Mrs. Moore who taught me by example that you can achieve anything in life you really want by

(1) teaching music to us and "singing" our parts to us, though her voice was hardly above a whisper due to the surgeries she had had to remove her throat cancer and

(2) don't be afraid to stand up for what you want, the particular example here being, just because you have a small problem and DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ MUSIC, for heaven's sake, go to Columbia and try out for All-State Chorus! I did and made it, thanks to Mrs. Moore. She always encouraged us to GO FOR IT, whatever you want in life; just always give it your best effort. What an inspiration.

Champion basketball and volleyball teams, I think, but only because I was on teams with gals who had a lot of talent, like Brenda Ratterree and Patsy Baker and Harriet Givens, etc. I remember performing a great deal of bench warming. Hey! I had a column to write for the Garnet & Black!

Okay, like giving cow pasture parties and going to the TeeNut House and watching Murray Elliott dance and going to Sock Hops at the Y and dancing with that dreamy Mike Snyder, and going to the Ft. Rock Drive In, stuff like that???

Well, let's see, I moved to Charlotte in 1967 and worked for Eastern Airlines (no, I was NOT personally the cause of their ultimate bankruptcy) and later worked for First Union; got married, moved to Burlington, NC and went to work for an attorney; divorced and returned to Charlotte, working then for the Chief District Court Judge (impressed yet?) and several other law firms before becoming a freelance court reporter for a firm in Charlotte; eventually owned my own court reporting business in Charlotte for 25 years (quit yawning!), then got MS, decided to sell my business in '07 and my house in Charlotte in '09 and moved back to Rock Hill. LOTS of great living in between all those years but I don't have room for all that.

'65??!! Lordy, I didn't have a car until 1967 when I moved to Charlotte, and it was an Opal Cadette. FUN CAR!
