Susan Jones (Badger)

Hey everyone, Mr. Dyer had surgery yesterday and he's doing well!!! He knows we are all praying for him and thinking about him. He always said our class was awesome!!

Greg - I told him he was hard on us and he said yeah but look how you all turned out...we get it now and trust me in my classroom, i totally get it! :)

Jolee you are great! I knew it was late but you were the first person to come to my thoughts!!

Vicky...i love chatting with you!! You crack me up!! I hope Jess is ready for her trip and graduation. I have 10 seniors this year and it's starting to get a bit emotional at school. They are ready one minute and the next minute scared to death. One of mine, Andres, asked me today, Ms. Badger what am I going to do when I dont have you telling me every day do my work so I can play soccer? You should have seen the scared look in his eyes. Then another, Anna, she is so excited but scared too. I got her invitation to her graduation dinner. This girl stayed with me after school about 3 times a week so she could pass her state tests...being a teacher is awesome because of these moments but sucks too because you have to let them go...ugh!!!

Well I hope all of you are well. I am coming home sometime this summer. I will keep everyone posted on details...

Trina...we can workout and have lunch!!! :)

Vick...near Fredericksburg is about as far north as I get. From there more Cheasapeak area, Norfolk, VA Beach and such. Of course, there is my wonderful client in Grundy!!

Susie...up for lunch/workout anytime!! Get your butt to Roanoke.

Shannon...you are right, we are NOT 40! Wear the tight jeans sister!!!!!

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Good morning everyone! Hope all is well wherever you are!! It's good to see people firing the forum back up...I have missed all the stories!! I am here cleaning my mom's house today before she gets home from Aruba...her cats are soooo wild, bringing in birds, leaves, twigs, nuts, berries, and puking everywhere...gotta love that coupled with the fact that my mom and step-dad smoke...ewww....butttt...momma is good to Jolee so Jolee cleans her house and even goes to the grocery store for momma before she gets back!

Susie~ What kind of surgery did Mr. Dyer have? I haven't heard that part yet...or I missed it one...if there is anything that we in Roanoke can do to help, please let me know. It is unmeasureable the appreciation you have for people just to call when you are stuck in the hospital. If it hadn't been for friends such as Amy Foster, Michelle Murray, and many others when Kenzie was in the hospital, I think I would have lost my mind. And we were there for 5 days. Mike Goode called me every evening to talk about how I was doing...to be in touch with the "outside world" is critical when you are in such an environment. PLEASE let me know if you think we should/could go visit....

Shannon~ I would call you a be-otch but I just can't....in your post where you said your jeans get too baggy and "just fall off...." I aspire to have my jeans become baggy and just havent run into that problem yet. I'm sure it is devastating when a size 2 just FALLLSSSS off....um...yeah....I hate that too....

Trooper Brown~ Hope Philly is as entertaining as the texts your phone sent to me....more hugs to come if you just SHOW UP...right class?!?!

Okay...off to finish cleaning...got things to do...cant sit here on this forum all day...I gotta check my facebook next!!

I'm also glad to see the forum is firing back up. Maybe I don't have to join Facebook afterall!

Here's an idea...we adults could get together at First Fridays on June 26th (I know, it ain't the first Friday but whatever!)....Burning Bridges is playing & I hear they're pretty good. The family friendly event could be on Saturday. Just a thought.

Take care everyone!

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Erik~ That sounds great. Even if we just start with the "adult" part...the park and kids part can be thrown together pretty quickly...I was wondering about Smith Mt. Lake...they have the state park which is nice and then they have opened up a new park that is family friendly. Then there is always Longwood, but I would like to try something different...like a lake...not that anyone is ever going to see me in a bathing suit...I mean, unless you catch Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition...but I get paid for that....ROFLMAO!!!

Trooper Brown has spoken and requested our presence tomorrow for lunch....can anyone make the New Yorker at 12:30? Let me know...Steve Jones is in...and me...

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Lunch is on...New Yorker at 1230...Me, Steve Jones, Marvin, and Kelly Houston...others to follow!

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

I want to go to "The New Yorker" tomorrow at lunch!! Will someone order a New Yorker Meal In Itself for me? That is my favorite. I'll be lucky if I get up in time to pack something for my lunch or eat a pack of crackers at my desk. I may talk the other Elective teachers into sneaking out down the street for lunch, ya'll have inspired me.

Great pics Jolee!! I can't wait to have lunch with you guys...as far as Mr. Dyer I am not sure what surgery. I will see his daughter this weekend and get the scoop and let everyone know. I know he is in Lewis Gale Hospital. I will find out.

Trina..sometime in July I will let you know.

I hope everyone is doing well!! 3 day weekend then 4 day school week, then 1 full day and 4 1/2 days and it's vacation time for 3 months!! :) Gotta love it!

Happy Memorial Day and thanks to all of our military and military families!! My friend (well exboyfriend) Anthony called me today. He's a navigator and the plane that went down in California yesterday had 1 of his friends on it. They trained together and worked together in Nebraska. His friend was still in surgery and still critical...so pray for all of our military extra this weekend!!

Miss you all!! Hugs to everyone!!

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Suz - I can only imagine what it's like to be a teacher of seniors....living with one is hard enough.

On a personal note, my oldest Jess has "1" day of school left (Tuesday) and then she is leaving for Peru. She is missing the last week of school and forgoing Senior Week at the beach to go on a mission trip to put roofs on houses in the same Peruvian village they built houses in last summer. There are about 15 teenagers going and a handful of adults. Please keep them in your thoughts and pray for safety. She is due to come home the day before graduation.

Today we are working in the yard (and house) to get ready for her graduation party...yea, thanks Jess for facebooking 200 of your closest friends for a party at our house... but it's worth all the fuss.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend.

Thanks for posting the pic Jolee...ya'll be lookin good...

Hey, If anyone has any connections, or knows someone who does with Miley Cyrus please let me know. I think I posted on here back in January about my niece who was diagnosed with a fatal neurological disease called Juvenile NCL or Batten's Disease. The Make a Wish Foundation said the waiting list to meet Miley Cyrus was so long they weren't adding any more names to it. Kelsey's mom doesn't want to give up trying to make her wish come true.

Vicky I wonder what the make a wish list is like to meet Billy Ray Cyrus? I know that's a stretch but if you can get to Billy then maybe he can bring Miley. Just a thought.

Faye Sowers (Crute)

Shannon you look so great in your pictures! Are you 40 or 20.........hmmmmmmm you still getting carded aren't you? Lucky girl all that clean living must agree with you........I am smiling..........I guess your kids are already out of school????? we are counting the seconds until they are out........CANNOT WAIT.......magic place here I come when the school bell rings.......or maybe a few mins before...........

06/04/09 06:32 AM #2155

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

Faye~You are so sweet to say that. I don't really get carded anymore. We get out of school next Wednesday June 10. It is fun now because we are just playing games. Yesterday, I only had 4 of my 6 classes because 6th grade had field day. I've been playing Uno with my students & today an 8th grade boy is going to teach me Texas Hold 'Em. I'm having fun! However I still had to send two boys (one 8th grader, one 7th grader) to the office yesterday. You'd think the end of the year they would be angels! One of them, his mom & I go to the gym & take the Hip Hop Dance class together. I had to tell her last night. She supported me though. Yay~School is almost out!!

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Hey guys! I was also thinking everyone had moved over to facebook and have not been checking in often...glad to see folks back on here. I have been busy playing with the new toy I got for my 39th birthday! I'll have to come show it off at the next lunch gathering. Now that school is almost out I will be able to make it to lunch easier.
I talked to Eddie and Stephanie (Starkey...Nicole's sister) Herron last week. Our kids will be on the same swim team. Small world.

Hello all. I'm in Rke for the weekend to help my sister Rebekah move to Charleston. Anyone going out tonight?

06/07/09 06:48 PM #2158

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Carla~ Do tell, what is your new toy?!?! Pics please!!

Michelle~ I just got on today...so sorry, would have loved to have done something last night...shoot!

I think we need to officially plan another get-together and soon! I feel so distanced from everyone and not sure why! I do spend most waking moments on Facebook...and there are tonnnns of NHS people on there...but I do love our little world here and hope to keep it going...

People...start putting in ideas...Erik thought of First Fridays...and I think that is a great idea...any takers? Or other ideas?

Jolee...everyone has something that "does it " for them. You like Harleys and men in uniforms...my love is one I have had since age 2! Let's say it is EXLR8NG. You will see at lunch next time!
Hey, we can do a cookout at my place sometime this summer if you want.

Angie...Congrats on the promotion!!

Carla...Details on the toy, girl!

NHS Gatherning...love the idea of the next First Fridays. We could follow up with a family outing later in the summer.

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Jolee and Chris nailed it. It's a red 2004. About 35000000000000 horsepower. It's soooooooooooooooooooooo much fun! My other one was a convertible...this one is a targa top. It's an automatic transmission. This is what we could get a great deal on. I love the red...but my next one WILL be a 6 speed convertible...red or yellow.
Anyone want to go for a ride??????????? You must meet a height requirement and should not ride if you have a heart condition. Although I should mention we went to Busch Gardens a couple weeks ago and Matt had to ride the Griffon alone. You folks who got on that are NUTS!!! So if you can handle that you will be fine in the car with me.
Pictures later...but Chris...I know you love cars...you need to come see it!

06/10/09 05:41 PM #2165

Chris Akers

Sounds sweet, Carla! Will have to check it out next time we're up in Roanoke. Not sure I want to ride with you though, since it will make my wheels feel anemic by comparison. :)

BTW, a buddy of mine owns a Dyno shop in Durham and is one of the best Corvette tuners on the East Coast. He can turn that thing "up to eleven" if you're interested. =:)
