Cathy,

I heard this morning and was completely shocked. I am so sorry for Dick's passing and more than usual prayers for you.

We always know and at this point to appreciate each day here and when one of the good guys leaves us it affects all of us.

Prayers and thoughts for you and your family.

Maybe the big coach upstairs needed a good catcher and called for  Dick for the next game.

Dear Cathy and Judy,

it breaks my heart to hear all the sad news. I know what pain Judy suffered and is still suffering. And I know the heartache Cathy is feeling. It has been a year and a half, and I still miss my Bob, my brother Jim and my sister Kathy every day. I received the nicest note from Judy Grewe when my world seemed to end. I so appreciated it. I don't know if I could help Cathy or Judy, but if they or anyone else is in the midst of suffering loss or living with someone with Lewy Body dementia, I would be glad to talk.  My number is 586-718-9143. I barely hang on myself some days and I don't know if I have any words of wisdom, but I am a good listener. You will be in my prayers. Love to all.
Mary Ann

Dick Brown : High School Memory

Our Junior year Baseball Team opened the season against U of D High School

which was 2nd ranked in the state. Dick caught and called a great game, I pitched

a 3 hitter and Pat Diggles hit a game winning double. We made Shrine proud that day.

Rest in peace Dick, prayers from Barb and myself.

Happy Birthday, Janet, the lady with the warm, compassionate heart, and a terrific golfing partner.  The world could use more people like you.  Looking forward to seeing you at our Reunion/Golf outing and hoping that our recruiting efforts are rewarded.

A Happy Birthday to Anne Cliggett, wherever you are.  Are you out there, Anne?  You seemed so much more mature than the norm.  A Merry Unbirthday to the rest of us.

Happy Birthday, Judy Shields - we hope you are surrounded by your kids and theirs with love and laughter filling the air.  Your wit was always quick and your smile readily avaiable, which I learned in my first class at Shrine, Latin, with you and Mareida sitting to my immediate right.

I do read the Shrine page with great interest and lately not commented much but I still appreciate everyone's birthdays and continuing journey to the next one. And we realize how valuable each year -and the cake and icecream is!  It's been a very hot and frustrating summer here in STL along with the crazy 8 inches an hour downpours and sewers unable to handle it all. I've only been to the Ozarks once this summer so far and that's usually my favorite escape even though I do not know how to drive the family boat, I keep starting instructions with a handrawn diagram on how to start it (thank you Brennan) in the glove box with the key in a kuzi under the seat! It's the oldest boat on the water 1988 Regal and my main responsibility it to keep the teak oiled but I do enjoy watching those grandkids taking it out! And praying it returns with all on board! Even with COVID I spent time down there and often alone ....but this year hasn't worked out ...there's alway the beautiful Autumn though and news of a casino coming so soon it will be officially as you see on Netflix ! And one asks why would I love it so?  Enough ! I'm so very sorry about the recent passings from earthly life to the ultimate reward life of our dear Judy and Cathy. Judy's husband and my first husband,Bill were classmates and friends at U of D and of course we remember Dick, and my brother in law , Virgil's brother ,died last night and one is never really prepared but he is finally out of pain and free.  I can't do the golf outing this year because it is the 10th anniversary of Virgil's passing the 27th so am needed at home but I'll be thinking of you all and wishing a great time.  Mike, you have such a talent and touching way you acknowledge birthdays and console the new widows...take care and I'll remain silent again ....maybe

Judy, you're so right - we do come to appreciate one another and value our comments - so don't become silent.  Thanks for the update on your life and adventures (It was so nice, I read it twice.)  We shall miss you and your warm smiles this year, but we'll manage to take a picture or two and post them for your, and everyone's, perusal and enjoyment.

Wow Judy,

After seeing how busy you are, I can see a perfect spot would be out on that boat for about an hour or two just for the peace and quite.

Glade your reading all the foolishness on hear and now that we know your on, we better not say anything bad about you. (Joking)

Take it easy and be safe.

Happy Birthday Professor Janet, we hope that all is well with you in Texas and that you day is filled with laughter and love.  I recall your excellent mimic of Sister Bio with your "That'll do!!" which was always followed by a second of silence then lots of laughter.

Another birthday to another Knight.

Happy Birthday, Janet. Hope the day finds you celebrating with all your loved ones and enjoying your favorite cake and ice cream.

At our age,  we can eat cake and ice cream and not give a darn what people say. We need our sweets.

Enjoy and stay safe.

Happy Birthday, indeed, Kathy.  We're not surprised that you would become a nurse as you were so sensitive to those around you with an open heart.  Hope your day is filled with loved ones and laughter and toss in some Angel Food cake with the ice cream of your choice.
