Joanne should still be alive along with us. I didn't know Joanne well, but I remember her as a friendly person, who always said hello, and I wish she were still on the planet. A rose for you too, Joanne.

Joanne had the most wonderful smile and shared it with everyone she met. Thanks, Joanne.

I'd already moved away from Rock Hill when I heard about Joanne's death, and it left me in a state of shock. I'll never forget her shining spirit or the good times we had together, and she could always make me laugh. I remember in third grade at WTS, when we were playing with Silly Putty during recess and Buster Garrison, in a sneering tone of voice, asked, "Whatcha doing? Making naked women?" Not breaking a note, Joanne kept to her task at hand and replied, "No, it's the other way around."

I also recall our marathon gin rummy game in the back seat of my parents' car---lasting from Rock Hill all the way to Folly Beach (which happened to be the same year the Rolling Stones released 'Satisfaction,' and which we heard at least a DOZEN times before we finally got there). Then there was the time she playfully put Steve Teno's car into reverse while he was driving downhill on Main Street (effectively putting his transmission out of commission).

I'll also never forget Joanne's hidden talent---the fact that she could burp "Boogaloooo...doowwwn...Broooadway" as long and as loud as any guy...[smile]

Joanne was a wonderful person, with a quick wit. I remember so many times together! The rest of us could get away with things but Joanne always got caught. I remember sneaking out at night and going by to get Joanne. Also remember 1st week and the beach....and going to Edisto after 1st week. Remember many days of crusing with Joanne. Knew her from K-12. Miss you, Joanne!

So sad thinking about my very, very dear friend.  We had so many laughs and outrageous times together.  Sleepovers, slumber parties.  Going to each others houses pulling our over-night bags on a sled (!) because we were out of school for snow (yes we had snow back then).  "Laying out" in the sun on the roof of my house or Betty's river house if we were lucky.  (photo on my page)

Sneaking out and "riding around" late at night, going to Fewell Park at dawn after staying up all night, cruising Cherry Rd.  Ouiji boards!! Riding the bus, blearry eyed in the AM; wired and silly in the afternoons.  First week at OD.  Shootin' pool and cuttin' the fool at the YMCA.  Going to the fair, the Pix, Putt-Putt golf.  Singing and playing our guitars at Rosemary's house.

I made a gigantic heart shaped birthday cake for her Sweet 16th - no way that whole thing was ever gonna get eaten!  My mom and I gave her a shower our senior year in high school - she didn't get to come because the baby, Brady, decided to get himself born right then.

After high school, contact was sporadic, but Joanne was a loyal friend:  there were times when I hadn't heard from her in eons and out of the blue she'd call late at night and say "what's wrong, I just had a feeling you might be needing a friend" - and she'd be right.  Through all our moves, she'd track me down some how.  The last time was right before I got married in 1982 - how'd she know? and then there she was at my wedding.

I love you dearly Joanne, I hope life is giving you a happy and blessed incarnation this/next time around.
