When Buddy and I were in the first grade, we sat together in reading circle and he would put his arm around me!!! Then later on during homecoming he was the paige and I was the flower girl for Miss Platte Hie and we were going to get married and go to Disneyland for our honeymoon. "Well, Buddy, I did make it to Disneyworld in 2007 and I remembered You!!" Shelley (Dobbs) Larsen

Thanks Shelley for your memory. The things most I remember about Buddy was his musical and theatrical abilities. I also remember him being in the hospital after that car accident, he that stupid vial of mercury that he played with. Rolling it across the table and floor, trying to retreive it back in the bottle. WHere he got it I'm not sure, but today they probably would consider the entire hospital contaminated and need HAZMAT in to clean the room and treat all of us.

Buddy Groth lived on the edge! He enjoyed an opportunity to laugh and to make us laugh. He and I were at Fort Leonard Wood for army basic training in the summer of '79. We were not in the same unit but I knew he was there. He made the cut for the army band. I never envisioned Buddy as an infantryman but as a musician, it was a good fit. I have enjoyed the music of many army bands through my years of service. Buddy served as a part of a great institution and I am confident his role in the army band contributed to the morale of those who served the military in the early 80s.
