Soo... the 49ers did it again. Even though we watched YA Title, RC Ownes, Leo Nomolini, Hugh Mcahenny and others practice at the Rec Center on Roosevelt Ave. Don Franco still thinks the RAM's are the team to cheer for. Franco, pray for an Alley Op pass and the Ram guy, keeps his foot in bounds at the back of the end zone. You can't stand any more heartbreaks. Just sayin....

I am feeling optimistic about people coming together for the benefit of the state of California and putting aside petty differences. Don Franco's Rams backed off and let the 49ers get into the payoffs. What a wonderful crazy world!!! No reason for it! Just a NICE thing to do. Go RAMS.

Last night we watched the James Taylor/Carol King special on CNN. It was wonderful and brought back many memories of the late 60's early to mid 70's. I recommend it to anyone who needs a little breath of fresh air in their lives. A friend said recently...we used to laugh and have fun, what happened. I said,"nothing", you just let yourself get old and grumpy!!! Have a GREAT YEAR!!!!

Great info Dr. Elliott. A historical note, as my grandparents born in RC, or relocated as an evacuee of 1906 SF Earthquake, told stories of the ships coming into Redwood Creek. Old photos show the wharf and warehouses west of 101 and almost to Broadway.
I am more concerned about burning up than drowning. I also can't believe we are going to try to eliminate gas lawnmowers and chain saws by 2024 in California.
Believe me friends when I say the Co2 from wildfires is 10,000 times more significant than the carbon foot print of small engines, BBQs and hairspray. It is just not politically popular to propose cutting down trees and using the biomass to make clean energy and restore our forests to a condition that enables fire to play a beneficial role. I watched five houses burn at once in the Fawn fire. The shingles, siding, propane tanks exploding, vehicles and their gas tanks exploding and tires burning created a fire storm that incinerated 200 year old oak trees.
Love the new battery pack tools and even have an electric pole chainsaw. The feel good, head in the sand fear promoting politically correct agenda is killing us.
FIRE is the natural event the effects the planet more than an other force of nature. The number and size of trees effects the rainfall, protects the soil, moderates the PH in streams and the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere. We have lost more trees to fire in the last 31 years than we have logged in California in total. CUT THE TREE TO SAVE THE FOREST. THEN BURN THE SLASH TO SAVE THE AIR. MANAGED FIRE PREVENTS WILDFIRE AND LARGE CARBON IMPULSE RELEASES. A simple concept used by those who lived with the land for centuries...WHY CAN'T WE LEARN FROM HISTORY.

So far no homes lost in the Hayfork Valley from Monument fire. Had six evacuees from Monument and one friend from the Dixie at our place. The planning, fuel breaks and fire lines constructed over the last 50 years paid off as local ranchers and former loggers did what they have always done, rely on yourself and help out your family and friends. In the last two years a majority of the National Forest lands in Trinity County have burned and the remainder will be at risk for another two months. Stay safe my friends and may the Forest be with you!! A mask is good for smoke too, just sayin.

Great to see pictures and stories of classmates emerging after the pandemic.
A friend from college said she feels like a butterfly who has come out of a cocoon. Can't wait to see classmates in full color taking flight at Izzy's. I will be the moth in the corner.

What about a get together in Redwood City in August. Outside at a park, bring your own food and drinks. Invite the kids and grands to show off and entertain us. I will host a muti generational soccer game in memory of Marino Mangiola. How about a Charlie Johnson 3 point challenge?

I don't know about the politics of sharing on this venue, but I enjoy hearing about the diverse paths my classmates have taken. For me life is simple. I will not make it to the Olympics, but I do have a covid vaccine slated for this coming Saturday. That means I will soon be hugging family and friends. Life is GRAND!!!

Did anyone else view the history channel special on D.B. Copper on Saturday nite? Mark Meltzer once again presented expert testimony, talking about material found at a possible LZ that may have been from a chute. Mark, I was really impressed how you stirred everyone from the fact that you are the person smart enough and skilled enough to make that jump. Shhhh..mumm's the word buddy.

Just thinking about life and what younger people will some day learn. To be a winner, you have to experience what it is like to be a loser. To be successful you need to learn from failure. To be happy you have to know sorrow. To be loved, you must love. Life is a gift, don't waste it.
