Most significant events in you life

I have to say moving to Phoenix at the beginning of second semester of 10th grade and starting at West High and meeting the friends that I did. For if that hadn't happened I would not have met Larry Martin, fell in love with him and married him right after graduation with our only child, Jay born 1 year later. Unfortunately our marriage did not last but our friendship did until his tragic and untimely death.

Equally significant was meeting the second love of my life , my current husband, Jim Grayson, who has been my rock through the bad times and the good times. He has been there for the joys in raising Jay and the delights of sharing a beautiful granddaughter and on February 18, 2017 we celebrated our 40th anniversary with a trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona.

I did try a career in business but did not find that a fit wIth my M.A. in Anthropology so i entered the non profit arena where I found my home. I retired in 2015 after a 35 year career as a non profit CEO/Admistrator for several organizations, including Southwest Museum, Camp Fire, the L.S.B. Leakey Foundation, American Humanics, Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services, and most recently the California Fire Safe Council, a statewide corporation dedicated to the prevention of wildfires in the state of California through education, planning and prevention activities. In addition I have always found time to volunteer for other non profits.

Currently my husband Jim & I are Docents at The Autry Museum of The American West and have great fun providing museum tours for school children on a weekly basis. And, I'm also a member of the Board of Directors of a transitional housing shelter near our home.

School Story

Don't really have a favorite school story. My parents and I moved to Phoenix from California when I was a Sophomore (2nd semester) and that's when I started at West.

Many of my friends also knew me as "Peggy" (my family's nickname for me) because that's what my girlfriends in the neighborhood called me and so did Larry Martin after we started dating after my first summer at West.

So sorry to hear this. Rochelle was one of the first people to befriend me when I transferred to West High from California. We became good friends and I always regretted losing contact with her after graduation.

I've just learned that one of my great-nieces is getting married the same day as our reunion here in California which means I'll miss the reunion after all. I was looking forward to attending and catching up with high school friends and memories. It's been such a long time. And it would have been such fun to reconnect!
