Alene was so vibrant and charming that she was able to generate enthusasm for our reunion get togethers from many of our classmates. She made everyone feel welcome. She was one of the organizers for all the joint '66, '67 reunions prior to the 50th. To prepare for the 50th she worked tirelessly to help design the website and gather information on the whereabouts of classmates and ivery competently nput the data into the website so that we could have our ongoing conversations among classmates. The website could not have existed without ther. She also helped set up the Facebook page for '67 prior to the website being ready.
Alene and Dan Kharthas had 47 years of a wonderful marriage, 58 years of an enduring friendship and Alene loved her life with Dan. She was an avid skier iwith a large group of ski friends in Vail Colorado and she was passionate about skiing. Her last ski date was with Carroln to the Tahoe and it was a special time for both of them.
Alene had many friends from Redwood City to Coloratdo and beyond who will all miss her dearly. One of her longest friendships was with Linda Quirk Hayward, her friends since second grade at Mount Carmel school.
Alene's sister, Lucy, predecesed her as did her parents. Alene was a special aunt to Lucy's daughter, Marie.
In Alene's final years she struggled with an autoimmune disease compounded by Long covid yet she struggled valiantly to continue to contribute to the rreunion committee for as long as she could. She was a remarkable woman and she will be dearly missed.
