Why aren't we hearing anything from Jimmy Metcalf????

Jimmy, where are you? Surely you have sobered up by now!!!

Donna,
That's crushing news about your friend's 34 year-old son. It broke my heart that he was on leave from the navy and intending on proposing to his girl friend. You must all be a wreck; I know I would be. You and your friends will certainly be in my prayers.

Donna Samples (Pintsak)

Chip,
Thank you also for your kind words and prayers.
What I didn't tell you was that this young man enlisted in the Navy as a result of 09/11 and had done two tours of Iraq. He had just received a promotion and pay raise and been given his choice of San Diego or Bremerton WA for his base. His life was going so well! It makes the accident even more unbelievable. His family and friends are heartbroken and in shock, it will take us a long time to get over this.

Yeah, that's a tragedy Donna, I'm truly sorry to hear that, as well.

Death is a part of life unfortunately and the longer we live the more of it we will see as some others around us will not be as blessed as us. I have a buddy here in Kissimmee who just got diagnosed with colon cancer a couple weeks ago... Dan's gonna beat it though!

Just look back at our forum and see the unfairness..... Just ask Patti McCoy, me, and her good friends about Dee! Look at Jack fighting back! How about Lynn Morton losing her love, Greg, who 2 years ago went to work and never came home.... she can tell ya how tough it is as she's fighting through her loss! Many don't know but Doug Hood's bride ,Johnnie Kay, had a close encounter and is fighting back, too. There's Larry Mueller as he almost lost his love, Jeannette, in a freak event (and we were so happy to see them both smiling)! Try to figure out how Jack's son, Alan, deals with loosing his girl, Gina, ....we go off fishing and he thinks she's fine... we come home, she's gone! And our memory board .... way to many gone way to soon!

Like Jack says, gotta get the most out of every day! And us keeping in touch is one big help!

Life can be way, way unfair at times but we got to keep our feet moving and be thankful for what we got!

Can't bug out tonight without pointing to something that was big time unfair for 30 years and got real fair through our forum.... and that is Gary Teater going from being in our memories as gone from this world to being alive! .... and I don't think anyone was smiling more than he was every minute of our reunion!

I tried to reply last night, but I guess my message got lost in cyberspace. I am sitting in an airport in Houston, flight delay, what a surprize. Doll is right we have to savor every momment and remember to be kind to one another. Life is short and you just never know when your last day will be. So many years in the ER showed me the odd and sometimes bewildering ways people die. Yes I said DIE, not pass away! I agree with George Carlin on that one. I have threatened to kick the ass of anyone that says I "passed away", or haunt! Whatever!! It is really much worse for the living, the dead are in a much better place.

On a happier note, I wish I could go to DollLand for the 4th, but previous committments will not allow that to happen. I almost called you Ron, to babysit my dog Max, while I worked in Leesburg last week, but my daughter-in-law met me on the road.

I hope you guys have a great time and don't loose any body parts. (Remember Fred Salmon's eye) love you guys and I will talk to you soon!!

Everyone,

I was up north of L.A. for the day yesterday. We were heading south toward home when we happened to notice helicopters and news vans headed towards UCLA medical
center. You guessed it, Michael Jackson had been pronounced dead. If anyone doubts that there are a lot
of gonzo press and loonies in L.A. you should have been
here yesterday.

Chip, absolutely!

I have been hearing some chatter regarding the 4th of July bash at Casa Doll..... something about the worlds largest slip and slide.....I am recommending that EMT's and a Life Flight helicopter be on stand by!

Hey DeDe, Hey Nancy!

Donna Dear,

Re: Spend the 4th In the Lake & Sun with Mr. Fun, the "Slide" has claimed 3 broke ribs, 2 sprained ankles, 1 cracked wrist, numerous bruised gluts. Laughter though... priceless!

Happy 4th of JULY to everyone

Ann Woodward (Statler)

I hope you all had a Happy 4th and I want to see pictures of the party at DollLand! And Donna, how did you know about the slip and slide? I guess I really should have gone, sounds like my ER experience would help. Oh to be a kid again!

I guess my email did go thru, after all. Either that or Rhine, the god of cyberspace and all things relevant, had it fixed, since I did complain to him! Take care and talk to you soon!

The slip and slide was a Vietnam booby trap!
Mrs. Doll is still highly pissed at the person of size that broke her rocking chair that came over on the boat with the old family! 41 one years later she is still looking for the destroyer! She is 85 now and all of 4'11" and wanted some of the guy who broke her rocking chair at one of the parties when she was away! You remember the one Ellrich and Linda Frahn came in with the blue flashlights and everyone bolted. Some in the attic, George Carter up in the tree and the chair was broken !!
Well we called the rocking chair phantom who has been underground for over 40 years. She gave him hell. Wanted to know when he was going to pay up! Had the entire room bent over laughing so hard our sides hurt.
Anyway, RD's Backyard Bash was great. Good food. Good people. Good laughs. Great fireworks out over the lake.
Thanks Rick Flair for having us to mini Vietmam !

Boy! Have I really missed you guys!
I won't groan anymore about the vacation. I'm a terrible tour guide...so don't send any people from foreign lands to see the US in my eyes...I'm now nicknamed (Roger & Glenys) as the I-10 Queen!
On a happier note, seeing as you all know someone who is gone...we are now officially grandparents!
I know alot of you probably think that's no big deal, but, even now, I'm not ready to acknowledge that we're to that stage, but have to anyway...little Vanessa (Jun 25)! Glad she didn't make me miss the reunion (I really mean having the chance to see you guys!)
Thanks for a great reunion (all of you!). Sorry that we missed the "Doll Party", but you're all welcome to Benson the next time you're in AZ!
Our big thrill here is the parade on the 4th...it goes right by our house & Steven has the hose out to cool everyone off (at least that what he says)...I was a cheerleader (in my shirt) & got 2 whistles (from guys) & 2 "I love your shirt!" (from gals).
Can't wait to hear about what's going on next....
& I can't say it enough...I love you all...you are really special & how lucky was I to be in the right place & the right time w/ the right people!

Donna P....
Glad to be reminded that you're on the West Coast, too....it's brutal out here, isn't it? Right now...right here?

Patti, congrats on your new grandaughter having a grandchild is something I look forward to and just hope it happens in my lifetime! Sounds like you had a fun forth.

Jack Rhine sent me an absolutely hysterical account of Ron's party. I'm glad the EMT's were not needed!!
I think we should hold our next reunion at Casa Doll!
What do you say Rick? I love the fact that your Mom was
at your party!

Okay...then, give us the skinny! Voyeurism is the next best thing to being there! Don't get us all excited!

Thanks for the congratulations, Donna. I guess it will grow on me, as long as I'm not Memaw or Grandma or I guess that I just want a regular name that a regular kid can call someone who is over 55 yrs. than they are!

Hey! Way cool Patti & Steven for having Vanessa join the clan! My grand kids all have fur and many have tails! We love you too, Patti J!

Yeah the 4th gig was awesome as Jack, Penney, & Alan made their way to Kissimmee as well as Ellrich. Penney brought so many great treats... it was the beach party all over again!

Dave had a super time but he would not do the slide for some reason? He spent the night..... not sure but he might have wound up with Mom next to him next morn?

Jack was telling sooooo many lies to Mom.... and guess what.... she believes him over me! She really had a great time w/Jack regardless of where the truth went! The phone conversation with her & Meat was a total hoot!

We all had a ton of fun, why Alan even was talking trash ... a chip of the old block I'd say! Jack teaches his kids well!

Donna S, yes mi casa es su casa. We can party here anytime you want! Just need a couple hours notice to chase out the local cheerleaders.

I am so glad no injuries occurred this year, probably due to a mostly more sensible crowd! I was seriously thinking of driving south and grabbing Ann W as a site medic, but I knew she & I would wind up dancing and be oblivious of the slide action!

Hope summer is good to all of us!

Thanks for keeping us up on what's happening, Ron! Wish we lived closer by!
I need help w/ a grandma nickname, because this is way out of my comprehension range...I hoped the girls would wait until their 30's for me to think about this...but I will describe my vision of being a grandparent, & it's the only vision that I've ever had of me in that light.

I'm the little old lady (who's the one in either Madd or Playhouse...the old lady w/ saggy boobs, sassy mouth, & pretty much a pain in the behind), & I picture myself in an old rocking chair, w/ a jigger of whiskey (which I don't drink anymore) in one hand, & a cigar in the other (a great, big thick one), & I'm saying, "Hey, kiddies, you don't have a clue! Let me tell you about our experiences as kids & teenagers! And Oyvee! The reunions, you can only be as lucky as I have been to know the people that I have been lucky enough to know, & have the experiences (planned or not) that I have had....
Let (whatever my name ends up to be) me tell you a story!

I was getting a little concerned about Jimmy.. I hadnt heard from him since the reunion.. Well, I contacted Marriott this morning and they said he was still there and was continuing to place his empty food trays outside his door.. I was relieved to hear he was OK,.. But I put in a call to his cell phone, just in case he would answer. To my surprise, he did!.. It seems he's bought a franchise for a business out at N.Lake Blvd and I-95.. on the exit ramp.. He says it came with a cardboard sign and a bucket.. He catches the hotel's airport shuttle every morning, stands at his post, and by noon he's usually back in his room.. He would appreciate everybody stopping by when they can to help support his new business. He also mentioned a new woman in his life that he hooked up with at the reunion.. I've never heard him so happy!! Life is good..

Glad to hear that Jimmy is up to his old "tricks."

Got news this week that my agency is restructuring and downsizing and that my job was eliminated. Great news for a 58 year old in this economy! Anyway, I fine-tuned my resume and have started looking for new opportunities including consulting on fundraising, grant writing and event planning. May start my own nonprofit to benefit kids or find a new gig. If anyone needs help with some grant writing, I'm your boy. Keep me in your prayers.

Where has everyone gone to? No one seems to have checked in lately. Where's Jimmy, Meehan, Pam Cherry and everyone else?

Do you want to hear what the hip, sophisticated real housewives of Orange County are up to? Well, yesterday a bunch of us went to the county fair. You know we don't get much of a chance to see exotic wildlife like chickens, cows and pigs around here. My personal favorite thing to do at the fair is watch the Alaskan Pig Races. After they're over a local supermarket hands out coupons for free bacon. As if I'm gonna buy bacon after watching those cute little pigs!!! We also saw The Fab Four (a Beatles tribute group)
and pretended that we were still teenagers but screaming and dancing. I also got my picture taken holding a big albino python. As you can tell we live exciting and glamorous lives here in California so please blog away and let me live vicariously through others!!!!!!

Love to everyone!! Donna

Donna,
Jimmy is at his post, Pam is in Scotland.. Im not sure about Meehan..
I'm so glad to hear someone else likes pig racing!! But I agree, serving bacon at a pig race just doesn't seem right.. Losing the race has some serious consequences!
Hey John! You out there? Come on folks.. Chime in!

Danny:
How far are you from Cincinnati? I may have to come up there on business. You can teach me how to make money in the horse business.

No recent sightings of Meehan or Jimmy. They will turn up. I think Pam is flying off somewhere with a wealthy sheik.

Stay in touch.
