Dear friends,

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. I just got back from a great birthday dinner at the "Fish Tale" in Long Beach. It has been one of our favorite restaurants for many, many years.

I am working on the Vegas get together this summers...hopefully, I will be able to commit soon. I had such a great time last year....I really look forward to seeing so many of you.

Again, thanks for the BD wishes. I am 58 and feel great!! I think it has something to do with experiencing the 60's as a teenager.

Question to the group....if you don't send in your money and register by the end of next week...does that mean you can't attend the LV June reunion? Since they aren't taking anyone at the door.... If it's true, I suppose you can still cocktail with everyone since it it's a cash bar....any thoughts on this?

Thank you for your question.
As Billie explained in the above posting, regarding Paramount Pirates Vegas Party 2009.
When you have a Venue with a Hotel and Catering these funds have to be paid in advance. I had paid monies for deposits from my personal funds based on those who said they were attending and I guaranteed funds. If we had people showing up at the door this would create a huge problem – first of all I would be held to the contract and I would be required to pay out of my own pocket, second we give them a count of the people that have paid and the food would be ordered and if more people showed up then what?? Not enough food. I am sure that anyone who has booked events will also agree that the costs have to be pre-paid.
One of the concerns I have is with waiting till the last minute and showing up is there may not be a party to show up for. The rates we have worked out with the Golden Nugget is based upon the pre-registered classmates that said they were coming. If we don’t get that number we won’t be able to have the party. Presently we have only received about 50% of what we need

I think it would really be inappropriate for anyone to just come and crash the party without paying, don’t you think?

If extra time is need to pay the deposit give me a call or email me.

We still have lots of snow on the ground. I can't wait for Spring, so we can get out there and start working in our vegetable garden.

There may just be some of us whose June schedule isn't clear enough by the end of the month and aren't certain if they can come until later. However, the details, and thank you for clarifying things, are clear to me. I certainly wasn't proposing a wedding crashers scenario
or having dinner without paying for it. And thanks for

Hello classmates:

Looks like Maurene and I cannot totally commit to registering for the mini reunion in Las Vegas at this time – therefore count us out. There are so many things that we are doing after losing our father and things that we need to take care of on the Ranch. Our mom is going through some procedures too.

If we do decide to go, we will go to the cocktail party on Friday evening. That seems to be the only thing that we can possibly say at this time. I hope you understand.

I didn't mean to come across too harsh but these Venues don't give you very much lee-way at our 40th reunion we had more time to work with so we were able to extend a little more, but this time we don't have alot of time and so as you can see we are on a tighter time constraint. It will truly be a shame if we don't get enough people to participate - this was to get everyone back tgether again so we all can stay in touch and not lose track of our friends and classmates.

What she meant to say was everyone have a great Monday and saying ya right because it was Monday and everyone had to get back to work and not really wanting it to be Monday. I sure hope classmates will attend the Vegas Party in spite of the deadline. I think when this first was in the making I think the classmates just wanted to get together even if it were in just a park not really another dinner and such....

Just to add a little more information into what Billie and Peggy posted about the 'LasVegas Party' in June. We were given the price of the banquet room, buffet dinner based on our numbers. The fewer guests that we have will result in a higher cost per person. That is how all major events are budgeted for.
The reason that no one will be allowed to pay at the door is so that they (Golden Nugget) will know how many to prepare for. How fair would that be to those that paid to have people just entering for free? If you don't want to attend the dinner on Saturday we will be having a mixer at the Golden Nugget on Friday night. But if you are going to be in Las Vegas for the mixer and the hotel room rates are less...why not make it to the dinner?
We were also able to get some very good room rates based on the projected number of guests. At our 40th class reunion the rooms at the Gold Coast ran us $109.00, with this event at the Golden Nugget....$69.00. That is $40.00 less.
If we back out of the "Las Vegas Party' now...Peggy will lose a $500.00 deposit that she paid out of her own pocket.
I have just gotten off the phone with the Golden Nugget...they have given us a very firm cut off date. April 15, 2009...this should be an easy date to remember.

WOW Classmates it sounds like a few of us are having rough Monday's. SMILE ;-)

As for Wedding Crashers, hey Lorene since you and I have matching wedding dresses we could wear our wedding gowns to the mixer on Friday night.

Peggy, I hope that I gave you enough notice to take my name off weeks ago. I am in a very bad situation at this time with my mothers health, I don't know from one day to the next what is going to happen. If any of you have ever had to be a caregiver for a person with Alzheimers you will know what a struggle it is.

I really don't want to step on anyones toes about any of this party venue. However, if it comes right down to it, and come early June things are going good for me with my mom's health, I plan to fly to Las Vegas and meet up with whom ever I see. I may or may not stay at the Golden Nugget, and I will not be attending the banquet. Like someone mentioned in an earlier post maybe some of us will meet up in a park.
If that happens, you shouldn't have much trouble finding us as Lorene and I will be in matching wedding gowns.

Thank you and the others for all your continued efforts in trying to keep our classmates in touch and together. A special, "THANKS" to you for having taken on the financial responsibility to ensure we would have a venue for our gathering.

Because of last years reunion, some of us have been able to reconnect and even get to know each other. Last night a few of our classmates got together to attend a Brooks & Dunn concert. We all continue to praise our 4oth year reunion, and are looking forward to the June gathering, how ever, we realized we had not yet forwarded our $.

So today, in support of your efforts, and high hopes that some how, our classmates will find a way to be able to attend, I say "my check is in the mail".

Seems to me there are a lot of classmates who just want to visit and not bother with the dinner. In all deference to this planning committee they are absolutely correct on the venue,cost and guarantee, however I guess this should have been ask of the classmates if everyone really wanted the dinner thing or just a visit? I think at this point it is a little too late. The list also had a lot of maybe's too.

Hi there. So good to hear from you.
You are very welcome. I am looking forward to seeing you in June and sorry I missed your call tonight. It will fun getting together with classmates and the Venue still stands for those planning on attending.

Brooks & Dunn how exciting they are so good - we have seen them a few times when we lived in Cali and they appearded with Reba - they put on great shows.

The 40th was alot of fun and it has brought many together and this website has been wonderful too - Phyllis did a great job at putting it together for classmates to stay in touch.
