love ya
Lynne

Well, congrats to the new grandmas! Marianna, what a cute picture in your uniform! I, too am freezing my toosh off. We got some of the rain here as well, and always here in the desert, we get lots of thunder and stuff. I have a question for our resident hair stylist, Carol. What shampoo can I use to keep my "slightly" color treated hair from fading so fast? Or perhaps I need a different brand? I'm a color it at home kinda girl. Help!!

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Sandy,

First off doing your hair at home is perfectly OK, but the maintenance is what will keep the hair the best. I recommend and also use on myself and my clients is Modern ELIXIRS Color Therapy Shampoo and Color Therapy Conditioner. I have tried them all and this works the best. These are the high end product of Paul Mitchell. Only can be purchased in a salon or a beauty supply that has a salon. If you have a Maly's or Cosmoprof over there and have a friend that is a hairdresser they could purchase for you. Ask your hairdresser if she/he can get it for you. Try not to shampoo your hair everyday and this also helps....

Good luck...

Carol

Hi Gang:

With my son back home and grandsons every weekend I feel like my well-ordered, quiet little life is shot to heck but I guess chaos is what keeps us young.

I really don't have much to say either - just a short hello and that I am really, really looking forward to seeing you all again in June in Vegas.

Molly

Favorite DUMB joke: A horse walks into a bar and the bartender says, "why the long face?"

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

Hi Molly,
Hope things get worked out and you are able to relax from all the chaos - kids - sometimes they just keep us going in a hundred different directions don't they? But what would we do without them? Looking forward to seeing you in June also.
Take care
Peggy

Okay everybody. We got tired of messin' with rain and went to snow. It has been snowing almost all day. Most of it has stuck. If it continues I won't be able to go to work tomorrow. Darn, I hate it when that happens.

Stay warm everyone. I am, I have my fireplace going and I'm cracking the whip to get Steve to keep putting more wood on. :)

I felt left out, everyone was getting snow and we were staying in the high 60's....well today we got snow. The last time it snowed here was in 1988. I live on the Central Coast of California near San Luis Obispo. It stuck around for about two hours and then poof it was gone....so much for a winter wonderland...weird weather.
Watch out Mike it might be headed your way!! : }

Stay warm all of you in the cold country.

Regards,
Marsha

It is really hard to see but it is snowing really hard. Even tho' it snowed almost all day we still only got about an inch on the ground.

Pat, that would be plenty enough snow for me. I did rain hard here today though and there was lots of wind too.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Hey guys you really don't know what snow is......did you look at the photo on the front page of the website that I sent to you? Now that's snow. LOL

I don't know what I'm laughing about right now to tell you the truth. My husband called me at 6 pm he had just got home from work over in Moses Lake. He found the front door to our condo broken down and we had been robbed blind, computers, flat screen tv, and who knows what else at this point. It's horrible not being there with him, but he said he is coming home tonight. He is pissed to say the least, sorry for the bad word.

So now, that two of us that have been robbed in that last few months poor Robin was the last one. I'm just thankful it wasn't here at our real home.

Went to the nursing home today to sign my mom up for activity day, tomorrow is supposed to be the first day I take her. So, keep your fingers crossed.

Everyone take care, and honest if you are really freezing in that 50 and 60 degree weather I will send my snow stuff down to you. :-) Even though we only had a high of 30 today, but I can handle that easy you know me.

Love you guys

Marianna Brown (Schechter)

I am going to be gone for a few days, maybe more. My brother, Danny, in Arizona isn't doing very well. He got sick last week, ended up in the hospital. They put him into a drug induced coma. They stopped giving him the drugs on Saturday. He still hasn't come out of the coma. He is unresponsive and on life support. He has a systemic infection throughout his body. The DR. has given him less than 10% chance of pulling out of it. If nothing has changed by Thursday they are going to take him off life support. I need to be there. Say your prayers. I will be driving over early on Wednesday.

Marianna,
Our prayers are with you. Be careful on the drive over and if there is anything you need- let us know. We were hoping that he may have upgraded since we talked. Keep us posted.

Oh no Marianna...I'm so deeply saddened for you that your brother has become so sick. Any reasons for the infection? One little deadly bacteria can just end your entire worldly life. I lived through the "flesh eating bacteria" in my right leg in 2002, I do believe in miracles! We want one for your brother honey. Please keep us posted, when you can, and may God bless you AND YOUR BROTHER!!! Sincerely, Robin

Marianna, I am so sorry to hear about Danny. I remember him so well from when we were growing up. He was always full of fun. I will be praying for him and you as well as the rest of your brothers and sisters. Please offer my best regards to them also.

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Marianna,

I will keep you and your brothers and sister's in my prayers. Please be careful on the drive to Arizona. It is always a difficult thing to go thru when we see this happening to our family. I lost my only brother 2 1/2 years ago and have really never gotten over this. My prayers are for Danny. I too remember him when we were growing up.

Wow guys, it sounds like a lot of us are going thru some horrible trials at this time. It's horrible to see our loved ones so ill. The BuSteed's have a hard road they are facing at this time with their father, please take the time to keep them in your prayers as well.

I took my mom to the assisted living facility today, not an easy thing to do even as an out patient. We all know it's coming, and for some of you that don't know much about Alzheimer's the outcome is that you die from this disease.

I'd like to publicly THANK Gene Muren for all of his support and kindness to me. Gene your emails and Alzheimers information have been a godsend to me. Thank you so much my friend.

Prayers and loving thoughts to you Marianna, Lorene and Maurene.

Thank you Phyllis for this site, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to lean on one another as we all grow old together, aren't we blessed!

Love
Lynne

I too hold you in my prayers Marianna. I know somewhat what you are going through. I was told my brother had terminal cancer. We were so lucky it turned out to be an infection instead.

Steven's sister is going to finally get a new kidney on Thursday after many years of waiting. She has no functioning kidney. Her unselfish daughter is donating. We are so excited but are scared too. She is having it done at Loma Linda which is very encouraging.

Anyway, my prayers to all who are having these family crisis'.

Thanks for the info, Carol. I will try it. God Bless all of us who need the strength to help our loved ones.

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Hello everyone,

First and foremost thank you Lynne for the kind words. You are dealing with some major things with your mom too and we pray for you.

Marianne, sorry to hear about your brother, I truly know what you are going thru and our best to you and your family.

You know that ole saying, it's hard to see your parents suffer towards the end of their life. Our father has been dealing with cancer for the last 12 years, and only having one kidney since he was 20 years old. His cancer went into remission for many years. I think his greatest problem was with the tube that went into his bladder. He was always having some sort of infection.

Our father is home on his ranch, resting peacefully in a hospital bed. We have hospice at this moment (wonderful people they are). It's only a matter of time. We are playing his favorite country music (Merle Haggard). My parents favorite song is "Silver Wings". My sisters and I are taking turns at our dad's side, talking to him, praying with him and siting the "Lords Prayer".

Take care one and all,

Lorene & Maurene
