Dan, the soft spoken guy with kind words for all.  (And the legendary sweater.)  Have a terrific birthday with smiles, laughs and love.  May your ball lie in green pastures, not in still waters.

There is a recently published book that chronicles Al Fracassa's life and coaching career that you might find fascinating reading. This book might make a great Christmas gift.

Title: Fracassa, The Man, the Times, and the Teams

Authors: Bud Krause, Tom Martin, et al.  Bud is a SHS graduate several years our junior.  His sister, Katie, was a 1964 Graduate.  His older sister, Carol, is married to Jack Calabrese and was present at our 60th Reunion.

Cost: $25 + $10 shipping if purchased from Bud
          $24.99 on Amazon Prime
Some of the proceeds from the sale go to Al Fracassa.

Amazon states that "Al Fracassa retired in 2014 as the winningest coach in Michigan high school football history.  But the story of Coach Fracassa goes beyond wins on the football field.  "Fracassa" tells the story of an immigrant Italian family's youngest of four sons, Albert, and how he became the role model and inspiration to thousands of young men at Royal Oak Shrine and Birmingham Brother Rice over a 54-year career."

The 1960's Shrine football program is covered extensively including players from our Class of 1963.

Foreward by Vince Lombardi, Jr.

To order from Bud Krause, please send a check made out to Bud Krause for $35 to his adress below. Or you can Venmo@BudKrause.

Janet, thanks for yet another terrific picture from our Reunion!!  The ladies do look lovely.  (Too bad that Bonnie couldn't find something to wear as colorful as her beaming personality.)  It's especially good that we can recognize the individual classmates in the pics you've included in the Forum.  I appreciate and marvel at your dedication, thoroughness, leadership, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness in making this such a terrific event.  Additionally, thanks for the heads up on the Fracassa book.

OB - If you are going to load your cake with the accurate number of candles, I believe that in Carlsbad there is an ordinance concerning bonfires that you may want to consider.  Have a terrific day, Tom.  You've added so much to our Forum and memories.

Tom,

Happy Birthday to the one who never forgets anyone else's. You have permission to have double cake and ice-cream.

Thanks to all that posted pictures of the reunion. Made me wish I played golf instead of music (just kidding). So many slowly aging in style.

A quick update on my progress.  Yesterday, I had a consultation with my surgeon.  He went over what had happened and my latest xray.  He was please thet I had startrd the cardio rehab program and left me with the following conclusion.  First, he does not want to see me again until 1 year from now, and sedcond, he told me to go do what ever I wanted to, no restrictions.

While I m feeling pretty good,I need to do the rehab to get back to my normal.  I have been told it may take 4 to 6 weeks of rehab and I plan to use as much as I need.  It sure feels good to be on the road back.

This coming Thursday, The Henry Ford is going to dedicate a bench in the village  in memory of our daughter Janice.  We have been invited to the ceramony, and after that there will be a special train ride we can take in her memory.  When Janice worked in the village she was a plarform person who helped load people on the trains a conductor on the trains and a presenter in the roundhouse where they are serviced and repaired.  This will all take place before the village is open to the public.   This will be a great tribute in rememberance of Janice.

Dave, that's terrific news!!!  Knowing you, we're sure that the rehab will be done completely and on a timely basis.  That's a special dedication from the Henry Ford management for Janice.  We hope you enjoy it and that Barb doesn't cry too much, though who could blame her.

Happy Birthday Bonnie, a colorful lady with a smile for everyone.  We hope your voice has retained its' dulcet tones.

Ye Gads!!  I missed Sue's birthday.  So sorry, Sue.  I hope your day was everything you wanted it to be.  I hope that the coming year is as good as you can make it, full of peace, serentiy, smiles and laughter.  I'm sorry that I didn't get to share much time with you at the Reunion - so many smiling classmates.

Apologies to Kathy for missing your birthday, too.  I hope that your day was as special as you are.  The upcoming year, too.  And all of the years to follow.  I'm glad that you've overcome your shyness and are willing to speak up, from time, to time.

Fred, Happy birthday to you.  You are still the classmate who has changed the least, at least in looks.  Good to see you at the Reunion, sharing your wit and smiles.

A Merry Unbirthday to the rest of us.

I would like to thank everyone for the kind Birthday wishes I received.

It was a wonderful day, especially with my angel food cake and chocolate frosting with chocolate ice cream.

Now I just have to wait another year for another cake.

Thank you all again.

Just want to bring everyone up to date.  I just finished my third week of rehab.  I have finally realized just how much I lost while I was in the hospital.  I  am pretty sure that I am going to have to use all the rehab I can get.  I now understand what everyone ment when you said be patient.  Glad I have the weekends off.

Hope everyone is having a good Fall season.

I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the many vets we have in our class.  Here in my neck of the woods Veterans' Day is a very big deal.  Flags all over the place - porches, yards, clothing, golf carts, etc.. There are 3 different restaurants which give veterans a free meal, not sliders either.  Pork chops, burgers or fish.  Most of the golf courses have special tournaments commemorating the day.  Several local courses let vets play for the cost of a cart, while the Pinehurst Resort has a day set aside for Wounded Warriors wherein the vets can play for free and the resort pays for any caddies the vets may take.  The main drag into the Village fo Pinehurst has flags on 8 foot poles every 50 yards for three quarters of a mile.  A trend started in the grocery stores for 11% off to vets for three days.  There is a cemetary that put special flags by each grave of a vet - 6 footers. Forgotten, sometimes, are those who waited for their sons, fathers and/or spouses to return  They have made an emotional sacrifice too.  I realize that this day is not Veterans' Day, but I appreciate your sacrifice every day.

Meanwhile, how's the rehab going, Dave?  Good thing that you're blessed with patience.  Better thing that you're blessed with Barb.  I'll go out and hit a golf ball in your honor tomorrow - hope you can soon.

Merry Unbirthday to one and all.

Mike,

What a beautiful description of Veterans Day celebrations at Pinehurst.

Belated thanks to our veterans!

Mike,

Thanks to you and your community for the thoughtful tributes to all the veterns who have served.  It is because of them that our country has survived, prospered, and set a very high standard for the rest of the world.  Right now we are seeing a some troubling signs that many have lost their way.  History has shown that freedom is not free.  I really hope that we do not see another national tragady to bring them back to reality.,

I feel like I am making pretty good progress, but keep getting reminders that it is going to take time.  One small example, I cannot pick up a full pot of coffee with my left hand.  It will come, but not as quick as I would like.  For now, I would like to be able to start some golf practice by December at an indoor range.  I think that would be something that not only would I enjoy, but would be really good for me.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.

Dave
