DEATH NOTICE FOR STEVEN STREEPER

Steve's daughter, (Alison)  just posted this on Facebook.

Yesterday, my sweet dad passed away after a courageous battle with liver cancer.  I'm so grateful I was able to spend his final days by his side.  He was a kind and gentle soul, brilliant, endlessly curious, a friend to everyone he met, and the most loving father.

Today would have been his 82nd birthday.  Just last week he celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary with his best friend and partner in life.    He lived with a spirit of adventure and never allowed hardships to define him.  His life was full, rich, and deeply meaningful, and he will be so dearly missed.

RIP Steven

P.S.  I will post his obituary when it becomes available

I'm saddened to announce that Francie Lotz Carpenter passed away this morning from breast cancer.  She had been residing at Quail Ridge Assisted Living in Pocatello.  Her Celebration Of Life will be Friday, September 5th at 2pm at Manning Wheatley Funeral Home in Pocatello.

Francie and I worked together for many years at the Union Pacific Railroad.  After the UPRR abolished many jobs here, we both went to work at the FBI.  We were in the same unit and were able to travel together to work on major cases.

I will post her complete obituary when it becomes available.

RIP my dear friend.

OBITUARY FOR FRANCIE MARIE CARPENTER

Francie Marie Carpenter joined her beloved husband of 40 years on September 3, 2025, under the compassionate care of Heritage Hospice at Quail Ridge Assisted Living Faciity.

Born on November 2, 1943, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Bud and Dolly Lotz, Francie grew up with strong family roots, despite being an only child, with a zest for life.  She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Pocatedllo High School where she discovered her passion for tennis.

Francie attended Carroll College for a time.  She eventually crossed paths with a former classmate, Don Sparrow years later in Denver Colorado, and in 1968 they married.  Together they welcomed their cherished daughter Dawn Sparrow-Clark, in 1972.  Francie spent time in Denver and later in Florida before eventually returning home to Pocatello with Dawn in 1975, where she planted her roots for the rest of her life.

Following in her father's footsteps, Francie began a career with the railroad, working in a variety of roles for the next decade.  In 1987, she embarked on a new chapter as an analyst with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  This role took her across the county and she often found herself on the front lines of history working through national events and crises while gathering critical information.  She carried a quiet pride in her work knowing she had made a difference.

In 1976, Francie was introduced on a blind date to the man who would become the love of her life, Bob Carpenter.  After seven years of courtship (in which Bob kept her waiting) they married on May 15, 1982 eloping to Reno, Nevada.  Together Francie and Bob shared countless adventures, camping trips, and simple joys.  Francie often said her favorite memories were of quiet mornings spent drinking coffee with Bob, a ritual they shared for nearly five decades.

In retirement Francie embraced her most treasured role of being a grandmother.  She was a constant presence in her granddaughter's life ensuring she never had to ride the bus by driving her to and from school each day.  She attended every event, supported every milestone, and even joined in the games, once breaking her arm while playing Ring Around the Rosie.

Francie was a woman of extraordinary kindness, compassion, and grace.  She had a gift for listening and was endlessly curious about others, their families, their stories, and their lives.  Whether she knew someone for years or only a few minutes, she left a mark of warmth and thoughtfulness that lingered long after.  She was a steady gentle presence who reminded those around her of the beauty of small moments, unconditional love, and quiet strength.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Carpenter and her parents Bud and Dolly Lotz.  She is survived by her daughter Dawn Sparrow-Clark (Dale) and her granddaughter Hannah Warner (Triston.)

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Manning Wheatley Funeral Home, followed by committal services at Mountain View Cemetary, with Father Amil officiating.

Dawn and Hannah would like to express their deepet gratitude to the dedicated staff at Quail Ridge Assisted Living Facility and Heritage Home Health & Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they showed Francie.

ANOTHER BIG THANK YOU TO JERRY LOWE FOR ADVISING ME OF THIS LOSS

OBITUARY FOR CAROL LORRAINE STODDART TUCKER

On August 22, 2025 the world lost a beautiful, humble and charitable woman.  She returned to her heavenly home from natural causes.  Carol Lorraine Stoddart was born on June 18, 1943.  She was the 2nd of 10 children born to Marcella and Cleve Stoddart.

Surrounded by 1 sister and 8 brothers, she grew up in humble circumstances directly across from the railroad tracks in Pocatello, Idaho.

She dreamed of traveling and joined the Army at the age of 17.  Upon returning, she attended Ricks College and BYU.  Married for a short time, she had her "two angels," Lisa Lorraine and Nathan James.  She loved beyond measure, had unmovable loyalty, an internal courage to push forward, forgiveness with absolute forgetting, and Christ-like charity to all.

Working two jobs most of her life to make ends meet, she never had much for herself.  It brought her joy to give money and trinkets freely - even until the very day she passed.  More importantly, she had a gift for seeing the beauty in others, then saying something uplifting about that to whomever crossed her path.  Those words were powerful because they were filled with the light of God.

She had a deep and trusting daily relationship with Heavenly Father and our Savior.  She emulated Him by the way she lived.

Raising two children alone, she then, incredibly, found time to help, love, and support the raising of her 5 precious grandchildren: Cole, Scarlet, Stryder, and Ivy.  And once again enjoying her two great-grandchildren - Caelyn and Brayden.

She has deedply missed many loved ones who have already transitioned to the next life.  We are left to mourn the loss of her golden spirit yet we know her sorrows are done and her joy is full.  "Well done, thy good and faithful servant."

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Friday August 29, 2025, at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens (2864 S 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID).  We will be honoring her by having a graveside service and an open mic to share stories.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilks Funeral Home.

RIP CAROL

I am saddened by the passing of so many of my class of 61 friends,  I still think of all of us as the Jocks, the Soc's, the Geeks and the Cruising bunch.  Don's Artic Circle to Fred and Kelly's, burning up that 32.9 cent gas.   I went to ISU with Billy Powell.  He was always Kool.  When he graduated and went to work at S.H. Kresge [KMart]  I thought that had to be the greatest job in the world. He started in Boise where I have spent most of my working years. In short, good friends, stop dropping out. Be Strong! Be Safe!  God, how I miss Buddy's!!!

DEATH OF BEVERLY YOUNGREN HANES

I received a call this evening from son Mark Hanes advising me that his mom, Beverly, passed away yesterday (on Valentines Day) February 14, 2026.

I have been trying to locate her for a couple of years to no avail.  He said she had dementia and then had a stroke.

Mark said they plan a Celebration of Life sometime this summer, so if they post an obituary, I will post it.

                                     * * * * * * * * *

I didn't know Beverly in high school, but our husbands were friends, so we started doing things with them.  Beverly and Dave both came from different backgrounds than I, I was a naive, goody-two-shoes and their families were a lot of alcoholics.  Never having been around this, I was kind of amazed that they could go to work the next morning.  Beverly was the kind of friend you could just pop in to see at all hours of the day.  Any secrets were safe with her.  Her best quality was that she was the eternal optomist.  She would make bad choices then tell me how everything was going to be rosy.

She and Dave got divorced and she quit her good job at Garrett Freight Lines to persue her dream of living in Monterey, CA.  She and her 3 little boys headed out, bald tires and all.  She hadn't done enough research on the cost of living there and couldn't make ends meet.  She decided she needed to remarry.  During a call she told me that she was sure that if she got a boob job that she could get another husband.  Not only was it a boob job, but also a tummy tuck.  Husband number two soon followed.  This marrage lasted about 6 months.  Next thing I heard was that Dave had moved it, but she insisted that it was strictly a platonic relationship.  This arrangement endured to the end.  In a letter she told me her rent was 1100.00 a month, but keep in mind this was early 80's.  In my mind I pictured a rambling palace.

Late 80's I had the good fortune to work a kidnapping case in Monterey.  The Command Post was set up on Fort Ord.  After work I could go see her, shop at Cannery Row and tour Carmel By The Sea.  I was shocked at the tiny house she was paying 1100.00 a month for, but could appreciate the beauty of the location.

Her son told me she will be buried in the cemetery at Carmel By The Sea overlooking the Bay.

Bev, may your view be eternal.  RIP my dear friend
