April 9, 1948 - September 24, 2014

Samuel Joseph Odette, 66, of Raleigh, NC passed peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Samuel was born April 9, 1948 in Charlotte, NC to James C Odette and Nancy R Odette. Samuel was preceeded in death by James Clinton Odette, Nancy Rob Odette and sister Mary Hazel Smith. Samuel is survived by his Son, Joe Odette, two grandchildren Jackson and Jamison Odette of Lebanon, TN, brothers, James Odette of Apex, NC, Tom Odette of Murfreesboro, TN, Robert Odette of Suffolk, VA, and Andrew Odette of Wendell, NC.

Sam was a Navy Veteran and served in The Vietnam War and was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project. My father, Sam, was an avid reader and enthusiast of Civil War history. Another hobby of Sam's was fishing, in particular salt water fishing. I have many fond memories of fishing with my father and those times are some of the best times I spent with him. Later in my fathers life, he shared stories of his military service days, the men he served with and the impressions that time in his life left on him. As the years pass for me, especially now, I find myself frequently reflecting on those stories and memories and the times we talked, further increasing my appreciation for what he sacrificed for his country, his parents, his brothers and sister. Although my father had his challenges as we all do, Im proud to say that he did succeed in making me proud to call him my father. I love you Daddy. Fair Winds and Following Seas, I'll meet you at the Acey Deucey Club.....

If you wish to make a donation in honor and remembrance of Sam Odette, please give tot he Wounded Warrior Project.
