Louise Walker Wilson, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 25, 2015. Her remaining friends and family will each cherish their separate memories, yet they join in chorus to voice the love of her life.A memorial service in celebration of the fullness of that life and love will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends after the service.

Louise, a long-time resident of Raleigh, was raised in Roxboro, NC and educated at Women's College (UNCG). For more than thirty-five years, she was a remarkable music teacher-starting back home in Person County, and then in Raleigh-first, at the Methodist Home for Children, soon after in the Raleigh City Schools, and later in the Wake County Public Schools. Known for expecting the best from every student, and especially for her abilities to nurture talent and direct singers, she was chosen to open the choral music departments at two new senior high schools in Raleigh-Enloe and Athens Drive.

In the same way and for the same reasons, Highland United Methodist Church was fortunate to have Louise as one of its first choir directors. As time went by, she served in all aspects of the music ministry, from organist and member of the choir to being the founder and first director of the Celebration Singers. In formal recognition of a lifetime of such devotion, Highland United Methodist Church in 1996 named its new organ in honor of Louise.

Louise was the daughter of Annie Long Walker and John T. Walker of Roxboro.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, "Bill" Wilson, and her beloved grandson, "Billy" London. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca W. Turner, and her husband, Joseph W. Turner, of Davidson.
