Robin Scott...Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you...you sweet lady!

Lynne...If you asked me 36 years ago what I did in the Army...I wouldn't have been able to answer you. I was in communications. I was the 3rd woman through my MOS (schooling). I worked with crypto...codes. This was during the Viet Nam war. If I had been sent there I would have been one of the first to go into an area to set up secure communications. I did have M16 training. I did terrible on the first half of qualifying. Night fire was much easier for me. 25 out of 25. It was years later that I found out that I was left eye dominant and being right handed makes trying to look into a scope very hard. One of these days I will quit being so lazy and get a picture of myself in uniform scanned in and put into my profile.

Marianna,
Wow, that is really interesting what a great job to have in the service.
We all need to thank you for being there to serve our country, THANK YOU.

I was married when the draft started and was lucky we didn't get drafted. I don't know what I would have done.
My brother served in Okanowia and he really did not like it at all.

Our middle son served in the Air Force during Desert Storm, that was a scary time.

Thanks for sharing your story, it was very interesting.
Get that photo up, we'd love to see it. You should be proud, I know I am proud of you and what you did for us.

Talk to you soon.
Lynne

Question to the forum: I thought Richard Chapman was deceased, however, his bio has been updated recently
suggesting he has been found to be among the living.
Is there a story behind this recent good news or, like
Mark Twain, rumors of his death have been greatly exagerated. Any thoughts on this?????

01/30/09 09:42 PM #1652

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Hey Mike,
Funny you should ask, I sent Richard an email to his private address after I got it from Gary Buice. Richard, Gary and some of the other guys and I used to hang out when we were at Alondra Jr High. We used to hang out at Cathy Golden's house out front most of the time. I know I have some photos of that, but just have to find them.
It's kind of hard when you've had two house fires. BUT I know I have one some place.

Richard is doing well, you should send him a note I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

But, Lynne. Didn't I see his name in the In Memory section
or am I mistaken? I think someone mentioned that he died in Vietnam.... But, this is all good news. I certainly remember him, there wasn't much that he didn't find funny. And he had such a great laugh.

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Mike,

Richard Stitt is the one who died in Viet Nam. Richard Chapman is not on the list we have put together. You can click on the In Memory page and you will not find Richard Chapman on the list.Just for your info.

Thanks Carol. It's certainly good to have Richard around.
You're right, I must have been thinking of someone else.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Mike,
I'm sure you must have been thinking of Richard Stitt, he was a really neat guy. Not that Richard Chapman isn't a neat guy. I have fond memories of both of these guys.
Richard Stitt was an old heart throb!

Hope all is well in the coconut trees.
Love you my friend.

Kind of quiet in the forum, how is everyone? What's new with all of you?

I can't bear to see our great forum start to slow down and the thought of all of us losing contact with one another again just really bumms me out folks. As you can see I don't really have anything to say just want to try to keep this site going.

Let's see, well we still have snow on the ground here in Idaho and you might see a photo soon of the deer. That is, if one of my dear friends can figure out how to post it for me.

I stay busy taking care of my mom, hubby is still over in Moses Lake working on that big job.

We had a wonderful 40th Anniversary over on the coast, it was so great to walk along the shore and listen to the waves. I miss that, all of you that live close to the ocean are very lucky. I love my snow, but I do miss the ocean.

OK, I did my part........next!
Love ya
Lynne

Cheryl Thurlo (Burke)

Hi Lynne and all who read the forum:

Just sitting here on Friday morning enjoying the quiet and the rain. We really needed the rain and it is so nice for us here in So Cal.

Having lunch tomorrow with Jan Foster, Betty Haskins and my sister, Connie the weather permitting, in Seal Beach. We are trying to get together at least once a month to stay in touch. We will see how that works out.
Molly usually joins us also but she is busy for the next few weekends.

It is great to see all that are going to attend the reunion in Vegas in June. I have not ruled it out but my daughter is getting married on the 13th of June so if I do go it will be last minute.

As some of you know we have a home in Indiana as well and are going to be back there in May to attend the Indy 500 with about 22 family members, some from back there and some from here. Probably won't be home until the 1st of June, thus my dilemma in attending the reunion.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,
Sounds like you have a jammed packed couple of months and alot of fun. Hope you will be able to make the Vegas Party - I sent you a flyer. If you have any questions please let me know. It will be great to get everyone together again.

Your rain is headed our way to Vegas - suppose to start by evening and the clouds are rolling in. We too need the rain.

Take care and looking forward to seeing you again.

Cheryl,
So happy to hear that you girls are getting together with Jan, that will really be great for her to stay in touch. Keep working on her for the reunion, I think once she got there she would have a wonderful time.

I hope all goes well with your daughters wedding, remember to enjoy all of the pre-wedding stuff too. I know how hectic it can be, but once it's over and done with you will sit back and say how beautiful it was and how much fun you had.

Someday my hopes are to open the lake house as a wedding spot on the lake with my oldest granddaughter. We have talked about it since she was a little girl. It's the perfect place for a summer wedding.

Good luck and have a great time, hope you can squeeze Vegas in but with that schedule you would have to be wonder woman.

Love ya,
Lynne

Billie,
That card was pretty good huh! Glad Bob enjoyed it. The guys wiil have a great time.
The rain is coming down here and pretty cold, anyway I think it is. I don't care for cold weather and just say it's only for a couple of months. The news last night said at Mt Charleston which is about an hour or so away they are expecting 8" of snow. For us that is pretty good. For those of our classmates that live in snow country it probably only seems like mini ground cover.
Thanks again for everything.
Peggy

Peggy be prepared. We had really really hard rains last night and most of the day today. I love the rain. So nice to get all bundled up by the fire and enjoy the rain on the roof. We had thunder and lightening this morning. Our dog is such a wimp. She wouldn't go out this morning to do her morning things because it was raining, so I was about to get out the umbrella and walk her out. The lightening struck, she jumped into my lap so fast and just shook, by this time I needed to get ready for work so it was her and Jim. Well first thing I know she is out in the rain going to the bathroom. I guess the thunder scared the pee out of her....She is so funny. I may check out the rain boots for her so she doesn't get her little tootsies wet. This is a cold rain heading your way. If you can imagine the weather forecast for next week is the mid to high 50's. Now you know my friends we here in So. Calif. are to me freezing our tushes off. Billy you have my sympathies. I really don't like the really cold weather either. Everyone stay warm.

PS. Our Christmas Tree is gone this time and I WILL use the furnace to stay warm. LOL

Carol
