So sorry to hear about Wes passing...in 1996 we were his guests at the beautiful Desert Mountain Resort in Cave Creek, AZ. He arranged for Judy and I and fellow '52 Grantonian, Bill Wright and his wife, Karin, to stay in a home near his palatial home, while we visited. Wes and his wife Barbara were wonderful hosts and treated us to golf on one of the 5 Nicklaus-designed golf courses at the resort. Our sincere condolences to his family... Bill Hale
Many long time memories of Wes as a class mate from Sabin Grade School and Grant High School and fun times hanging out at Moens service station on 15th and Precsott in Portland ..... Memory Eternal Wes and my condolences to your family.
I guess I should echo Gary Hartung- I was also at Sabin and Grant High with Wes. He kept his intelligence well-hidden under a sly demeanour and wit. My mother told me many years after Grant High that "my friend" Wes was an optometrist in town. "You liked him, but you could not prononce his name." She would create that kind of cutting kindness. I see from Bill Hale's comment that Wes did well, retired to AZ, and lived near golf courses. That's long way from 15th and Prescott! I guess we all wander in the woods of our own making, but I think Wes wandered well.

So sad to lose another 57' classmate. My prayers go out to his family at this time.
