Marion Frazier

thanks jolee--

wreck havoc, right on!

my sister came over today with her kids and we're having a sleepover--we just drank a ton of beer and watched "purple rain"...i never realized the acting was so horrible, but i just couldn't stop watching...prince kicks ass; and amazingly enough, he looks the same now as he did in 9th grade....

note to self: don't get on the forum after watching "purple rain" and drinking beer...

Dang it Marion! Now I have Purple Rain stuck in my head and I'll be hearing this song all day. Well, here is a little something to help share in my pain....

I never meant 2 cause U any sorrow
I never meant 2 cause U any pain
I only wanted one time 2 see U laughing
I only wanted 2 see U laughing in the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted 2 see U bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted 2 be your weekend lover
I only wanted 2 be some kind of friend, hey
Baby, I could never steal U from another
It's such a shame our friendship had 2 end

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted 2 see U underneath the purple rain

Honey, I know, I know, I know times are changin'
It's time we all reach out 4 something new, that means U 2
U say U want a leader, but U can't seem 2 make up your mind
I think U better close it and let me guide U 2 the purple rain

Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
If U know what I'm singin' about up here, come on raise your hand
Purple rain, purple rain
I only want 2 see U, only want 2 see U in the purple rain

Okay Greg we may have to find some karoke time for the homecoming weekend so you can really do that song some justice. I bet we have several karoke folks in our group...........any takers......I know Jolee you are saying what is about Faye and karoke I bout drove the committe crazy trying to get karoke for the reunion............

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Don't put a karaoke microphone in front of me...you may not get it back...ha ha!!

Marion...I still have all of Prince's ALBUMS and then bought his greatest hit CD! I introduced Kenzie to Prince about 3 years ago...she LOVES him...that is the coolest...letting your kid hear songs you loved at their age.

When I think of Purple Rain, I think of being at various parties...the Harley Owner Group Christmas party, corporate parties, etc., and no matter what kind of crowd it is....at the end of the night...they play Purple Rain. It kills me...I LOVE that song! And a few others off of that "soundtrack." Darling Nikki...although quite x-rated has some awesome guitar playing in it.

Greg, thanks for sharing those profound words...ha ha!

Faye...Turbo...note: if anyone goes out Saturday night after the homecoming game on Friday....we'll see if there is karaoke anywhere....I bet with our class' talents...we could make some money!!

ha--greg--it's in my head too--i had yoga class this morning and at the end when you're supposed to relax and think of nothingness...all i could think of was "purple rain". and jolee--i'm with you--"darling nikki" is one of my favorites. i'm looking forward to the day when my kids are old enough to actually let them listen to prince--i'm envisioning my 5-yr-old singing "sexy mf" with horror as i type this....

I knew a girl named Nikki I guess you could say she was a.... great. Not cool to have this song in my head while I'm treating folks in a nursing home. Gross.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

So the real question is ....

Greg, did you actually know all these words? Or did you copy them from your album??

Has anyone actually ever seen Prince in person? Just how little of a guy is he? Not too many people can pull off the high heeled boots, skin tight purple clothes and a pirate shirt.

Carla and Jolee -- I am thinking now about getting a hoodie. I was just hoping to see what it looked like before buying one. Is it too late?

Laura -- when is the deadline for the pictures and letter? I am working on mine, but my in-laws are coming to visit and I probably won't finish until next week.

Well, let me tell you about my night last night. Steve has been gone since Sunday for business. I have been here with the kids 24/7 since we have moved up here, with only a 2 hour break in 7 weeks. (2 hours with no hubby and no kids). If you think about it, 2 hours is nothing when you have 4 kids. Okay, to make a long story short, my 3 year old fell on a plastic toy pole and it went into his mouth. He instantly started crying (I know that is a good sign) and blood rushed out including some "meat" from his mouth (sorry folks for the gross parts). I gathered up all the kids (it is 7:30pm) and headed to the Emergency Room of Dupont Childrens Hospital. We finally got to see a doctor around 10pm and the doctor said that it was a pretty bad chunk that was taken out of the roof of his mouth, but she thought that everything should be okay. I just have to check him all through the night to make sure that his throat stopped swelling and he was still breathing. Like I could get some sleep with knowing that!!!! In addition to a waking 7 month old during the night, I got NO sleep. Then at 2:30am, here comes a migraine. I took 3 doses of medicine before 7am. It is now 12:45pm and I am getting ready to take a nap. But, why am I telling you this story? Because I am proud that I was able to handle this situation by myself without any help in a town that I am not that familiar with. In addition to that, my kids were amazing. They behaved so well, and I didn't have to threaten beating them while we were in the Emergency Room so long. (Which was good because there were already cops there on a child abuse case!) So, I just had to get that out there. I am so proud of my kids and their behavior that I just might have to buy them something special! :)

Marion - I'm with you on the 5 year old. At my son's 5 year old birthday back in May he and his friends broke out into a chorus of Low. You know the song...Apple Bottom jeans, boots with the fur...

Kelly - No No No No. That's not the kind of imagery I need before lunch. Oh well I can stand to lose a few lbs anyway.

Vicky - I did know the words but I cheated before posting them. It's amazing what you can find on the internet. If only we had google 20 years ago. I do have the album and the CD though. Oh and I think Seinfeld would call Prince's shirt a "Puffy" shirt!

Kristen~
Carla has the totals for the hoodies. Contact her directly if you want one...you will...I'm not sure if she was turning in the order today...but I think she was so we can get them done.

And by the way...good job with the kids. I don't know if I would have hung in there as well as you did. This is why I just could not be a stay at home mom. My kids would be missing one by one...and I only have one...hmmmmm.

09/24/08 03:06 PM #377

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

If anyone still wants a hoodie...or even a t-shirt...say so now!!! I have not put the order in yet but will sometime before the end of the week!

09/24/08 03:21 PM #378

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Well done Kristen! I am not surprised you handled all that...mothers just do what they have to do! It pains me that I couldn't do anything to help you! I will never forget when Matt was deployed and me and both the kids were very sick...then Mason's eardrum ruptured. Went to ER...while waiting, the other one ruptured! I didn't want to ask my parents for help because I didn't want them to get sick too. So there we sat in the ER, all of us sick and Mason with blood and gunk running out of his ears. That was a pretty bad time...but I guess I am stronger for it. I hope your son's injury heals quickly.

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Kristen - way to go...SuperMom...show off! Kidding aside. Give yourself a pat on the back for that one. It is amazing how kids can get it together when they know things are tough! Lexi and I had 6 visits to the ER two years ago for innoculation for rabies! That was an adventure and I only had 1 kid to worry about! She was a trooper though (not the uniform kind, Jolee), and I can now rent her out for raccoon wrangling!!

Prince Fans - thanks for the songs in my head today, though can I get a shout out for Raspberry Beret?!?!

Working in Northern Virginia this week, so my "forum time" is limited, have a great day everyone!!

Melissa Weaver (Lynskey)

Greg...you are cracking me up that you knew the words to that song! I do have the movie, my kids have watched, my daughter likes Prince also.

Trina...I thought your favorite song was Little Red Courvette...isn't that the one that says "I got a lion in my pocket...." LOL!!!!!!!! I love you!

09/24/08 03:43 PM #381

Angelo Tomaras

Vicky - Thanks for the $20...I'll enjoy spending it this weekend on a case of beer, drinking it, kickin the redskins ass, and beating you at FFL. :)

As for Prince, yes, Ive seen him a bunch. All time fav musician. He is just under 5 ft tall but he wears like 8 inch platforms..we are talking teenie. Id recommend seeing him but never see him 2X in a row (or on same tour) - he does the exact same setlist, exact same comments, moves , etc. He played the FOX in Atlanta in the early 2000 and I saw him 3 nights and that was his only flaw.

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Yeah, Yeah, Missy...whatever. I love you too. I'm glad you and Michelle (Mich-I know you are reading) are having a great laugh at my expense about now!

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Okay folks...I just talked to the shirt people. I will be emailing them the final list of sizes tonight before I go to bed. Think of this like a bar...LAST CALL FOR HOODIES OR T-SHIRTS!

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Okay, for all of you Prince fanatics --- this one is an oldie, but a goodie --- do you remember Exotic City? Can I get some lyrics, Greg? Angelo, would you mind singing and dancing to it? Heck, Vicky already gave you $20.00. The least you could do is give her some entertainment for her money. And FFL doesn't count as entertainment!!!!!!!!!

09/24/08 04:49 PM #385

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Kristen - you can call me anytime you ever need anything day or night...I know exactly what you mean about having to take a child to the doctor in the middle of the night and dragging 3 kids along. I would have been happy to find my way to your place, or the hospital and help with the youngins. I mean it, any time you need anything.

Angelo - Enjoy the beer, you may be crying in it while listening to Prince when I kick your butt. Just what kind of cheap beer are you drinking at $20 a case??? You need to visit a real beverage store... Perhaps when I come to visit my friend at warner robbins AFB, I'll bring a case...we can celebrate my victory...lol

09/24/08 06:09 PM #386

Angelo Tomaras

Cheap beer...$18 for 30 beers @ Target..and I must admit the wine cubes are delicious - $14 a box (box = 4 bottles)... Thats how you afford a brand new house in these times.

Okay so I want a hoodie. I specified size on the homecoming survey thing so I'm not sure if saying so again will cause a screw up. Maybe I missed something...was I supposed to have paid already? Houston has a problem. Dumb blonde sometimes. Sorry. Trina can relate. Tee hee...sorry Trina :)

So...yeah. I've had teeny tiny Prince running through my friggin head all day long. My memories of Darlin' Nikki are from church camp in 83 or 84. In fact, I think we sang it in choir the Sunday we got back from camp. The priest fell dead away. Okay...just kidding. But really...Prince was fab back in the day. I remember having to hide my Prince tape deep in my room because my mother would have beat my arss if she knew I was listening to it. Those were the days.

Oh...here's a good one for ya. I lived in Coral Springs, FL several years ago and my kids went to a lousy daycare there that did all kinds of crazy crap. One day they announced the 1st and 2nd graders were going to do a "skit" for the parents and we needed to be there by a certain time to see the show. So I show up after work and make meaningless conversation with a bunch of people that look like Barbies and Kens and the lights go low and the show begins. A familiar tune begins to play and the girls start dancing. I about went berserk when I realized they were playing Nelly's "It's getting hot in here." These little kids were doing a simulated striptease for their parents! I was horrified! I felt my face get red and my jugular bulge out of my neck as I stepped over 3 rows of children to pluck my 6 year old daughter out of the "cast of strippers."

What killed me was that most of the other parents thought it was adorable and they were just beaming over their kid's talents on the dance floor. I almost puked. Needless to say, I never took my children back to that hoochie joint. Whores.

Oh...and I need to clarify the pocketful of somethings...I believe it's "pocketful of Trojans...some of them used." The lion in the pocket is from Party like it's 1999...right?

I need to get some new CDs for the tailgate, I suppose. I can't seem to find my cassette tape of Prince. My mother probably found it. Great. Now I'm grounded.

Oh...and P.S. My son was freaking dumped 4 days before his Homecoming dance. The girl got a better offer, I guess. What crap. He was pretty bummed last night but decided today that he's going to go with a bunch of his guy friends so that he can dance with a lot of girls. Go Andy! :)

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Okay, Kelly --- after the night and day that I have had, I thoroughly enjoyed your response. Especially calling them "whores". Steve came home and found me laughing and crying at the same time. I had him read your story, and he wanted to see your picture instantly. Watch out for him the next time we have a get together. I think that you are his new best friend!

09/24/08 06:46 PM #389

Laura Wolfe (Campbell)

Kelly - I think you're quoting "Little Red Corvette"....

"I guess I must be dumb cuz U had a pocket full of horses
Trojan and some of them used
But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it all right
And U say - "What have I got 2 lose?"

Kristen - no deadline that I know of. So far I think Marion is the only person to post pictures on photobucket.

Crap - Now I have "Little Red Corvette" stuck in my head....%$@&!
