Sandra (Sandi) Ott Kokas

Upon graduation from Auburn, I spent the summer in Washington DC and then went to Cosmetology School in Rockford. For the next 45 years, I have been doing hair and loving it still...no retirement planned for me! I've owned a couple salons, was in the tanning business, and, was doing mail order before the time of e-bay, etc! I became a Marine wife during the late 60's and during our 17 years of marriage, we had 3 wonderful children (as stated above). I was a single Mom for many years and even though it was hard at times, I would not change a thing. Today they are doing quite well and are very loving. Life goes on...some of us had it easier than others but no one told us it was going to be EASY...just to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Some of you will know what that slogan really means and if you read this and identify to it, I'd love to share. I'm happy to say, I'm healthy, wealthy (NO) and much wiser than I used to be...very blessed for sure!!!!

Senior year... I decided to run for secretary of our class. Sue Amundsen and I tied and because of this, they asked the five absentees to vote. Sue and I found out by doing some detective work that Jerry Johnson, my ex-boyfriend, voted for her!!! That really hurt at the time and still to this day (kidding, of course), I still hold a resentment!!!

Another senior story...ask Bob Kinney...load his e-mail until he tells you the story...he needs to get it off his shoulders and get over it!!!! Forty-five years later!!! WOW lol

I didn't realize we had one until close to reunion time. I missed a meeting when Kendall set it up. Oops, he wrote me an e-mail saying, "It's about time you joined since you ARE ON THE COMMITEE." Ouch!!! I'll send money later, Kendall. I need to pay for the frisbees first!!!
