Just want to thank everybody for all of the texts, phone calls, messages, and words of support while my mom is going through this horrific ordeal. Being the life-long smoker that she is and me being an oncology nurse my thoughts all along would be that she would be plagued with lung cancer and pass away as many do from that diagnosis within 6 months. When the diagnosis of tongue cancer came to be, it really floored me. There are no labs that can be drawn to measure its severity, like other cancers. Some say it is "curable" others say deadly. But either way, it is usually a long, drawn out process riddled with excruciating pain. And that is where we are now. After meeting with Dr. Barton Thomas, he postponed her surgery for three weeks (Oct. 9th or Homecoming night...of course), and demanded she quit smoking or he will not do the surgery at all. It is a 9-12 hour MAJOR surgery with a microscope involved to repair her blood vessels. She is tough...no doubt.
To Faye, Kelly HB, Vicky, Kristen W. Bray, Beth Stewart, Amy Foster, Ann Stewart, "The good twin" Erik, Carla, my girls Trina(Folden and Clark), Preeti, Paige, and so many others I can't even think of right now...I so appreciate you.
