This is very impressive. The fact that Eric joined and served in the military and lived as long as he did. I was always impressed by his positive attitude given all the challenges he faced. I got to know him as he was in several of my classes over the years. I volunteered to help him to his next class by carrying his books and we would talk on the way ( I have to confess that it was a bit selfish as we were allowed to leave class early to avoid the crush in the halls.)
I posted on Facebrook when there was a discussion about what we remembered most about our commencement. Our entire class rose to give him a standing ovation when he climbed the steps and made his way across the stage to receive his diploma. He deserved it and more.
Bill Thomas- Eric's father served in the military and that is his grave marker. Eric was not in the service, but buried with his dad. You are correct---Eric was a very impressive person. He was a ray of sunshine and he just kept shining through all the challenges he faced on a daily basis. We were all blessed to have Eric in our graduating class and to have known him. He always had a smile and a kind word. RIP Eric.
I remember Eric and I shared a class, though I don't remember which. He was a great guy.
I always remember the moment when he walked on stage at Blossom Music Center to receive his diploma, and our class cheering and giving him a well-deserved standing ovation.
