Arlene Vachon (Forrester)

I have been very remiss in posting anything lately. (3 smacks on the hand with a ruler!)

First, let me congratulate all classmates who were blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday this year. Bravo!  While I wasn't able to attend the reunion, I was able to enjoy a lovely time, over lunch, with Lucia when she was in my area. She was helping her son who had recently placed his father in a nursing home. It just so happened it was the same home my husband is in and his room was directly across the hall from my husband's! It is a large facility, so this was sort of amazing.

For those with homes in Florida and the East Coast, I'm hoping you suffered very little damage from Ian. Please bring us up-to-date and let us know you are well.  I contacted Tom Scott who is in Charlotte, NC. He said they had wind and rain, but no damage.  He sounded great and upbeat, but he is still working on strengthening his leg muscles so he can ditch the wheel chair.

Take extra care of yourselves. Stay healthy and keep in touch. 💕

Arlene, good to here from you after such a hiatus.  It would have been a blessing to see you this August, but we hope to see you for our 60th Reunion next year.  I believe that coporeal punishment (or should that be "penance"?) is a thing from our distant past, so relax your knuckles.  Good to hear that you are well and that Scotty is his normal battling self.

I have wondered about any fall out for our classmates and their loved ones, too in the aftermath of Ian the Terrible.  I am about 120 miles east of Scotty - we had forecasts for "Up to" and "Possibly" which turned out to be grossly overdone.  We did have winds of 30 mph and gusts up to 40 and a full day of rain.  Our fallouts were a 45 second power outage and a few trees blown over.  Trivial considerations when all was said and one.

Anyone else???  Merry Unbirthday to one and all.

We live in a golf community in Sarasota - 10 miles inland. We are not in a flood zone or evacuation area.  We did not lose power. We have some minor roof damage and some small landscape trees half uprooted.  Those are replanted.  Much tree and plant devastation in our area.   We are very lucky.  Still in Michigan so didn't have to deal with huricane winds and rain. Going back to FL next week.

Saying prayers for all the people who are suffering from this storm.

Let's hear it for Tom O'Brien ... the Greatest Shrine Alum out there ... I "hope" you have the greatest Birthday yet ... I "know" you'll try your damndest to make that happen for you ...

Thanx for the many tributes to our classmates over the years ... you've made birthdays one of the greatest reasons to join this forum ... watch the cake intake but indulge in as much ice cream as you choose (as long as it's low cal sherbet) ... luv you much

L

A happy belated birthday, OB.  Sorry for being a day late but I sometimes have trouble reading my own hieroglyphics.  Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Unbirthday, not that you need an excuse to indulge in the cake and ice cream.  What's your flavor of choice and favorite cake?  We all appreciate your attention, diligence and upbeat wishes and messages.  You're pretty much our birthday legend.  Please keep it up.

Thank you all for the beautiful wishes.

The day was very uneventful but better than the last day.

Angel food cake with chocolate frosting is my fav. Top it off with rocky road ice cream and ready to go.

I am so glad we did not lose anyone from the recent storms and prayers go out to those who had damage.

Be safe and stay healthy.

OB, I forgot to mention that we'd love to see you in person at our 60th Reunion.  Date and site as yet to be determined, but your presence would certainly have a positive aura to add to the festivities.  P.S.  We shall make sure that there's some Rocky Road.........

Mea birthday culpa!

Tom, Tom, hope your birthday was the bomb! 🎇🎉🎈

I know the expression is a bit old though not as aged as we for sure! Loved that your fav was angelcake for the lightness  being with chocholate for a touch of dark richness, great way to celebrate the yin and yang, with a little rocky-ness thrown in as a bow to reality.

Freddie, are you still lurking out there?  Happy Birthday whether you are lurking or not.  Do you still look like you did 59 years ago?  It would be good to see you and Bonnie at our 60th Reunion next August.

Oct 6 out for a hike with my friends Vic and Don and Lefty the dog, beautiful fall day in northern California.

In case you don't recognize me I am on the left in a blue T Shirt.(it's only been 50 years don't I look the same? Ha Ha)

God Bless all of you, Tom Hughes

Tom, great to hear from you.  I would recognize that smile (you still look like you're up to something), but you might want to step a little closer to the razor next time you shave.  It would be great to see you in person next August for our 60th reunion - I'll pop for an adult beverage if you're so inclined.

10/26/22 10:55 AM #3536

Thomas Hughes (Hughes)

Thanks Mike, I do consume adult bevarages sometimes too many. I hope to get to the 60 year Geezer Bash. My sister lives in Whitelake about 3 miles from the Pontiac Country Club.  Interesting fact the owner of the Pontiac Country Cllub is a Shrine grad from 1955 as that when my older brother graduated.

Any way stay happy and healthy see ya inthe shiny winds. God Bless

Remember Love is the answer, what thehell was the question?
