His face is familiar! I wish I could remember more about him! I need to confirm that he died in Vietnam. Maybe I could find out more about his family. People who gave their life in the military should be remembered.

We had such a nice life in Rocky River! I didn't appreciate what I had until much later when I traveled to distant  parts of the world. Legless people in Nepal begging for food. People with tuberculosis coughing up their lungs in Tibet. Etc Etc

Who knew this  guy?

Jim, Kenny did not die in Vietnam. He had moved out to Arizona like several of us did and was killed in an accidental shooting while camping with his wife. Lee Perry and I were pall bearers at his funeral. Kenny was a sweet guy and great fun to be around. His loss was very hard to accept and I still miss him whenever I see this picture.

I am happy there are people on this forum who know things that have been a mystery for so long. I lived on Elmwood in Rocky River. I would often see Kenny and Dinah Hebert walking to her home on the street next to me. They were such a cute couple. Because of our last names, I always had a locker next to Gary Stauffer. When Gary was injured and on crutches, Kenny and I would split carrying Gary's books to home room (Mr. Taylor).

We seem to be slowly finding out about classmates who are no longer with us.

I thought he had passed several years ago as posted on this site. Sorry if mistaken getting old. Remember Kenny from grade school. Went to his house many times on school bus. Lived off Detroit Road in new housing developement. Good Guy. Blessings to his family members and friends. Good luck on new adventure after this life.

Lowell, you are not mistaken. Kenny passed away over fifty years ago. When the website was built years later, we couldn't remember exactly what year we lost Kenny, even though Lee Perry and i were both pall bearers at his funeral.  (Talk about getting old!) That lack of a year has bothered several of us, including John Ahlstrom (also from the neighborhood back in grade school), who recently asked why we still didn't have a year. So we compared the contents of our limited memories and decided it must have been 1972, although we would welcome any further information on the date. Unfortunately, when I added the year, the website published it as if Kennny had been added, not just the year. Sorry about that.

Hope that helps. There is one thing I can't help you with, though - you ARE getting old! Glad to hear you're still doing so. Take care of yourself and keep up the good work.

I am doing my family genealogy and am familiar with the web site Find-A-Grave.  Maybe this will help verify the year he died.  There is a Kenneth J. Smith born in 1946 and died in 1971 listed on the web site.  He is buried at East Lawn Palms Cemetery in Tuscon, Pima County, Arizona.  Hope this helps.
