Carol had a love of life. She smiled, laughed and went for it.
One day we spent hours making a boston cream pie to take to a classmate's. It was beautiful. As the time to leave approached, I received a telephone call; I had a hard time understanding Carol because she was laughing so hard as she told me she had just (accidentally) dumped it on her front stoop. My family couldn't understand all the laughter after all our hard work, but something like that never bothered Carol. We scooped it up, threw out all the parts that hit the concrete, threw the rest of the pieces and parts into a pan and took it to the party where everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
I hung out at her house - a lot. It was always fun and an adventure.
I last saw her a couple hours before she passed on. She was still full of light, interested in what was going on and more concerned about her family than herself.
It is always a sad day when one of our family leaves us. That's what everyone from our class feels like to me from our closest friends to casual acquaintances. There is a special bond among us all. God bless you, Carol and rest in peace.
